Main MLB Slate Player Projections and Stacks:

Washington Nationals (+260) @ Philadelphia Phillies (-330)

Implied Run Totals:

Nationals – 3.3 IRT

Phillies – 6.0 IRT

Rundown:

We’ll open up the day with Cory Abbott starting for the Nats as they stick around in Philly. Abbott had a fine enough start last time out but in a matchup where the Phillies have an implied run total of 6.0, he’s not going to be a guy I have much interest in. Aaron Nola will get the nod for the Phillies in an elite matchup with the Nats and comes in as a massive -330 favorite, so the win equity is huge. He has at least 49 FanDuel points in two of his last three games.

WAS 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: None

GPP Note: I Love Nola in this spot.

PHI 5-star plays: Kyle Schwarber

4-star plays: Rhys Hoskins, Alec Bohm, Darick Hall, Nick Castellanos

GPP Note: I like the Phillies here, they’ll be a full-stack I have interest in and have the highest implied run total on the slate.

Pittsburgh Pirates (+145) @ Baltimore Orioles (-175)

Implied Run Totals:

Pirates – 4.0 IRT

Orioles – 5.2 IRT

Rundown:

The Pirates will send Bryse Wilson to the mound here in a solid enough matchup with the O’s. The only issue is Wilson isn’t very good. He’s been held under 10 DraftKings points in three straight games and this Orioles lineup has been very pesky as evident with their 5.2 implied run total. He won’t be a guy that makes my pitching pool on this slate. Baltimore will start Spenser Watkins and has been somewhat decent as of late with at least 19 DraftKings points in four of his last five. I think you can make case for him in a nice matchup with this Pirates lineup. He’d be a guy I’d only look to as an SP2 on DraftKings, so I don’t want to go with him as my lone option on FanDuel.

PIT 5-star plays: Bryan Reynolds

4-star plays: Oneil Cruz, Kevin Newman, Tucupita Mercado

GPP Note: I do think Watkins is in play as an SP2, but I do think some of these Pirates bats are in play.

BAL 5-star plays: Cedric Mullins, Adley Rutschman

4-star plays: Anthony Santander, Ryan Mountcastle, Jorge Mateo

GPP Note: The Orioles look solid here, I don’t like the ballpark but the hitting environment looks great.

Tampa Bay Rays (-188) @ Detroit Tigers (+155)

Implied Run Totals:

Rays – 4.7 IRT

Tigers – 3.5 IRT

Rundown:

The Rays will send Drew Rasmussen to the mound in a nice matchup with this Tigers team. He’s been a good real-life pitcher, but the DFS numbers haven’t been all that great. For example, he has a sub-3.00 ERA but still hasn’t scored over 20 DraftKings points in any of his past five games. I think you can make case for him as an SP2 on DraftKings due to the matchup, but he’s not a guy I want to get too wild on. Speaking of Detroit, they’ll send Matt Manning to the mound in a tougher matchup with the Rays. To put it simply, he’s not going to be a guy I like all that much in this one.

TBR 5-star plays: Brandon Lowe

4-star plays: Yandy Diaz, David Peralta, Randy Arozarena

GPP Note: It’s not my favorite spot to load up on the Rays, but the matchup is great with Manning.

DET 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Javier Baez, Riley Greene

GPP Note: More of a mini-stack team than anything against Rasmussen, and that might even be pushing it.

Watching the weather is half the battle when it comes to MLB DFS. The DFS Army Weather Station has you covered, from games that have delay and postponement potential, to games that could have significant winds that will play a roll in selecting a team to stack or a pitcher to use.

Boston Red Sox (-145) @ Kansas City Royals (+125)

Implied Run Totals:

Red Sox – 5.3 IRT

Royals – 4.4 IRT

Rundown:

Kutter Crawford will get the start for Boston in a really nice matchup with this Rays team that lost Whit Merrifield at the deadline. They do have some nice young hitters at the top of that lineup to go along with Salvador Perez, but the bottom of that lineup is hot garbage. Crawford had 22.7 DraftKings points last time out against Houston and has a 25% strikeout rate on the season… he’s in play as an SP2 as well. The Royals will start Brad Keller in this one and won’t be a guy I have interest in here, I’ll like going right back to this Boston team in 93-degree Kansas City.

BOS 5-star plays: Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts

4-star plays: Jarren Duran, Tommy Pham, JD Martinez, Eric Hosmer

GPP Note: I like the Red Sox in this one against Keller.

KCR 5-star plays: MJ Melendez

4-star plays: Bobby Witt Jr., Salvador Perez, Vincent Pasquantino

GPP Note: The Royals are more of a mini-stack team at the top of this lineup.

Toronto Blue Jays (-168) @ Minnesota Twins (+142)

Implied Run Totals:

Blue Jays – 4.6 IRT

Twins – 3.6 IRT

Rundown:

Kevin Gausman will get the start for the Jays in this one in a fine matchup with the Twins on the road. Gausman is coming off of an elite start last time out against the Rays where he went eight innings of 10 strikeout ball. I have no issue going right back to him on both DraftKings and FanDuel, he has a 28.4% strikeout rate on the season. The Twins will send Chris Archer to the mound in a rough matchup with the Jays. Archer just doesn’t do enough for DFS purposes to be viable in a tough matchup.

TOR 5-star plays: Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

4-star plays: Alejandro Kirk, Teoscar Hernandez, Bo Bichette, Matt Chapman

GPP Note: I have no issue going right back to the Jays in this one.

MIN 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa

GPP Note: Just one-offs against Gausman for me.

Cincinnati Reds (+240) @ Milwaukee Brewers (-295)

Implied Run Totals:

Reds – 2.8 IRT

Brewers – 4.9 IRT

Rundown:

Cincy will send Graham Ashcraft to the mound against a struggling Brewers team. Ashcraft has been good as of late and has back-to-back quality starts and is consistently throwing over 100 pitches. I do think he’s viable on both sites simply due to his price tag, but just know that his strikeout rate isn’t very large at 15.1%, so the upside may not be there. The Brewers will start Corbin Burnes in an elite matchup and is a huge -295 favorite. He has a 32.3% strikeout rate on the season and is right up there with Nola as a top option in all formats on this slate.

CIN 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: None

GPP Note: I don’t want to target guys against Burnes.

MIL 5-star plays: Christian Yelich

4-star plays: Rowdy Tellez, Willy Adames, Andrew McCutchen

GPP Note: I do think a Brewers stack is viable against Ashcraft here.

MLB DFS Winning Lineups $50,000

New York Yankees (-139) @ St. Louis Cardinals (+116)

Implied Run Totals:

Yankees – 4.4 IRT

Cardinals – 3.8 IRT

Rundown:

Frankie Montas will get the start for the Yankees here in his team debut after being traded from Oakland and hitting the bereavement list shortly after. He gets a tough draw against this Cardinals team in a hot-hitting environment. That said, he has a 25.8% strikeout rate on the season and is a guy I think you can make a case for on this slate. The Cardinals will send Adam Wainwright to the mound in a tough matchup with this Yankees team. I don’t think we need to get cute with him on this slate… even though he comes into this one in good form. He also gets a watered-down lineup with Rizzo likely out of the lineup, and yes I’m slowly talking myself onto him.

NYY 5-star plays: Aaron Judge

4-star plays: DJ LeMahieu, Matt Carpenter, Gleyber Torres

GPP Note: I’ll never have an issue with the Yankees stack but the bottom of this lineup is looking a little iffy.

STL 5-star plays: Paul Goldschmidt

4-star plays: Nolan Arenado, Nolan Gorman

GPP Note: The Cards are probably more of a mini-stack team for me.

Miami Marlins (+110) @ Chicago Cubs (-130)

Implied Run Totals:

Marlins – 4.4 IRT

Cubs – 4.8 IRT

Rundown:

The Marlins will send Jesus Luzardo to the mound after he returned from injury last time out against the Reds. He threw 81 pitches in that one so I would imagine he’s off of whatever pitch count he was on in that game. I do like the matchup with the Cubs and he has an elite 33.3% strikeout rate on the season, but I still think he’s more of a tournament option in this one. The Cubs will send Adrian Sampson to the mound in a nice matchup with this Marlins lineup. Sampson just hasn’t been good enough in DFS for me to have an interest in him on this slate.

MIA 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Joey Wendle, Jesus Aguilar, JJ Bleday

GPP Note: This lineup isn’t good enough to stack right now.

CHC 5-star plays: Willson Contreras

4-star plays: Patrick Wisdom

GPP Note: I think I’ll have more interest in Luzardo than anything outside of Contreras on this Cubs team.

Chicago White Sox (-155) @ Texas Rangers (+130)

Implied Run Totals:

White Sox – 4.8 IRT

Rangers – 3.9 IRT

Rundown:

This game isn’t on the DraftKings main slate but FanDuel has it to close out the Sunday main. Chicago will send Lucas Giolito to the mound in a solid matchup on the road in Texas. He bounced back good enough last time out against the Royals and is a guy I think we can make work here for tournaments at the very least. He has a 26.1% strikeout rate on the season giving him some nice upside. The Rangers will start Spencer Howard and probably isn’t a guy I’ll look to get here in a tougher matchup with this White Sox lineup that has a bunch of firepower.

CHW 5-star plays: Luis Robert, Jose Abreu

4-star plays: Tim Anderson, Andrew Vaughn

GPP Note: I could talk myself into a White Sox stack here.

TEX 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Nate Lowe, Adolis Garcia

GPP Note: If you think Giolito struggles again here this stack makes sense.
