DFS Army “Point After” NFL Review Preview Week 11

Good morning, everyone!  It’s time to fire up the chuck wagon for another week of review/preview where we quickly glance at what was Week 10 and quickly look ahead to Week 11.  Here’s what we know.  First, the DFS Army is cranking out winner after winner on a weekly basis right now.  Many of our players have belonged to other sites and have even bought lineups from providers/sellers around the industry.  I have yet to hear one say the DFS Army is not the best decision they have ever made for learning, growth of their game, and overall community in like-minded players continually lifting each other up while all competing to win a little scratch along the way.  I can’t stress enough how much fun it is to get involved with our private Slack Community and interact in real time with both our coaches and successful players.

We have questions presented every week regarding which players we like best, and our coaches and regulars are getting very good at giving informed advice.  The Army covers every major sport from NFL to PGA, with coaches in each sport to help you get better.  The accessibility of these coaches is something you cannot find anywhere without hiring someone privately and paying upwards of $100/hr for their time.  I can deliver this to you for $20/mo.  That’s right……$20/mo gets you access to our cheatsheets, optimizer, player picks, articles of both strategy and tutorials, and the accessibility to our coaches and regulars.  Use coupon code CHOP, and I can knock an additional 20% off for the life of your membership.  For 50c a day, you really have nothing to lose.  Read through our articles and strategy pieces, and click this link HERE to make yourself a better player.

Winners Circle

Take a quick look at some of these from various sports.  Our players are very well rounded and are becoming a force to be reckoned with around the industry.  If you see us, your victory will be earned.  We are not fish.  We are competitive players.  And, perhaps the best thing I can say is we DO NOT provide lineups.  We BUILD OUR OWN from research and effort.  We share information and take advice from our coaches, sure, but we are taking great satisfaction from earning our keep in this industry rather than piggy-backing off other providers offering the easy way out.  If you think like we do, you need to join the movement and see what we are all about! We win.  It’s as simple as that.

You see above we have winners of all sizes and all experience levels on different sites.  We are just a bunch of fun-loving guys and gals that love the game and want to win.  Nobody is too new.  Nobody is too experienced to become a member of the DFS Army.

Quick Strategy Session

Allow me to share with you just a couple of things I’ve learned since becoming both a player and contributor within the Army.  Let’s discuss, briefly, a couple of fundamental tips in building winning lineups.  And, of course, we can talk in much more detail inside once you get there.

Build Around A Core

Many players like to build several lineups.  That’s definitely one way to hedge your risk, as discussed just last week in our comparison piece “Single or Multiple Lineups.”  Your core may vary from week to week, but try and keep it largely the same during that week.  Maybe it’s your favorite QB/WR stack.  Maybe it’s 2 RBs and a DST.  Whatever it is, lock it in and have confidence in your most important plays by putting them in most of your lineups.  Then, you simply revolve your other secondary picks around that core.  If your core hits well, it is the “solid contact” you need to get up a leaderboard.  If your secondaries do well in a particular lineup, they catapult off that initial blast and might just push you right over the top.  If your core does well, you are set up across the board and are likely set up to cash in all of your lineups only depending on how well those secondary picks perform.

Spend Up for Defense and Kicker

Many players feel they need to save money on volatile positions like defense and kicker.  Well, another way to go is to pay up in this spot and take the best the position has to offer.  They are the best, and most consistent, for a reason after all.  Knowing most players look to “punt” these spots also gives you a little edge when you go the other way.  Most people also take defenses playing at home.  If you see a huge road favorite, don’t shy away from him and further take advantage of those too afraid to take the chance.

Going All-In

A popular topic in our Slack Forums is our “all in” calls for the week.  Sometimes it’s just one player.  Other times it can be as many as 3 or 4.  While this obviously varies week to week, the question is often asked “is all-in the same as 100% exposure?”  The answer is NO.  100% exposure in a game like football very much increases your risk to early game injuries, concussion protocols, and simply poor performances, which do happen.  All in, in the Army, simply means a player you don’t mind having in most of your lineups.  The rule of thumb is around 50-67% exposure, rarely more.  But, it does happen in the situation of a back up running back thrust into the starting role for a dirt cheap price in a week proving to be difficult to find any value.  We’ve already done so twice this year as a group.  However, it’s important to note it’s still a rare occurrence.

Week 10 in Review

CLE – They just suck.  I have them #32 in my power rankings only because I can’t slide DeVry University’s team in there and drop the Browns to #33.

BAL- So confusing.  I’m not falling for the game vs CLE as some indicator that team figured anything “fantasy worthy” out.

KC- has issues.  They can’t score against good running defenses.  And, they need an early lead.  Alex Smith will NOT throw you back into a game.  Won’t happen.  Don’t expect it.

CAR- I suppose this Cam guy don’t care bout no concussions.  He just run and run and run.  By the way, that 5yd TD run was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen from a QB.  He pushed 4 defenders from a dead stop at the 3 into the endzone.  Those dudes need to eat their Wheaties because they should be very embarrassed.

HOU- OMG Osweiler is bad. And, it’s hurting DHop and Lamar.

JAX- Bortles ain’t great, either.  ARob might be regressing to his mean (a good thing here) and Marquise Lee is viable, though, while Hurns isn’t completely healthy.

DEN- When will people realize Booker isn’t all that and a bag of chips?  He is way overpriced.  This is three weeks now he hasn’t performed like anything other than a value back you hope goes off.

NO- Brees might be having an MVP type season.  I’m starting to think he is playable everywhere and against anyone.

LAR- I have no words.

NYJ- I have only two words.   Matt Forte.

ATL- If you are allergic to poultry, you likely choked just like the Dirty Birds.  Running game is a shit show.  Julio is all they have.  Matty Ice is drifting into his own ice age as the year goes by.

PHI- RBBC sucks.  Remember this tip:  Avoid them.  You can’t time them.  They are for tourneys ONLY.

CHI- Just when I thought the forced action to Alshon was resurfacing, Culter went back to DGAF and Alshon was apparently cheating the whole time.  Dude, if you are going to use PEDs, make the fuck sure you don’t get the placebos. Those things did nothing for him, am i right?

TB- Oh Mike Evans, you are literally the best hide and seek player ever.

GB- If Rodgers is going to throw the ball 51 times every game, Mike McCarthy will be looking for work in January.  But, I’m playing a lot of Discount Doublecheck between now and then on volume alone.

TEN- OMG Green Bay…..the RB threw all over you!  Delanie might be the most cash safe TE out there.  You guys keep paying up for Gronk or Reed and paying down for Brate and Gates.  I’ll keep taking the forgotten man in the middle……the Al Horford of NFL if you play NBA.

MIN- Another team with no running game whatsoever.  Problem is Sam Bradford is NOT going to throw you into the playoffs.  Your defense will get you there if you make it.  First 5 games were great.  Last 5 games were not.  I wonder what we are in store for going forward, and I bet Vikes fans feel the same.

WAS- Ummm, Kirk Cousins is good.  And, Jamison Crowder is a red zone target and a decent value play on FanDuel most weeks.

MIA- I don’t have anything monumental or funny to say about this.  I guess Ajayi finally let us down, but whatevs.  I was on DJ, Bell, Zeke, and Murray so I was very minimally affected anyway.

SD- I need to roster more Rivers. Tyrell is clearly his “move the chains” guy.  Nice stack most weeks.

SF- I didn’t see them fighting like this, but I’m not changing my opinion of boycotting them either.

ARI- The DJ show took the stage as predicted even if not as spectacular as usual.  I didn’t see Palmer throwing this much here at all.  And, I didn’t see some resurgence of Michael Floyd at all.  If I had it to do all over again, I still wouldn’t change a thing.

DAL- You can talk Dak.  I’m talking Zeke.  My mind is starting to blow here.  Maybe I should have believed he was worth a 1st in my season long drafts instead of laughing at those guys drafting a rookie that high.

PIT- Looks like Big Ben is healthy.  I’d make sure he’s not using the same doctors Alshon used.  Dude must be bionic or something.

SEA- Yup….didn’t see this one coming either.  I knew Baldwin could go off, because I saw Jarvis torch the Pats, but I didn’t see it to this level.  Thank you Dougie for helping me win my games.  Oh, and Russ looks like he can move and create again.  He’s back on the radar.  Many of you had him on yours way too early.

NE- Hmmm…yes, I said Blount early in the week.  I asked if there was ANY interest on the podcast.  What can I tell you…….go with your gut.  I didn’t and it hurt.  I had a lot of Brady and he couldn’t save my losing lines.  Shit happens.

CIN/NYG- I didn’t play any slate including this game.  I had no interest and still don’t.  Let me help you……Eli sucks.  O’Dell is good, but depending on said suckage.  Dalton is meh.  And, AJ is the freaking man but depends on the fire crotch not sucking too.  Both teams have rather disappointing defenses, and both have the worst RBBCs for DFS since you can’t really predict their usages at all.  Did I miss anything?  That’s without seeing a single play from that game.  I was playing basketball at my church because I felt it would be more fun to clank layups and build brick houses from 20 feet like any 42 year old white boy that never played organized basketball can do.  Sadly, I was right…..it WAS more fun than watching MNF.

Week 11 Preview

Bye weeks: ATL, DEN, NYJ, SD

Games to watch:  NO/CAR, PIT/CLE, TEN/IND, NE/SF, GB/WAS

I might take Drew Brees on the road this week since CAR has been torched all year.  I will definitely take some Cam.  PIT at CLE feels like a trap for all but LeVeon given Ben’s road splits.  Ummmm Zeke feels matchup proof.  If Bortles is ever gonna have a game, it might be against DET.  I’m very intrigued by Mariota and Luck and their potential shootout in the former RCA Dome.  I might actually find a DJ fade in the Great White North, but I also might regret that statement.  I wish Blount hadn’t had that game because out in SF, he might do even more.  Kirk Cousins, yes please.  Monday Night game?  Yeh….not interested again.

Short preview, but like all weeks you can see how much changes.  Besides, there aren’t a lot of Vegas lines released yet, and that starts my research.  I really don’t put a lot of thought into anything until I see all the lines.  The above is simply what jumped out at me without really looking.

Follow us in Slack, and on Twitter (@ChoppoDong), to see how Week 11 evolves.  And, get inside here and join all our above winners that will tell you the Army has done more for their games than other sites they have joined.  It’s not going to be a secret for long!
