Each week I will break down the biggest games of the weeks so you can find your cash and core players. I will even throw in some GPP plays. Let’s see what Gameweek 18 has in store for us.
Arsenal v Newcastle
Arsenal has been Jekyll and Hyde this season. They could score 5 at home and then go on the road and score 0. Oh, wait, that just happened. Luckily for us, they are home to a team that has given up 7 goals in their last 3 games. Arsenal is your slate chalk. As such, expect high ownership for one Alexis Sanchez. I like him for cash games. He should have his hand in everything that Arsenal plans to do. Arsenal likes to funnel shots through their forwards so I like Alexandre Lacazette in GPP. He will also be popular. I want to see who starts for Ramsey because he could open up some value. The other side of this one is strictly GPP.
Chelsea v Southampton
Another solid home favorite means more solid ownership. Midfielders should see the ownership in this one. Your cash play is Cesc Fabregas, especially on DK. In analyzing the breakdown of the Southampton shots, they give up a slightly above average shot rate to defense. I like Davide Zappacosta in GPP for this reason. Why Zappacosta over Alonso? It’s a combination of the number of chances conceded by Huddersfield and the number of chances created by Chelsea on that side of the pitch. You can find these numbers in the VIP sheets.
Manchester City v Tottenham
City in the late game means you will probably won’t have heavy exposure to it but there is value on both sides of this one. This match has a 2-1 feel so itis likely tough sledding and a grinding win for City. I probably won’t be getting too deep into this one. If you are on DK, you will likely be looking at Kevin De Bruyne as the only cash viable player. On Fanduel you can use him or David Silva for cheaper. He typically gives similar production.
On the Spurs side of things, I like looking to defenders. I am thinking someone like Kieran Trippier or Serge Aurier. I want to attack Man City from the right. Either of them should man the right back position and in GPP, you should try to find a way to get at least 1 player in late to protect against the point slide. Your call on how you want to play it. It is not an easy matchup for either side.
Best of the Rest
There are some solid cash plays available and that is what this section will focus on.
- Richarlison, WAT – Huddersfield cannot contain opposing forwards and they have conceded goals at a 25% clip in their last 3 matches.
- Aaron Mooy, HUD – Watford is always capable of fouling and the Huddersfield playmaker is always capable of taking advantage
- Duffy, BHA – He kind of does a bit of everything besides cross. On DK he should give very good production for his $3200 price tag. Burnley gives up the most shots to defenders on the slate.
Between the Sticks
Here are my choices for GPP Goalkeeper. If you are a regular reader of mine, then you know I like going for the saves. I think this is a week where I shoot for that on DK, too. If I happen to get the W, then yay bonus.
- Nick Pope, BUR – I like playing him on the road because Burnley gives up so many shots and it becomes so easy for him to give you cash value. He will be super popular.
- Hugo Lloris, TOT – Tottenham is pretty good defensively and I expect that to be on display under the barrage that City unleashes. Matches City has played against top sides have typically not gotten out of hand. The pricing structure devalues keepers against City but quality keepers can go off for a solid day. GPP play.

- Jack Butland, STK – The guy just makes saves and this match should play back and forth and allow West Ham some opportunities for shots. GPP.
