Let’s focus heavily on GPP’s and specifically MME today. But before we do, here are your cash game staples to build around;
LeBron James
Khris Middleton
Cam Payne
Jabari Parker
Eric Bledsoe
Jokic (especially if Millsap is out)
Those guys would be people I would want to focus on for H2H’s and cash tonight. I likely would lock Middleton, Payne, and LeBron if I had to pick a few for H2H’s because of their minutes/usage bumps due to injuries. Parker is a viable option too as I just found out he might have a cap restriction boost with Giannis out.
Now let’s get to what we should be playing at this point in the season anyway, MME GPPs.
PG
Steph Curry – He’s in a smash spot and the team is missing 385 different players, well, three that matter (Durant, Klay, Dray), which means Curry should have insane usage tonight and likely wouldn’t even be active tonight unless he was fully healthy. I doubt he has a minutes cap and the only reason I would think he doesn’t hit mid-30’s minutes is if the Warriors are up by 20 at the end of the third. At that point, they likely don’t bring him back for his final 8-minute rotation unless they have to. I’ll have a solid 15-20%% exposure here.
Eric Bledsoe – I’ll have similar 35-45% exposure with the min/usage bump without Giannis active.
Cam Payne – Jerian Grant likely picks up a bunch of Blakenly’s minutes but Payne will get a bump too. He’s just mid-5k and is a solid option. With a usage rate in the low 20’s and minutes in the low-30’s, he’s a nice salary relief option with decent upside with his current role. 30-40% exposure.
Dennis Schroder – Going back to the well in a good matchup after everyone was burned by him. 20-25% exposure.
George Hill, Kyle Lowry, Terry Rozier, Russell Westbrook and a few other PGs will be capped at 10% exposure and a minimum setting of 3-5% to make sure I end up with about 5-15 lineups with each guy listed. I like to do this when a position is really deep and I think PG is deep tonight.
SG
Khris Middleton – He’ll be around 50-60% and likely my highest owned player of the night, or at least one of (still thinking through LeBron exposure). Middleton has gone nuts a few times this year (several 50-60 point outings without Giannis active). I love the spot he’s in too.
Nick Young – Everyone is going to hop off him now after a few up and down games and Curry being back. Young’s minutes will be unaffected as he still will soak up as many mins as he can play at the wings. Curry might even help him by adding some talent on the outside and allowing Young to get a few extra open shots and catch & shoot opportunities. I am thinking at least 15% exposure and just let the optimizer fill in an amount. I know I’ll want about 20 lineups with him, minimum, which is about 15% exposure out of 150-lineups. If he ends up in 45% or something then so be it!
Jamal Crawford – I’ll have him at 7% which is around 10 of the 150 lineups. Solid matchup and minutes in the high-20’s in three out the last four games.
Will Barton – If Millsap is out with Gary Harris, I really like Barton, Chandler, and Plumlee (I’ll get to Jokic later). Barton at 7k is safe and has a strong ceiling. I’ll have 20-25% exposure as of right now and might elevate that if Millsap is out.
Victor Oladipo, Justin Holiday, Bradley Beal, Troy Daniels (if no Devin Booker), Devin Booker if he plays, D’Angelo Russell – These players and a few other stragglers will get a 5% minimum setting and be capped at 7/8%. That means that they’ll each be in about 7-10 lineups which gives me a prayer at winning a GPP if they end up in a killer lineup and LeBron fails miserably. I’ll likely be underweight on the field on each player but they’re all in solid spots. *IF* you are going way underweight on LeBron then this list is a grouping I would want to increase my exposure to tonight since you’ll have a lot of extra money.
SF
LeBron – The apple of my eye, he’s going to be set for 70% in my initial run of the optimizer. I likely will lock him for about 100-lineups then uncheck him for 50 lineups and do different combination locks for 5-10 lineups in those 50. Something like, no LeBron and lock Bledsoe, Middleton, Jabari and run it back with Cam Payne and Bobby Portis for 5 lineups…etc to make sure I get some of the groupings of players and combinations I want.
Taurean Prince – He’s let everyone down twice now and again finds himself in a solid spot. I am going back to the well, similar to Schroder, I love him for MME and plan on getting 15% minimum in and letting the optimizer rip.
Josh Jackson – I’ll go 30% or so tonight if Booker is out again. I won’t have an exposure cap. He’s the type of guy that can break the slate if he goes for 50 at low-teen ownership.
Michael Beasley, Denzel Valentine, David Nwaba – All will be set around 10-12% as their ceiling/floor combinations are massive and I wont want over exposure on any of them but definitely want about 15 lineups of each. I likely will lock Nwaba and Valentine for 5/6 lineups and run it as well. I’ll probably lock 4-Bulls and 3-Bucks for a few as well for a true game stack.
Corey Brewer, DeMarre Carroll, Wilson Chandler, and Jayson Tatum – They’ll all get a 7% cap and if they end up in the player pool exposure, great, if they don’t I really could care less. All have upside and downside due to matchup, usage, and minutes. I won’t go out of my way to get them or avoid them. This is where I like letting the optimizer grab or reject people I might have bias against or for.
PF
Kevin Love – He dramatically rubbed his knee towards the end of the game and people are talking about it today. That being said, I don’t care. Smash spot, minutes up, high usage, fast paced game, and injury concerns all mean I’ll go heavy on K Love tonight while the crowd pays down for the trap of the night, Jordan Bell. Love likely will garner 25-35% exposure on my end.
Jabar Parker – Smash spot and minutes up at a discount price? Yes, please! I’ll throw him in about 30% exposure and cap it there too. I am worried that if his minutes go down again that he’ll just “make” value. I can’t see him sinking a team though.
Bobby Portis and Noah Vonleh – As long as Markkannen and Zipser are out, I love Nwaba, Valentine, Portis, and Vonleh. I have no problem rolling out 25-30% of Vonleh at his cheap price and about 10-15% of Portis who will be leaned on heavily tonight offensively.
RHJefferson, Marcus Morris, Taj Gibson, LMA, Crowder, Tobias, Thad Young – These guys will all have a 3-5% cap as most of my exposure at this position will remain tight with the first four guys listed.
The three PFs listed for the Warriors, West/Looney/Bell – I’ll cap each player at 1, 5, 3% in that order for the player listed. I want a little of each but don’t have a pulse on the guy with the edge. Bell is starting but Looney has been playing exceptional basketball as of late. Meh. Unless any of them go for 30+ and are 30% owned I don’t think they’ll hurt me if I miss out.
C
DeAndre Jordan – I dig his matchup and the pace of the game. Turner is going to have his hands full. 35% exposure here.
Nikola Jokic – If Millsap misses, I’ll drop Jordan down to 25% and throw 35% to Jokic minimum and let the optimizer rip. I think he has 65 point upside here and would be my favorite center of the night and one of my favorite overall players.
Felicio – We want uber heavy exposure to Middleton and LeBron, meaning we need some cheap guys to have exposure to. I don’t mind 15-20% and cap it there. About 70-80% exposure will go to these three guys above.
Steven Adams, Al Horford, Ian Mahinmi, Thon Maker, KAT, Pau Gasol, Ed Davis (DK if Nurkic is out) – 3-5% cap on each guy.
Best of luck!
