Fall in soldiers!
The following are my week 14 player picks and notes for both Fanduel and Draftkings. This list is meant to be comprehensive and includes every player on the slate that I am considering using in my lineups. Green highlights indicate chalky plays I feel everyone will be on this week. Use those in cash, hybrid and GPP lineups. I’m leaving in Red highlights to indicate plays I consider GPP only. That’s a warning to avoid those players in your cash and hybrid lineups. I’ve also left in some orange shading for players I consider punts. Punts are higher risk players that are in good spots with very cheap salaries. We generally need a couple of punts to fit studs. BOLDED PLAYERS ARE MY TOP PICKS OF THE WEEK
Looking at the week 14 we once again have quite a divergence between Fanduel and Draftkings as far as the salaries go. Fanduel is much softer which allows us to load up on studs at most every position while mixing in a few value plays or punts. On Draftkings the salary algorithm is much tougher which kind of forces us to make some difficult choices. First of all, as much as I want to load up on David Johnson and LeVeon Bell at $9K+ its going to be cost prohibitive to do so. Some of my favorite punts are names like Taylor Gabriel, Teddy Ginn, Malcolm Mitchell and even Kenny Britt. Another strategy may be to load up on cheap TE’s including one in the flex.
At QB this week there are actually a ton of options that look solid. For that reason I doubt that any one stack or QB will be incredibly high owned. The first Hybrid/Cash lineup I put together this week featured a Winston to Evans stack. I generally want a ton of exposure to that game and the Bucs offense at home this week. There’s a ton more to like however so I’m going to try and get a wide swath of exposure across the spectrum of the QB’s on the picks list. Luck to Hilton, Manning to OBJ, Rivers to Tyrell, Naked Wilson. Even Cam at home either naked or stacked with Olsen or Ginn. Anytime I can get Cam at home with low ownership I’m intrigued.
At WR, Evans, and Beckham are my favorite stud plays followed by TY Hilton. At RB – my favorite non Bell/DJ player this week is McCoy. He’s been so beastly week in and out. Never a dud unless he gets hurt. I’m concerned about Gilleslee vulturing TD’s but I also think that will keep his ownership numbers lower then they should be.
There are a couple of injury situations to watch – Rodgers still has the hammy. He’s such a mobility based QB that any leg injuries could limit his effectiveness. Jordan Reed is rumored to potentially be coming back this week. I liked Vernon Davis alot before that rumor. I’m not playing Reed regardless but his return hampers the VD situation. Another one is Michael Thomas for the Saints. He hasn’t practiced so far and is supposedly a GTD. If Thomas is out, we need to give a major bump to Snead and Cooks for the Saints.
