My Take on a Consistent MLB DFS Process – Looking at Pitchers

I always start an MLB slate by looking at pitching, not only do you get a grasp on who the pitchers are that you want to target, but gives you a holistic look at the slate as well. Breaking down pitching also gives you an idea of what offenses are in good spots against bad/vulnerable pitchers. I start my research by going straight to the  MLB Carnage Report this is where we can analyze all the pitchers on the slate in a compact, yet detailed manner. For the postseason, I have created a new sheet under our Cheat Sheets. I look into the Pitch Profile match-ups for each game, a definite MUST READ!

We have a BRAND NEW update to our MLB Domination Station lineup optimizer with advanced user-controlled scoring systems inside.  You control how the lineups are built from three main uses of our projections: Points-based, DFSA Grades, or the unique blend of Hybrid Scoring!  The Domination Station will help you create 150 of the highest projected lineups in a matter of minutes. With features that allow you to Like 😀 Love 😍 or Dislike 😡 a player, you can create a fully unique pool of players to generate your lineups from every day. Combine the power of the Domination Station with our VIP Only Articles and the MLB Research Station to really take your game to the next level.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Cleveland Guardians (-115)

Pitchers:

Rays – Tyler Glasnow

Guardians – Triston McKenzie

Rundown:

This game has opened with a total of 6. We get a ton of pitchers duels during the postseason. I like both in this one but can’t guarantee that Glasnow goes deep. He threw 64 pitches in his last start so 80 is probably the number. He racks up pitches so I would guess he probably goes 5. McKenzie has been great for CLE and while he is the favorite, I think one of the tops of the TB order takes him deep today.

TB 5-star plays: NONE

4-star plays: Wander Franco, Ji-Man Choi

GPP Note: Team ISO of .135 over the last week.

CLE 5-star plays: NONE

4-star plays: Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor

GPP Note: Team ISO of .112 over the last week.

Watching the weather is half the battle when it comes to MLB DFS. The DFS Army Weather Station has you covered, from games that have delay and postponement potential to games that could have significant winds that will play a role in selecting a team to stack or a pitcher to use.

Seattle Mariners @ Toronto Blue Jays (-160)

Pitchers:

Mariners – Robbie Ray

Jays – Kevin Gausman

Rundown:

This game has opened with a total of 7. When I looked at the initial pitch profile, I really noticed how important Gausman’s elite splitter will be. The Mariners do not hit the splitter well at all. I like the way TOR matches up with Ray but they didn’t look very good yesterday, in a spot that they should have been solid in. They do have the highest IRT on the slate.

SEA 5-star plays: NONE

4-star plays: Ty France, Adam Frazier

GPP Note: Team ISO of .167 over the last week.

TOR 5-star plays: Teoscar Hernandez

4-star plays: Matt Chapman, Bo Bichette

GPP Note: Team ISO of .178 over the last week.

San Diego Padres @ New York Mets (-190)

Pitchers:

Padres – Blake Snell

Mets – Jacob deGrom

Rundown:

This game has opened with a total of 6. It’s impossible not to love both pitchers in this one. We know how elite deGrom is AND has to be in this one. Snell can put up monster numbers as well. The Mets need their stars to step up so I look to Alonso to play with focus and energy, potentially going deep today.

SD 5-star plays: NONE

4-star plays: Manny Machado, Juan Soto

GPP Note: Team ISO of .130 over the last week.

NYM 5-star plays: NONE

4-star plays: Pete Alonso, Starling Marte

GPP Note: Team ISO of .182 over the last week.

Philadelphia Phillies (-120) @ St Louis Cardinals

Pitchers:

Phillies – Aaron Nola

Cardinals – Miles Mikolas

Rundown:

This game has opened with a total of 6.5. The Cards are in trouble in my eyes. They are similar to the Mets as they NEED Goldschmidt to be the MVP. Mikolas has been great at home and they need him to be his best. I think the Phillies get it done today, in a shocking “sweep” of the Cards. The Cardinals bullpen is ugly right now.

PHI 5-star plays: Bryce Harper

4-star plays: Nick Castellanos, Kyle Schwarber

GPP Note: Team ISO of .170 over the last week.

STL 5-star plays: Paul Goldschmidt

4-star plays: Nolan Arenado, Albert Pujols

GPP Note: Team ISO of .125 over the last week.

Stack of the Day

  1. Toronto Blue Jays
