Kickin it on the Pitch w/ TreyJ – EPL DFS – 4/21/17

We got ourselves a short slate for the main this week.  4 matches that, while they could be better, should be fairly competitive.  Normally, I give you the matches you should target in building your core.  This week, it is a bit more open in terms of how you want to do it.  Since this week is different, so, too, will be this write-up.

First question you need to ask yourself is how you wish to anchor your team.  Romelu Lukaku? He is the only player in 5 figures on fanduel and 1 of 2 on Draftkings.  The other there is Gylfie Sigurdsson.  With injuries and such it is possible to fit both, but you have to decide if it is worth it.

So before we continue, let’s get with a few big injuries.  West Ham with be without Andy Carroll.  I actually liked him in this spot but oh well.  Boro will be without Victor Valdes.  Brad Guzan should get the start in his stead.  Jack Wilshere is out the rest of the season for Bournemouth with a leg fracture.

Now that you have your stud(s), you need to build around them. Here are a couple people in solid spots at each position.

Forwards

Josh King – they tend to use him in behind afobe.  He gets much of the posession and Boro shouldn’t have an answer for him.

Fernando Llorente – he has a couple games under his belt and should be feeling good.  Stoke can let you in close.  If we like Gylfie, we should have some feelings for the guy that Swansea desperately missed while he was hurt.

Midfielders

Kamil Grosicki – Hull switches their formations and their personnel.  If he starts, he is in a wonderful spot.  Playing a bit on the left side and that is the weaker side for their opponents, defensively.  He also gets some set piece duty.  Higher price on DK but his pricing is somewhat criminal on Fanduel.

Marko Arnautovic – So this one is kinda cheating.  He is only midfield eligible on DK but he is the best offensive play for stoke.

Defense

This is not a week where I would freely get cute at defense.  I’m paying up and reaping the rewards.

Martin Olsson – he will provide crosses for Swansea where Sigurdsson is not involved.  This should be a game where he can get forward for much of the game. I would rather have him on DK.

Ashley Williams – he can get it done on both ends of the pitch and his play is a bit more sustainable than the guy next to him.  Probably a better play in Fanduel than DK, but don’t completely hate it.

Goalkeepers

Eldin Jakupovic – hull plays good defense but not so awesome to limit the number of shots.  He is my number 1 choice.

Brad Guzan – he is cheap and probably will be popular.  If you are playing cash or a multiplier, maybe not a bad idea.  Bournemouth creates chances at home and that gives him some save equity for not a lot of money.

3 Final Thoughts

  1. West Ham is total GPP play.  Nobody on that team is consistent enough for a cash or even core play so attack with caution.
  2. Boro is only good for defense on fanduel, outside of the keeper. Other than that I am not touching them.
  3. It’s Friday night and I need more beer.
