JD’s Junk Yard Dogs For Draftkings DFS NHL for Tues January 23rd 2018

JD’s Junk Yard Dogs For Draftkings DFS NHL for Tues January 23rd  2018

Back with another Junk Yard Dogs blog post, where I discuss players from the junk end of the cost scale who might be able to help with your line up builds.  The theory behind this is based on @choppodong ‘s Bottom Up line up building videos, which if you haven’t watched you really should.  You can find them here ( YouTube ).  For more detailed versions, join dfsarmy.com‘s vip program and gain full access.

I am not one of the coaches, and I am really just trying to give back to the great community we have here.

Remember, for value we are looking for players hitting about .6 points or more per $1000 in price. We are generally looking at players whose DK cost is $4500 or under.  This isn’t to say there aren’t value players at higher cost, but the purpose of this blog is to help you find those cheaper plays that leave you lot of cap room to fit in those studs you want.

With so many games tonight, there are more options so I have made the cut off $4000 for tonight.

This new stat sheet tool (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MltDdt0l9M-TxXDdiBYXqxdMVDBjppIC3p1iQXgYoNQ/edit#gid=0) is a where some of the stats come from.

Defense

Macdonald ( Phi) $3200 Detroit has clamped down defensively lately, dropping over .5 goals/game.  On the other side the Flyers have increased their scoring about that same .5 goals per game.  Macdonald has been averaging 1.75 DK pts per game over his last 10, and has hit value in 8 /10 games.  The game has an O/U of 5.5 with the Flyers having a slight edge on implied team totals.  Given his consistency and low price, Macdonald offers some solid value.

Braun (SJ) $3200/Morrissey (Wpg) $3400.  I have put these two together as the write ups would be similar.  San Jose’s scoring is up .7 goals/game the last few weeks over their season average.  Braun has a floor averaging 1.85 DK pts/ game and has hit value in 8/10.   Morrissey has a floor of 1.9 Dk pts/game and also hit value in 8/10.  Morrissey’s floor comes mostly from blocked shots, so with San Jose’s increased offense and being at home, that should provide more opportunity for Morrissey to get in those shooting lanes.  Braun is more balanced between blocked shots and shots on goal, and should have more opportunity in the offensive end of the rink.

I am going to call Braun as my value d man of the night due to being at home and his slightly cheaper price.

Other Plays:  Stecher (Van), Johns ( Dal), Scandella ( Buf), and Girard ( Col).

Wingers

Dzingle $3600/ B Ryan $3700 ( Ott)  Normally Ottawa isn’t a team to write home about, but the Blues are giving up more goals and the Sens have slightly increased their scoring, so these 2 might be in play for you if you need a cheap wing.  They both have an avg of 2.7 DK pts and hit value in 6/10

Bertuzzi (Det) $3700  With Detroit’s scoring down and the Flyers goals against down slightly, Bertuzzi might not be in the best spot.  He did score last night, and has a nice avg of 3.1 DK while hitting value in 6/10

Johannson (NJ) $3800 Similar situation to Bertuzzi above, but a lower avg at 2.5 in 6/10.

Williams (Car) $3800 The Penguins have been a little more stingy lately, while Carolina is scoring about normal.  Williams however was just a tick shy of hitting value in 8 of his last 10, with a avg of 2.6 DK pts/game.  Just based on that consistency Williams is my call at Wing tonight.

Centre

Kerfoot ( Col) $3400  Colorado is hot having won 10 straight.  Montreal is not good.  At this cheap price, with time on pp2, 2.5 DK pts per game, and hitting value in 6/10, if you are looking to pay down at centre then this is my suggested place to look.

Nash ( Bos) $3700 Boston is scoring almost a full goal a game more than their season average.  NJ is pretty steady allowing around 3 goals a game.  Boston has an implied team total of almost 3.5.  Though he doesn’t get pp time, Nash is a cheap way to get exposure to the Bruins offense.

Other Plays   Gourde (TB)

Good luck tonight.  Check out other articles on the site and listen to the coaches in Slack.
