POINT GUARDS:
Russell Westbrook (OKC vs MIN)
He is dealing with a bruised hand but I’m not worried at all. Westbrook has posted at least 54 FDP in five-straight games, reaching 60 in four of those.
Stephen Curry (GS @ ORL)
ORL is the 5th-best matchup (aDvP) for point guards in the NBA, which is 2nd-best on today’s slate. Reports of Curry still dealing with a sore wrist have surfaced and it’s not specified when this particular injury will actually go away. I don’t feel like it’s a huge issue, but something to monitor nonetheless. The two teams run a fast pace (GS 5th, ORL 6th) and that just makes this the cherry on top.
Elfrid Payton (ORL vs GS)
Just like Curry, the frenetic pace helps Elf as well. Terrence Ross is out of the lineup and Elf will certainly look to have a bigger hand in the offense.
Goran Dragic/Tyler Johnson (MIA vs CHA)
CHA is the 3rd-best matchup (aDvP) for point guards, which is tops on today’s slate.
SHOOTING GUARDS:
Alec Burks/Donovan Mitchell (UTA @ NOLA)
Whatever Burks did before last night’s game is something he should try to duplicate… for the rest of his NBA career. We saw Burks play with unbelievable poise in LA and, while it’ll be incredibly hard to duplicate another 50 fantasy points, he could have another clear path to big minutes. We want to see Hood and Neto ruled out before going back to Burks, and it’s also possible for the Jazz to take it easy with Rubio on the back-end of a B2B.
DeMar DeRozan (TOR vs IND)
It nearly knocked me out of my chair when Keith said he loved DRZ on today’s pod, so something must be good here. IND is one of the better matchups for shooting guards on this slate and DRZ has posted 40+ fantasy points in each of his last five home games. Ohhhhhhhh Cannnnnnadaaaaaa!
Jrue Holiday (NOLA @ UTA)
Solid over the last two games and now Holiday gets a crack at the Jazz who are on the back-end of a B2B. The Jazz aren’t an intimidating defense without Rudy Gobert, as evidenced by last night’s game which had a total of 233 points when it was all said and done.
Evan Fournier (ORL vs GS)
Frenchy has struggled quite a bit recently but the injury to Ross gives Fournier a clear path to big minutes.
SMALL FORWARDS:
Kevin Durant (GS @ ORL)
KD has a team-high 28% usage rate when Andre Iguodala is off the court and he could see additional minutes in this scenario as well.
Otto Porter/Kelly Oubre Jr (WSH vs DET)
Both guys get a massive upgrade with Wall out of the lineup and will likely avoid the Avery Bradley matchup. If you wanna get crazy, going with both of them is an option as well.
Kyle Anderson (SA @ MEM)
At least 28 FDP (rounded up) in six-straight games, reaching upwards of 6-7x value in half of those.
Josh Richardson (MIA vs CHA)
His best games have come with Hassan Whiteside when was out, just as he is tonight. I’m not in love with this matchup but the price tag does not match Richardson’s true potential in this scenario.
POWER FORWARDS:
Anthony Davis (NOLA @ UTA)
The Jazz are a much-undersized team without Rudy Gobert in the lineup and AD should take full advantage of that. There’s also plenty of motivation here with AD being ejected last game and that should have him fired up for tonight.
Taj Gibson (MIN @ OKC)
Way too cheap for someone playing nearly 40 minutes per game and also has a fantastic matchup against lazy Melo. I’ll have him everywhere.
Derrick Favors (UTA vs NOLA)
Simply put, the Jazz NEED Favors to deal with the NOLA twin towers… they don’t have much height down low and this is just a matter of necessity.
Draymond Green (GS @ ORL)
People will continue to overlook Dray when the Fantastic Four are fully intact, but that’s actually the best time to have exposure. On the off-chance that Dray becomes a dynamic offensive threat, ORL is a fantastic matchup for power forwards and centers.
CENTERS:
DeMarcus Cousins (NOLA @ UTA)
Much like my love for AD, there’s just not a lot of bodies on this Jazz team right now that can bang down low with the twin towers of NOLA. Boogie is always a great idea if you can afford him.
Dwight Howard (MIA vs CHA)
Enes Kanter just took this Miami front line (without Hassan Whiteside) to school in their last game so I’m very excited to see what Howard can do with this matchup. Howard has been doing just fine in every matchup lately, reaching 5x value on FanDuel in five of the last six games, and now has more offensive responsibilities with Kemba out.
Jonas Valanciunas (TOR vs IND)
IND has been one of the best matchups for opposing centers this season and JoVal played his most minutes in a while last time out. If he can truly unleash his hidden potential (which he should in this matchup) then he can reach astronomical levels of value at this price.
