Stacks on Stacks for Week 12 of NFL DFS for FanDuel and DraftKings

Stacking has become second nature for a large portion of the DFS populous. It’s a very common strategy, especially in GPPs, to throw together a stack or two and hope that the roster correlation that you built into your lineup sets yourself apart from the field. It’s a great way to raise your overall ceiling and gain more exposure to certain players and teams that you are targeting.

The Following stacks are my personal ideas for Week 12 at the time the article was written. I will likely add a few more and I am sure a couple of these won’t make the final cut. Using our Domination Station in conjunction with my stacks is the best way to attack our ladder system approach for contests.

Top Stacks of Week 12

Tom Brady + Brandin Cooks

Tom Brady + Rob Gronkowski

Tom Brady + Target + Jarvis Landry

Tom Brady + Target + Kenny Stills

The Patriots are massive two-plus touchdown favorites, this outcome will provide us with a fantastic game theory opportunity. For large field GPPs, game theory is the way to get to the top of the mountain. Picture this; Tom Brady throws four touchdowns, two in the red zone to Rob Gronkowski, one deep target to Brandin Cooks (who also finishes with a hefty yardage total), and another dump off to one of his running backs (possibly Dion Lewis who’s a great GPP pivot off of Tevin Coleman). Is there anybody who doesn’t think that outcome is possible? I definitely think it is as we have seen results like this for the past half dozen years.

If this comes to fruition, then the Dolphins likely will be chucking the ball all over the yard in garbage time. This is when Jarvis Landry would get peppered with targets and rack up free points. Kenny Stills would take a handful of deep targets as the playbook is opened up and hopefully could come down with a long touchdown, he is a premier deep threat and has been since his days with the New Orleans Saints.

This exact game theory may or may not play itself out, however, the concept behind theorizing a game for a large field tournament rings true and is sorely lacking by many who play GPPs.

Carson Wentz + Zach Ertz

I fully expect the Bears to bracket coverage Alshon Jeffery, who should be wildly popular today. The Bears have done a great job this season holding down opposing WR1’s. This would likely allow Ertz to shred the middle of the field with the safeties shading towards the outside. It also helps that the Eagles are favorites at home which are two positive correlations for tight ends.

Ben Roethlisberger + Antonio Brown

Ben Roethlisberger + Le’Veon Bell

Ben Roethlisberger + Both

The Steelers have a chance to win this game 35-0 when it’s all said and done. I can see the blitz-happy Steelers defense causing a few short field turnovers which would lead to more short field scoring opportunities for Bell and Big Ben.

The Packers seem like they’re quitting on the field and traveling to Pittsburgh for Sunday Night Football could be an absolute bloodbath. While the field likely will want either Bell or Brown, I don’t think many people will jam them both in which makes that pairing an elite team stack for large field GPPs.

Drew Brees or Jared Goff +

Alvin Kamara or Todd Gurley

Sammy Watkins

Michael Thomas

I love both sides of the ball in this game. I think Watkins is about to explode against the weakened secondary of the Saints and I believe that Kamara is going to stretch the Rams out east and west while Brees is able to rack up the passing yards off play-action because of Mark Ingram bruising between the tackles. I think the field goes to Ingram over Kamara because of his touchdown equity, so Kamara was listed here for stacking purposes.

Michael Thomas is a great pivot away from Mike Evans, Doug Baldwin, A.J. Green, and a few other high-end targets that have a similar price tag.

Todd Gurley is my projected highest scoring running back in Week 12, even higher than Le’Veon Bell. He should do quite well against the Saints on both the ground and in the air.

Russell Wilson + Nobody

I love him today and just wanted to make sure you guys all knew if you had missed my article I published on Saturday. Plug and play.

Jacoby Brissett + Ty Hilton

Jacoby Brissett + Jack Doyle

Jacoby Brissett + Ty Hilton + Delanie Walker

I think this game has shootout potential and the points should be focused on a few skilled players.

Brissett is my option over Marcus Mariota simply because of his price tag on both sites. I highlighted him on Saturday in my cash game plays as a sneaky play because he’s averaging nearly 19 PPG if you take out his matchup against the Seahawks and the other game against the Jags. Besides those two, he’s been rock solid.

Tyrod Taylor + Tyreke Hill

Tyrod Taylor + Travis Kelce

Tyrod Taylor + LeSean McCoy + Target

T-Mobile is about to make Sean McDermott look silly. He should do a decent job avoiding the pass rush from the Chiefs and is a QB I think the team rallies around after a few abysmal showings.

If Tyrod is able to keep the offense chugging along, the Chiefs likely will be scoring at will against the reeling Bills defense that has a few gaping holes. Kelce and Hill should eat all game as they absolutely dwarf the opponent in their individual matchups in Week 12.

Leveraging Example

In GPPs, specifically large field GPPs, there really is no need for dart throws. For the most part, we just need to leverage situations. If the Saints passing game is going to be highly owned, use Ingram and hope for rushing touchdowns. That not only helps you but it hurts any lineup that had Brees with Michael Thomas. Focus on plays like that while constructing large field GPPs. Our $150,000 winner in Week 5 took second play in the Sunday Million by creating the ultimate leverage lineup. Every single player in his lineup was a good player. There was no Kenny Stills or Antonio Gates type plays. He chose guys who were talented and overshadowed by other plays at the position that would be more popular. If you want more examples and breakdown of how to leverage, read this.

Best of luck to you in Week 9. You can find me on Twitter @DFSnDONUTS or in Slack in the #NFL-TALK or #DAILYDONUTS channels.
