DFS NHL is a volatile sport centering around correlation, stacking and game theory. Learning how to win cash games and tournaments requires nailing those great upside plays/stacks, grabbing obvious value, and making the proper fades that sink everyone else’s ships. Let’s look through today’s slate and identify those winning picks in “Snipes and Grinders!”
All of my plays make sense for the entire DFS industry; however, if there is an egregious discrepancy in player salary between sites, I will mention it in my briefing.
Snipe = Good Play
Grinder = Value Plays (Grinders are Valuable)

Why are there so many games on a random Thursday? No clue. Honestly not a lot of slam dunk spots on this slate either. Other than my favorite 2 stacks, I enjoy the pricing of the LA Kings across the industry, and I like the Devils up against the Kraken in a pace up matchup. Ya’ll really need to join up in our discord, because on a slate like this, you need that edge of knowing all of the final thoughts of our coaches after goalies are confirmed and lines are finalized. Now, let’s get to it.
Correlated Snipe #1
Patrik Laine – Johnny Gaudreau
The Jackets are at home against the Ducks in the battle for Connor Bedard. In other words, these are the 2 worst teams tanking for the first overall pick. With that being said, the Ducks are worse than the Jackets talent wise, and the Jackets are better at home than on the road; by a lot, actually. Last game Laine took 10 shots on goal, and 2 games ago he potted a hat-trick. As a Blue Jacket fan, I want them to lose this game; however, they are not smart and will win. The Ducks defense is utterly atrocious, and I will be just attacking them here.

Correlated Snipe #2
Aleksander Barkov – Sam Reinhart – Anton Lundell
Montreal is not very good, and Sam Montembeault cannot continue to start every game for them. With that in mind, the Panthers top line is heating up. Lundell is cheap and scoring regularly since getting promoted to Barkov’s wing. Reinhart is simply a talented guy that correlates with Barkov on the powerplay as well; and, finally, Barkov is just Barkov. Simply elite. Montreal is due for a bad goalie performance, especially if Montembeault doe not play.

NHL Grinder Value Plays
Grinder #1
William Dufour – I know nothing about this kid. He just got called up by the Islanders and will look to capitalize on the opportunity. Super cheap, may play a lot of minutes.
Grinder #2
Kirill Marchenko – Probably the Blue Jackets 3rd or 4th best offensive player right now. Nobody ever knows what the Blue Jackets will do with their lines, but we have seen hat trick upside form this young, tall, goofy Russian.
Grinder #3
Taylor Raddysh – Still supe cheap after a couple of weeks of solid games. Cash game safe, and plays powerplay minutes as well as top 6 minutes for the crappy Blackhawks.
