Kickin it on the Pitch w/ TreyJ – DFS EPL – Gameweek 31 Part 1

We are in the home stretch of the Premier League season.  For those keeping track this is gameweek 31. Gameweek 32 is right on its heels this weekend.  This week is broken up into 2 relatively solid slates, as opposed to the main slate and a mini slate.  As such, this write-up will be broken up into the 2 slates.  There is a slate including all 10 matches of the week if you are so inclined.

Tuesday

We have 4 games on this slate and I am looking at 2 games, in particular.  There are one-off opportunities that could provide some value in the other games but you should look at Leicester/Sunderland and Man U/Everton.

Leicester v Sunderland

So when I said you should look at this game for your core, what I really meant was you should look at Leicester.  If you have been on vacation, let me tell you that Leicester’s hangover seems to have subsided.  They are back to scoring goals and they are scoring them in bunches.  When April 4th is in the books, we could see Leicester as having scored the most goals on the slate.  I don’t like this spot for Sunderland one bit.  Expect Leicester to fully dominate the possession and the sunderland attack to be stifled.

Leicester will continue to drive on what works until it doesn’t.  They are getting much better play out of their midfield and it allows them to sustain attacks.  It starts with Wilfried Ndidi.  He will need to be solid in the midfield to hold up possession and distribute.  I like him this week.  I also think this is a spot we could see Riyad Mahrez shine.  There is no Marc Albrighton to send in crosses, so more of the play should flow through his side.

Manchester United v Everton

Man U tends to control the game through possession and a barage of shots.  Everton actually has a style of play that is perfect for this type of game.  What I mean by that is, Everton plays a bit of a counter-attacking style.  They defend in their own third 30% of the time and they have a potent attack, headlined by Romelu Lukaku.

Zlatan returns from his ban.  You can expect he will make his mark on the match. On the other side of this match, I am eyeing the attacking midfield as the beneficiary of a wonderful counter.

Between the Sticks

  1. Joel Robles – Man U at home.
  2. Ben Foster – Watford shoots a bit at home but West Brom is solid defensively.
  3. Tom Heaton – Burnley is stingy at home.
