WNBA Strategy Picks for Today

Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner (42) dunks against the Atlanta Dream during the second quarter at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix on July 12, 2017.

Minnesota Lynx @ Washington Mystics

For the Lynx, their offense starts and stop with Sylvia Fowles, as they’re coming off a solid win against the Dream as well. Napheesa Collier has been their #2 option on offense, but she is priced right up there with Fowles, and for the price tag I’m playing Fowles. For guards, your main option is going to be Kayla McBride, as she should see the most minutes there, but she’s priced right around value given her fantasy production. Dangerfield’s minutes have come up though so she is in play coming off the bench, while Layshia Clarendon started last game and had some decent production. Bridget Carleton also started and played 33 minutes last game, I love her price on FanDuel as she is one of the best values on the slate.

The Mystics are coming off of a tough loss to a very good Vegas team, but the big news here is that Myisha Hines-Allen is back which gives the Mystics a huge boost. She’s likely going to be core for me here today at her price on both sites. Tina Charles is also a great play here as well, but she’s definitely not as elite as Hines-Allen. For guards, the big news will come down to Ariel Atkins as she is a GTD right now, if she were to miss then Natasha Cloud, Shavonte Zellous, and Leilani Mitchell would all benefit, I particularly like Zellous as she is near minimum on both sites.

5-Star Play: Myisah Hines-Allen, Sylvia Fowles

4-Star Play: Napheesa Collier, Natasha Cloud, Leilani Mitchell, Layshia Clarendon

GPP Sleeper: Shavonte Zellous, Bridget Carleton

Deep Value: Shavonte Zellous, Bridget Carleton, Layshia Clarendon

Dallas Wings vs. Phoenix Mercury

Dallas has had a bit of a rough start to the season, but the bright spot has been the emergence of Marina Mabrey and Arike Ogunbowale, they have been carrying this Dallas team offensively and are both great plays again here tonight. They have also gotten Satou Sabally and Allisha Gray back, both are moderately priced, while Gray being back in the starting lineup will hurt Mabrey as she was relegated to the bench last game. Kayla Thornton is a GTD here tonight, and if she were to miss then it would make Isabelle Harrison one of the elite value plays on the slate and would be a boost for Charli Collier as well. Collier has been a great FPPM producer so far this year but hasn’t seen more than 18 minutes in a game even in that starting role, she really needs Thornton to be out to be viable here though.

Now for the Mercury, Diana Taurasi is going to miss this game again here tonight, which boosts all of the Mercury starters into elite territory as they have a very tight rotation and their starters play huge minutes. My two favorite being Skylar Diggins-Smith and Brittney Griner. Kia Nurse is also priced very nicely on both sites and she played over 40 minutes last game. Brianna Turner also has elite upside at her price if Diggins and Griner struggle in this game. Megan Walker also played 30+ minutes in their last game but she isn’t a high FPPM producer, but if you need value to fill your lineups out she is a fine play as well.

5-Star Play: Skylar Diggins-Smith, Brittney Griner, Arike Ogunbowale

4-Star Play: Marina Mabrey, Satou Sabally, Allisha Gray, Kia Nurse, Brianna Turner

GPP Sleeper: Megan Walker, Isabelle Harrison

Deep Value: Isabelle Harrison, Charli Collier (if Thornton out), Allisha Gray
