Chicago Bulls @ Houston Rockets

Vegas Total: NA

Vegas Spread: Hou -1.0

We’ll kick this Monday slate off with the Chicago Bulls, Zach LaVine continues to play well and now has at least 53 DraftKings points in two of his last three games. He scored 54 fantasy points on the Rockets earlier this season. We sort of know what we’re going to get out of Coby White, he’s been pretty volatile this season, so more of a tournament option than anything else. Wendell Carter Jr. saw 33 minutes last time out which is a high since returning from injury. I actually like him quite a bit here, the Rockets frontcourt is in shambles right now and he should be able to take advantage. Lastly, the combo of Thad Young and Patrick Williams are more GPP options than cash due to the minutes that Young will see and the volatility on Williams. From the Rockets, I touched on this frontcourt briefly, but we don’t really know what’s going on with DeMarcus Cousins. They came out on Saturday and said they’re expecting to part ways, but then we find out yesterday that he’s expected to play and is currently listed as questionable. Keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed surrounding him to get a better idea of what we can expect from him and the Rockets here. It sounds like Victor Oladipo is closer to doubtful than questionable with his foot injury, so we can go right back to John Wall and Eric Gordon in this one. If Cousins is truly out, there is going to be a ton of usage to go around for the rest of this squad, so it’s tough not to like them in a pace-up spot against a bad defense. These ancillary pieces will likely come into play as well depending on the Cousins news (I personally expect him to sit), so we may see PJ Tucker slide over to the five and get more minutes out of guys like Jae’sean Tate, Danuel House, and David Nwaba.

5-star play: Zach LaVing, John Wall

4-star play: Coby White, Wendell Carter Jr., Eric Gordon

Deeper Value: P.J. Tucker

GPP Sleeper: Coby White, Thad Young, Patrick Williams, Danuel House, Jae’sean Tate

Memphis Grizzlies @ Dallas Mavericks

Vegas Total: NA

Vegas Spread: Dal -5.0

Starting with the Grizzlies, they were pretty shorthanded on Saturday but looks like we can expect them to be pretty close to full strength minutes Jaren Jackson and Dillon Brooks in this one. Ja Morant disappointed last game, but they got blown out pretty quick in that game, so I have no issue going back to him against a really bad defense. The same can be said for Jonas Valanciunas who should be able to take advantage of this poor Mavericks frontcourt. Kyle Anderson is a fine option, but never a sexy play, I think I would rather save the money and go down to Brandon Clarke as long as he’s in that starting lineup again. Lastly, it’ll be interesting to see if the Grizzlies stick with Grayson Allen as the starting shooting guard or go back to De’Anthony Melton now that he’s back from injury. Whichever one of them starts makes for a decent secondary option. From the Mavericks, we kind of know the story here, it’s Luka Doncic and it’s Kristaps Porzingins. Luka has at least 60 DraftKings points in three straight games and makes for one of the better raw options on the slate. Kristaps is more of a GPP option due to the volatility that goes along with him, but if he can get hot from the scoring end he does have 60 point fantasy potential. Then the rest of this team is deeper GPP options, although I do like the price tag on Tim Hardaway Jr. if we get strapped for value on tonight’s slate.

5-star play: Luka Doncic

4-star play: Ja Morant, Jonas Valanciunas, Kristaps Porzingis

Deeper Value: Tim Hardaway Jr.

GPP Sleeper: Kyle Anderson, Brandon Clarke, De’Anthony Melton, Grayson Allen, Josh Richardson, Tim Hardaway Jr.

Miami Heat @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Vegas Total: NA

Vegas Spread: NA

Starting with the Heat, Tyler Herro comes into this one as questionable, so that’s some news we’ll have to keep an eye out for. Jimmy Butler continues to look good and put up 43 DraftKings points last time out in a tough matchup with the Lakers. This one is a better matchup for him and would expect that production to come up a bit, he’s been really good since returning from Covid. Bam Adebayo has been really consistent as of late and has at least 43 DraftKings points in four straight games, he should have no problem doing what he wants against this Thunder frontcourt. Kendrick Nunn had a big game last time out in 40 minutes against the Lakers, he’s a tournament guy you can get to hear and would see a nice boost if Tyler Herro is ruled out in this one. Then guys like Kelly Olynyk and Duncan Robinson are always in play for tournaments for me due to their ability to get a bucket. From the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made my core in the cheat sheets yesterday, and went out and put up 51.5 DraftKings points. This is a tougher matchup for him, so I don’t think he’s as good of a play as yesterday, but we know the upside he brings to the floor. Al Horford is a fine option, but his production has been down as of late, I don’t know that he’s a guy I’ll necessarily get much of on this slate. With this team starting to get healthy again, I don’t want to pay this price tag for guys like Hamidou Diallo, Kenrich Williams, and Isaiah Roby, so they’re mostly fades for me. Really just SGA and Horford with a sprinkle of Darius Bazley in this one.

5-star play: Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo

4-star play: Kendrick Nunn, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Al Horford

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Duncan Robinson, Kelly Olynyk, Darius Bazley

Portland Trailblazers @ Phoenix Suns

Vegas Total: 230

Vegas Spread: Pho -6.5

Starting with the Blazers, Damian Lillard continued his hot streak on Saturday going for 66 DraftKings points against the Wizards which has pushed his price tag to near $11k on DraftKings. I don’t love this matchup for him but with CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic off the court he’s going to continue to see all the usage in this offense. Enes Kanter looked good last time out as well, he’s going to have some secured minutes here, as the Blazers don’t really have a true backup for him and the matchup with Ayton doesn’t scare me one bit. Robert Covington is another guy that’s getting a ton of run and is getting those backup center minutes, I like him here as well he’s been really consistent as of late. Gary Trent and Derrick Jones Jr. make sense as tournament options to round out this team, Jones Jr. has back-to-back 30 point fantasy games. From the Suns, Devin Booker has been held under 40 DraftKings points in three straight games but this is a nice pace-up spot for the Suns so I don’t have an issue chasing the ceiling on him in this one. Chris Paul had a dud of a game last time out, but they blew the doors off the Grizzlies which caused him to see just 22 minutes, I’ll go right back to the well on him here. DeAndre Ayton has been pretty unimpressive this season but has a nice matchup here, Kanter isn’t going to do anything to stop you on defense. Lastly, these wings like Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder are fine filler pieces to round out the back-end of your roster but not anyone you should make as a priority.

5-star play: Damian Lillard

4-star play: Enes Kanter, Robert Covington, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, DeAndre Ayton

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Gary Trent Jr., Derrick Jones Jr., Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, Devin Booker

Charlotte Hornets @ Utah Jazz

Vegas Total: 228

Vegas Spread: Utah -12.0

Starting with the Hornets, this is an incredibly tough matchup for them against one of the best defenses in the league. That being said, LaMelo Ball dropped 59 DraftKings points on them earlier this season, so he’s starting to show himself as being a matchup-proof DFS option. Devonte’ Graham is listed as doubtful here so we can go right back to the well on Terry Rozier who is crushing right now, he has three straight 50 point fantasy outings, but the price tag reflects that as well. I don’t mind getting to Gordon Hayward here either at this price tag, it’s a revenge game for him going back into Utah, and has been pretty solid on the season. Lastly, PJ Washington and Cody Zeller are going to have a tough time in the paint against Rudy Gobert and company so they’re deep tournament options at best for me. From Utah, Donovan Mitchell has at least 50 DraftKings points in two straight games and should be able to do what he wants here, the only issue with him is he’s always priced right where he should be. I do like the spot for Rudy Gobert, however, the Hornets are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league so we could be looking down the barrel at another 20 rebound performance out of him here. Mike Conley returned last game to see 25 minutes, I would expect that to climb to around 30 in this one which puts him firmly in play for me and he’s pretty underpriced if that’s the case, he’s a strong option in this one. Then we get to these wings and ancillary pieces who are tournament options just because we’ll never be able to guess which one is going to have the big night on a daily basis. Bojan Bogdanovic, Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles, and Royce O’Neale all have the ability to get hot and up 40-50 fantasy points but predicting who it will be with this team at full strength is a crapshoot.

5-star play: Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley

4-star play: LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward, Donovan Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic, Jordan Clarkson

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: PJ Washington, Cody Zeller, Bojan Bogdanovic, Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles, Royce O’Neale

Washington Wizards @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 226

Vegas Spread: Lal -6.5

Starting with the Wizards, it looks like Russell Westbrook may finally be starting to get healthy. He’s played at least 37 minutes in two straight and has at least 52 DraftKings points in three straight. I have no issue going to him here, although the Lakers are still playing good defense even without Anthony Davis on the court. Bradley Beal is under $10k on DraftKings and has at least 52 DraftKings points in three of his last four, he’s the more consistent option if you’re between him and Westbrook, but they’re both in play here. Rui Hachimura has looked good lately, going for at least 30 DraftKings points in two of three, he’s a fine secondary option here. Then this frontcourt will be tournament-only options as we don’t know how Davis Bertans is going to shoot or which one of Robin Lopez, Mo Wagner, and Alex Len will have a good performance. Those three are going to have a tough matchup against this Lakers frontcourt. From the Lakers, it’s hard not to like LeBron James here, the Wizards are the fastest team in the league when Westbrook is in there so he should see a few extra possessions in this one and is priced pretty fair on DraftKings. Kyle Kuzma has at least 30 DraftKings points in 7 of his last 8 games and makes sense again here against a weak Wizards frontcourt. Montrezl Harrell would be your GPP pivot from him for about $1000 cheaper. He’s been pretty solid with Davis off the court, volatile though.

5-star play: Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal, LeBron James

4-star play: Rui Hachimura, Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell

Deeper Value: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

GPP Sleeper: Davis Bertans, Montrezl Harrell, Ketavious Caldwell-Pope

NBA Lock of the Day: Wendell Carter Jr. (DK – $5.3k; FD – $5.4k)

I mentioned this with the Bulls breakdown, but Carter Jr. got his minutes up to over 30 last time out, so we can expect that going forward now that it seems he’s off whatever minutes restriction he was on. He’s going to have a pretty nice matchup here regardless if Cousins plays. Cousins isn’t playing much of any defense right now and I personally don’t think he plays here as the Rockets are looking to move on from him. That said, Carter Jr. will get a matchup with a bunch of undersized stretch four’s in the paint here, he should be able to body his way to a nice game at a nice price tag. The Research Station below has him projected for 29.61 DraftKings points which would put him over 5.5x his price tag.
