Atlanta Motor Speedway
Both the Xfinity and Truck Series races will be ran on the same day this week. Atlanta Motor Speedway is a 1.5 mile high banked quad-oval with one of the best racing surfaces in all of auto racing. Due to the age of the racing surface we a significant amount of tire wear that leads to great racing throughout a green flag run. We will see lap times fall off between three & five seconds throughout a green flag run making long-run speed incredibly important. The smoothest drivers who can take care of their tires the best will have a real advantage. Overall there are very few cautions in any race here at Atlanta as drivers are more concerned with racing the track than other drivers. This means low DNF rates and makes it easier for a single dominator.

Xfinity Series Preview
Atlanta Xfinity races are usually a one dominator show. This week we may end up with a two dominator race though based on the simple fact Martin Truex starts 18th and can’t lead right away. I will utilize a domination station setting of at most 2 dominators for this race. As I just mentioned, Martin Truex Jr. will enter into this race driving the #54 for JGR. This will be his first xfinity race since 2010. I would expect he will use the first half of the race to learn the car and I look for him to be a contender late. Talent/experience wise and equipment wise he should be considered the favorite to win. We have a ton of place differential plats for this race that will all offer massive upside. The reason the offer so much upside though is because they have continued to make mistakes or have issues in 2021. Seig, Labbe, Gragson, Berry, and Annett are allgoing to over place differential upsides of +15 points. Some of them will offer upsides with over +20. These are the most important drivers of the slate. Hitting on the 2-3 drivers out of this group that score the most I believe will determine who will takedown tournaments.

Sieg starts 35th and I believe he will contend for a top 10 finishing position. He finished 11th here in 2019 but unfortunately had an engine issue here last year. His team has gotten off to a horrible start and I think this is the race they break free of the bad luck. Also, the price is too damn good.

Truck Series Preview
Last time out I wasn’t convinced Kyle Busch was the right play at Vegas. I knew he would contend for the win but I didn’t know if he could dominate enough to pay off his price. This week at Atlanta I am a lot more bullish on KB. I think his experience and talent shine at this track and that he will likely dominate this entire race. The only driver I believe stands a chance of competing against him is John Hunter Nemechek. From there it will be about finding a way to fit in the best of the place differential plays. We start with Ross Chastain starting 40th and then have about 5-6 drivers starting deep in the field that should contend for top 15 finishes. I look forward to lineup building for this race.

These two are basically the same play. They start very deep in the field, cost the same, and they offer roughly the same upside. I think both contend for that 18th-22nd place range and are the best ultra value plays. You will need these type of plays due to the high price of Kyle Busch
