NHL Building Blocks – April 20

NHL Building Blocks – April 20

The playoffs are here!  Two Eastern Conference games kick us off.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – April 20
The Goalie:
 Fredrik Andersen ($8100 DK / $8200 FD)
Should be popular as the Hurricanes are firing on all cylinders and are elite in all facets of the game.  Andersen missed a large chunk of the season due to injury/illness, but he’s been exceptional (13-2-0 / 1.84 / .932), and he’s fresh, which is a great facet to Carolina’s Cup hopes.  The Isles’ offense isn’t elite (they averaged just below three goals per game on the season), but they’re playing well; still, the Canes are solid favorites in this series.

The Center:  Sebastian Aho ($7400 DK/ $8100 FD)
Great season (career-high 89 points) and plays all three positions.  Should have some good opportunities in this one.

The Wing:  Jake Guentzel ($7800 DK/ $9000 FD)
Great addition at the deadline (eight goals and 17 assists in 17 games and averaging over three shots per game); formed some great chemistry with Aho.

The Defenseman:  Noah Dobson ($5600 DK / $6500 FD)
Back after missing the past few games and should be rested.  Great floor all around.

The Value:  Max Domi ($2800 DK / $4800 FD)
Might slot up onto L1 if Nylander can’t go; PP2 and kills penalties as well.

The Stack: CAR1 (Aho-Guentzel-Jarvis)
One of the most efficient and productive lines over the last month, thanks to the addition of Guentzel (33 goals between these three since the deadline).  Mix in Svechnikov as a secondary/power play piece.

The Builder:  none
