Main MLB Slate Player Projections and Stacks:

Cleveland Guardians (+128) @ New York Yankees (-152)

Guardians – 3.0 IRT

Yankees – 3.6 IRT

Rundown:

We get a 3-game slate today after yesterday’s game was postponed into today, so we’ll kick it off with that game in New York. The Guardians will send Shane Bieber to the mound and he made a splash in his first playoff start this year going 7.2 innings with eight strikeouts against the Rays. He has a 25% strikeout rate on the season and is a guy I think we can go right back to the well with against this Yankees lineup. Speaking of the Yankees, they’ll send Nestor Cortes Jr. to the mound against a middle-of-the-road lineup. He’s been really good against the Guardians this season averaging 25.1 DraftKings points per game in two games against them. He’s an elite play in all formats with a 26.5% strikeout rate on the season.

CLE 5-star plays: Jose Ramirez

4-star plays: Amed Rosario, Steven Kwan

GPP Note: I like Cortes more than I like this stack, but there are some playable one-offs.

NYY 5-star plays: Aaron Judge

4-star plays: Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres, Anthony Rizzo

GPP Note: Bieber is one of my favorite pitchers on the slate, but it’s hard to ignore this Yankees lineup.

nfl winning strategy

Atlanta Braves (+105) @ Philadelphia Phillies (-121)

Implied Run Totals:

Braves – 3.5 IRT

Phillies – 3.7 IRT

Rundown:

The Braves will look to take a 2-1 series lead as they send Charlie Morton to the mound. Morton is pretty easily the cheapest pitcher on both DraftKings and FanDuel and I’m not sure that’s warranted. He’s struggled over his last couple of games including a game where he gave up six earned against this Phillies team. That being said, he does have an elite 28.2% strikeout rate on the season and makes for a nice SP2 option. I don’t think I want to go to him on a single pitcher site on FanDuel, but he’ll look like a great pairing with a more expensive option. On the other side of this one, Aaron Nola will take the mound for the Phillies. Nola has made five starts against the Braves this season, averaging 24.1 DraftKings points per game in those starts, and will look like a great option in all formats on both DraftKings and FanDuel. He may be my favorite pitcher on the slate depending on how you feel about Cortes… and this Braves lineup, which is scary.

***Quick update – Spencer Strider will start for the Braves, not Charlie Morton. Strider has a really nice price tag on DraftKings and is priced appropriately on FanDuel. The kid has electric stuff and has an elite 38.3% strikeout rate on the season. He’s a great play in all formats here and one of my favorite pitchers on the slate.***

ATL 5-star plays: Austin Riley

4-star plays: Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson, Michael Harris

GPP Note: I will likely have a bunch of Nola, but that doesn’t mean you can’t play a batter or two against him.

PHI 5-star plays: Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber

4-star plays: Nick Castellanos, JT Realmuto, Rhys Hoskins

GPP Note: This might be my favorite offense on the slate even after hyping up Morton a little bit… whoops!

Watching the weather is half the battle when it comes to MLB DFS. The DFS Army Weather Station has you covered, from games that have delay and postponement potential, to games that could have significant winds that will play a roll in selecting a team to stack or a pitcher to use.

Los Angeles Dodgers (-120) @ San Diego Padres (+104)

Implied Run Totals:

Dodgers – 3.9 IRT

Padres – 3.7 IRT

Rundown:

We’ll round out the slate with Tony Gonsolin and the Dodgers heading into San Diego as they look to take a 2-1 lead as well. Gonsolin has been really good this season, especially in this matchup where he’s averaged 46.5 FanDuel points. That being said, this is his first real start since getting injured in the middle of August… he did throw 2 innings against the Rockies about two weeks ago, but only threw 40 pitches as a warm-up. He would be more of a tournament option than anything for me due to the risk that comes with his pitch count. Blake Snell will take the mound for the Padres in a tough matchup with this Dodgers lineup. He’s averaged 17.4 DraftKings points per start in three starts against them on the season and has an elite 32% strikeout rate on the season… he makes sense as a secondary option on this slate if you’re okay with some risk against this lineup.

LAD 5-star plays: Mookie Betts, Trea Turner

4-star plays: Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Max Muncy

GPP Note: It’s just so hard to ignore this Dodgers lineup.

SDP 5-star plays: Juan Soto, Manny Machado

4-star plays: Josh Bell, Jake Cronenworth, Trent Grisham

GPP Note: This could turn into a bullpen game for the Dodgers, I have no issue with some of these Padres bats.
