Main Slate Breakdown for NBA DFS 5/24:

May 22, 2021; Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA; Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (34) shoots against Miami Heat guard Jimmy Butler (22) and forward Duncan Robinson (55) during the third quarter of game one in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs at Fiserv Forum. Welcome to another year of the DFS Army NBA Full Court Press! Members had a ton of success using the Full Court Press along with various articles and tools that DFS Army provides last season, so we are glad to be back with another year of the all-inclusive article. You have to start your research somewhere, and oftentimes going game by game and breaking down every matchup and its key players is the first step in our process. My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the advice in the article. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

I want to give a quick shoutout to VIP Member “Texan9204” on their $100,000 win toward the end of the regular season!! Heading into the playoffs strong!

Miami Heat @ Milwaukee Bucks

Vegas Total: 222.5

Vegas Spread: Mil -4.5

We’ll kick this playoff Monday slate off with the Heat who come into this one down 1-0 in the series. Jimmy Butler helped carry the Heat on Saturday as he played 46 minutes on his way to 47 DraftKings points. He’s going to play massive minutes again here and at under $9k on DraftKings and being SF eligible on FanDuel at just over $9k, he’s an awesome option. Bam Adebayo struggled in game 1, but he was able to salvage his fantasy day a bit, so he didn’t fully kill your lineups. My one issue with him is the interior defense for the Bucks is really good, and generally, the reason they give up so many three’s because Brook Lopez is dropping down into the paint and taking away those easy buckets. Goran Dragic and Duncan Robinson kept the Heat in the game in game 1, Robinson shot 7-13 from three-point range, so if people are going to chase that production I like zagging a bit to other pieces. I had Dragic as a core play on our Coaches Notes/Cheat Sheets on Saturday and probably a guy I’ll go right back to here. Dragic will likely end up closing again over Herro who only saw 19 minutes. Lastly, I think Trevor Ariza makes a lot of sense whereas Kendrick Nunn is more of a GPP guy right there with Tyler Herro. From the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo is the highest-priced player on both sites and looked pretty good in game 1. The thing we didn’t see from him in the playoffs last season was the minutes he’s going to get this postseason, he had 45 minutes in game 1 and that was with a slight arm injury and a little bit of foul trouble. He’s an elite raw option as always and has multi-position eligibility on DraftKings. Khris Middleton generally shows up in the playoffs, I don’t know what it is with him, but he thrives when the games are at their biggest. I like the price slightly better on FanDuel, but you don’t get the three-point bonus on FanDuel as you do on DraftKings, regardless, he’s a nice option. Jrue Holiday had an efficient game as well and feels like a guy that is going to have really quiet 40 point fantasy outings, I have no issue going right back to him here. Donte DiVincenzo struggled from the field but was able to salvage his day by grabbing 10 boards and some additional peripherals as well. He’s going to play big minutes with the rest of the starters and makes sense at his price tag. Brook Lopez was impressive on Saturday, I had thought we might see PJ Tucker more down the stretch, and maybe we will against a different opponent, but Lopez did a really nice job on Adebayo down low and looked good on the offensive end as well. He’s a great salary-saving center option. Then we can round this game out with Bobby Portis as a GPP option.

5-star play: Jimmy Butler, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez, Goran Dragic

4-star play: Duncan Robinson, Bam Adebayo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday

Deeper Value: Bryn Forbes, Andre Iguodala

GPP Sleeper: Tyler Herro, Kendrick Nunn, Bobby Portis, Donte DiVincenzo

Portland Trailblazers @ Denver Nuggets

Vegas Total: 227.0

Vegas Spread: Den -1.5

Starting with the Blazers, Damian Lillard had a big game 1 going for 50+ fantasy points yet again, we know he’s going to play a ton of minutes and shoot a ton as well, I like the price tag much more on DraftKings, but a guy I’ll go right back to on both sites. CJ McCollum isn’t a sexy option but has been really consistent and SG is extremely ugly especially on FanDuel. Jusuf Nurkic was a guy I was really high on in game 1. I love targeting him when he should be getting more minutes, which he will in this series. He gives them their best chance at attempting to slow Jokic on the defensive end which means he’s going to naturally rack up stats. I like him again here, more so on DraftKings due to the price differential, however. Outside of those three, there isn’t a whole lot that I’m falling in love with, but guys like Robert Covington, Carmelo Anthony, and Norman Powell are all GPP guys for me. From the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic is right there with Giannis as the top spend-up option on the slate, what’s not to like with him? I normally don’t love attacking Nurkic down low, but Jokic does so much for this team that he’ll be hard for me to avoid in this spot. I like Michael Porter Jr. as well, he’s now the second option on this team with all their injuries. He shot 1-10 from three-point range in game 1 and was still able to put up 39.75 DraftKings points, love going right back to him here. Facundo Campazzo is going to run most of the point responsibilities as well and play big minutes, he’s not the sexiest of options, but if you need someone in this range, he’s a solid option. I do like going right back to Aaron Gordon though, he’s going to play big minutes and taking on additional responsibilities with Barton and Murray out. He’s probably more of a tournament option but a guy I do like taking a chance on. Then you can round this team out with value options in Austin Rivers, Paul Millsap, and JaMychal Green. Rivers will see the most minutes of the three, but all are solid looks for GPPs.

5-star play: Nikola Jokic, Damian Lillard, Michael Porter Jr.

4-star play: CJ McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic, Facundo Campazzo, Aaron Gordon

Deeper Value: Austin Rivers, Paul Millsap, JaMychal Green

GPP Sleeper: Robert Covington, Carmelo Anthony, Norman Powell

NBA Lock of the Day: Jimmy Butler (DK – $8.5k; FD – $9.1k)

I’ll go right back to Butler here in game 2. He shot 4-22 from the field in that game and still managed 47 DraftKings points and is SF eligible on both sites. If he makes even 30% of his shots he’s looking at nearly a 60 point fantasy day at around $9k. I love him in this spot as the Heat look to avoid going down 0-2 in this series. Butler will likely make my Core 4 in today’s Coaches Notes/Cheat Sheets, go check them out! Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 5x tonight I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
