NHL DFS Tournament Picks and Strategy | Snipes & Grinders, Projections for Fanduel and Draftkings 11/10/22

DFS NHL is a volatile sport centering around correlation, stacking and game theory.  Learning how to win cash games and tournaments requires nailing those great upside plays/stacks, grabbing obvious value, and making the proper fades that sink everyone else’s ships.  Let’s look through today’s slate and identify those winning picks in “Snipes and Grinders!”

All of my plays make sense for the entire DFS industry; however, if there is an egregious discrepancy in player salary between sites, I will mention it in my briefing.

Snipe = Good Play
Grinder = Value Plays (Grinders are Valuable)

DFS NHL Slate Overview:

NHL season is here! Check out all of our industry-leading content on dfsarmy.com, and if interested feel free to DM me personally and I’ll get your journey started. Remember, our mission is a process, we grow and learn every day; figure out what our competitors are doing, identify the correct plays, and calculate the correct ways to attack each slate. Every slate is different and can be attacked in different ways. We also have great tools to work with like the domination station (optimizer), the research station, chalk boards, as well as tons of coaches readily available in our discord.

Now – onto hockey

Big slate here with some high priced options as well as some sneaky stacks. The 3 primary stacks of the high-priced stud range would be the Oilers, Bruins, and Avalanche’s top players. Out of those 3 stacks I would rank them based on raw fantasy points and upside; Avalanche, Bruins, Oilers. McDavid and Draisaitl will always draw ownership, but Carolina has a very stingy defense; plus, I am not sure if Evander Kane suits up for this game after his scary incident where his wrist got skated on. I also like the Devils at home against the Senators, with Bratt and Hughes having a great year thus far. Avoid the Blue Jackets vs Flyers game with the return of John Tortarella and Cam Atkinson to Columbus; just 2 crappy teams that are completely unpredictable. Free random money play. Travis Sanheim obliterates the Blue Jackets; if you must gamble on that poopy game. Timo Meier is my cash game staple of the slate, pure shooter. Now, stack time.

Correlated Snipe #1

Brady Tkachuk – Tim Stuetzle – Jake Sanderson

Their primary line-mate is Claude Giroux; however, he does not correlate on the first powerplay unit with them. Tkachuk and Stuetzle are heating up and both on the first powerplay unit as well. Where Jake Sanderson comes in, is on that top powerplay unit, as well as the top penalty kill. This cheap rookie defenseman is seeing all situations, plenty of minutes, and will score his first career goal soon enough. The Devils love to play a fast game, and the Senators surely will oblige. This game is fully stackable, but I obviously prefer the Senators side this go around. Somethings got to give; I think the Devils have overperformed to start the year, and the Senators have underperformed. I will use my gut, as well as the law of averages here.

Correlated Snipe #2

Anze Kopitar – Gabriel Vilardi – Adrian Kempe

The Kings top line needs to pick it up, and I think the will here against the Blackhawks. The Kings enjoy home ice typically, especially Gabe Vilardi and his 10 goals this season. These boys correlate on he powerplay as well, which everyone knows I love. Also, these guys are pretty cost effective on DraftKings. The Blackhawks suck, their goalies suck, the Kings are at home and good; how is that for world class analysis? Sometimes simplicity is the most genuine form of sophistication.

NHL Grinder Value Plays

Grinder #1

Fabian Zetterlund – Devils top line with Hischier; and is heating up.

Grinder #2

Lucas Raymond – Insulting salary on DraftKings.

Grinder #3

Kevin Lebanc – Top 6 forward on the Sharks, the Blues are in shambles. Loves to shoot.

Grinder #4

Jordan Kyrou – Too talented and important for thus salary.

Grinder #5

Joel Farabee – Skilled kid, plays the crappy Blue Jackets
