Welcome to another year of the DFS Army NBA Full Court Press! Members had a ton of success using the Full Court Press along with various articles and tools that DFS Army provides last season, so we are glad to be back with another year of the all-inclusive article. You have to start your research somewhere, and oftentimes going game by game and breaking down every matchup and its key players is the first step in our process. My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the advice in the article. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

I want to give a quick shoutout to VIP Member “Irzarl29” on a $40k win recently, congrats!!

Early Slate:

Boston Celtics @ New Orleans Pelicans

Vegas Total: 231

Vegas Spread: Bos -2.5

We’ll kick the day off with an island game that starts at 3:30 ET, so if you want to play this one you’ll have to play showdown, but I’ll run down some pieces I like for it quick! Starting with Boston, Jayson Tatum has back-to-back 50 point fantasy nights and should be able to keep it going here, he’s the most expensive player on the slate, but for good reason. Jaylen Brown has been pretty consistently held under 40 DraftKings points, but he’s priced as if he’s consistently hitting that mark. He does have a pretty nice floor and we know the ceiling is there, but he just hasn’t been getting there for whatever reason. That said, on a showdown slate, I have no issue with getting to him. Kemba Walker had his best game of the season last time out going for 52.25 DraftKings points against the Hawks. He shot 5-8 from three so that shouldn’t continue but he was able to rack up a bunch of peripherals as well. Daniel Theis returned last game to play 33 minutes on his way to 37 DraftKings points, he’s the only piece of the frontcourt I would have much interest in here. From the Pelicans, Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson are both solid options here. If you’re looking for an upside guy for tournaments you’re guy is Ingram while Zion is more of your cash guy although he did recently just come off back to back 50 burgers before his 32 point outing last time out. Lonzo Ball was the one who had the big game in that Phoenix game, he had 54.75 DraftKings points, and this Celtics team is missing a pretty big defensive piece with Marcus Smart out, so you can go back to him. The big news you’ll have to keep an eye on here is the availability of Steven Adams, if he’s out Guillermo Hernangomez would make for a pretty nice value option. He has scored at least 27 DraftKings points in three straight games. Lastly, Eric Bledsoe and Josh Hart are fine GPP fillers, they’re both pretty volatile options.

5-star play: Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson

4-star play: Brandon Ingram, Jaylen Brown, Lonzo Ball, Guillermo Hernangomez (If Starting)

Deeper Value: Robert Williams, Kira Lewis Jr.

GPP Sleeper: Kemba Walker, Daniel Theis, Eric Bledsoe, Josh Hart

Main Slate:

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Vegas Total: 218

Vegas Spread: Okc -2.5

Starting with the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander struggled from the field last time out but was still able to get near 30 DraftKings points. I have no issue going back to him here in a matchup with smaller guards that he should be able to take advantage of. Al Horford is a fine option, but his production has been down as of late, I don’t know that he’s a guy I’ll necessarily get much of on this slate. With this team starting to get healthy again, I don’t want to pay this price tag for guys like Hamidou Diallo, Kenrich Williams, and Isaiah Roby, so they’re mostly fades for me. Really just SGA and Horford with a sprinkle of Darius Bazley in this one. From the Cavaliers, Jarrett Allen continues to produce nicely as the starting center for this team. It’s a pretty nice matchup as well, one that he scored 31 DraftKings points in earlier this season. Collin Sexton is playing massive minutes right now, I don’t love the matchup but the price tag is something that I have an interest in. The same can be said for Darius Garland, he feels way too cheap here for the minutes he’ll see in this one. Lastly, Taurean Prince is out again here so we should see Cedi Osman play all the minutes he can handle. He’s scored 32 and 38 DraftKings points in the past two games due to getting the start for Prince, but his price has skyrocketed, I’m still okay with getting to him as a secondary option.

5-star play: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

4-star play: Al Horford, Jarrett Allen, Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Cedi Osman

Deeper Value: JaVale McGee

GPP Sleeper: Darius Bazley, Lu Dort, Cedi Osman, JaVale McGee

Minnesota Timberwolves @ New York Knicks

Vegas Total: 216.5

Vegas Spread: Nyk -3.0

Starting with the Wolves, Karl-Anthony Towns has looked pretty good since returning from the Covid list, we haven’t seen that huge 60 point game out of him yet, but I’m still okay with getting to him at this price tag. D’Angelo Russell will be out again here so it will be the Malik Beasley and Ricky Rubio show in the frontcourt. Anthony Edwards has come crashing down to Earth after a 50 burger a few games ago. He’s a rookie so the volatility is to be expected. Lastly, Jarred Vanderbilt is a guy I’ve been getting to for value, but his minutes are trending in the wrong direction, so I don’t think he’s playable even though he’s getting the starts most nights. This really isn’t a team I see myself getting much of. From the Knicks, this is a spot that I really like Julius Randle. The Timberwolves are the worst team in the league against opposing big men, we’ve seen guys like Randle put up huge games against them this season. I’m hoping the price bump on Randle keeps people off him because I love this spot. The rest of this team is pretty unappealing for me, Nerlens Noel will continue to start but he’s not doing anything all that noteworthy with his minutes. RJ Barrett isn’t a guy I generally get to all that much, especially now with Derrick Rose in the picture. He’s more of a GPP guy along with the rest of this backcourt with guys like Elfrid Payton, Derrick Rose, and Immanuel Quickley.

5-star play: Julius Randle

4-star play: Karl-Anthony Towns, Malik Beasley

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Ricky Rubio, Anthony Edwards, RJ Barrett, Elfrid Payton, Derrick Rose, Immanuel Quickley

Detroit Pistons @ Orlando Magic

Vegas Total: 210

Vegas Spread: Orl -2.5

Starting with the Pistons, the big news here is that Delon Wright is out for the Pistons which opens up a good chunk of minutes in that backcourt. It’ll be interesting who starts for the Pistons at point guard, but I’m half expecting it to be Dennis Smith Jr. who has always been a nice point-per-minute guy in his career and is just $4k on DraftKings. He’s a guy I like quite a bit here even if he doesn’t start due to the minutes that will be here, he played 23 last game on his way to 23 DraftKings points even while shooting 0-7 from the field. Jerami Grant has lost some of his consistency that we saw earlier this season but he’s still playing massive minutes, he’s a fine option here. Mason Plumlee continues to crush for the Pistons and is finally getting good run for them, he’s a nice option again here. Lastly, Saddiq Bey and Josh Jackson are fine tournament plays but not anything I’m prioritizing in a game with a 210 total. From the Magic, Nikola Vucevic continues to crush and is coming off a 74.5 point fantasy night last time out. He has a 30.6% usage rate and 1.5 fantasy points per minute with Cole Anthony and Aaron Gordon off the court this season, that’s a huge usage rate for a big man. Terrence Ross is shooting early and often while this team is shorthanded, I never really love playing Ross due to how scoring dependent he is unless he’s underpriced, but that’s not the case here. The only other guy I would have interest in on this team would be Michael Carter-Williams who should continue to see heavy minutes with Anthony out and Frank Mason out of the picture. Lastly, Evan Fournier is a solid option as well, he scored 47.5 DraftKings points last night but is just never a guy I can get right.

5-star play: Dennis Smith Jr., Nikola Vucevic

4-star play: Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee, Evan Fournier, Michael Carter-Williams

Deeper Value: Dennis Smith Jr., Wayne Ellington

GPP Sleeper: Saddiq Bey, Josh Jackson, Terrence Ross

Philadelphia 76ers @ Toronto Raptors

Vegas Total: 223

Vegas Spread: Phi -3.0

Starting with the Sixers, Ben Simmons is probable here, but that was the case last time out as well and he ended up missing. I would assume he plays, but we know how weird Sunday DFS can get. I was all over Joel Embiid last time out against the Bulls with Simmons out and he went for 91 DraftKings points. His price is up near $11k, and with Simmons back I don’t think I’ll chase those points, but it’s pretty clear his mindset has changed this season and he’s putting in more effort than we’ve seen in the past. Tobias Harris is also priced up at nearly $9k, I won’t be paying that price tag for him. Let other people chase those last three games, all of which were without one of Simmons or Embiid. Seth Curry is a volatile option and priced a little higher than I’m really comfortable with. From the Raptors, Kyle Lowry is doubtful so we can go ahead and take him off the court. Here is how the rest of the team has been with him off the court this season:

  • Fred VanVleet – 27.4% usage rate; 1.19 fpm
  • Norman Powell – 23.7% usage rate; 1.02 fpm
  • Pascal Siakam – 23.7% usage rate; 1.12 fpm
  • Chris Boucher – 21.3% usage rate; 1.27 fpm

These would be the four guys I would have interest in here. It’s worth noting that Boucher slid into the starting five last game but still only had 22 minutes, he won’t be able to hang with Joel Embiid here, so I don’t have much interest even at $5.9k.

5-star play: Joel Embiid, Fred VanVleet

4-star play: Norman Powell, Pascal Siakam

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, OG Anunoby

Denver Nuggets @ Atlanta Hawks

Vegas Total: 232.0

Vegas Spread: Den -3.0

Starting with the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic has at least 59 DraftKings points in four straight games and gets an elite matchup here, he’s one of the better spend-up options on the slate. Jamal Murray now has back-to-back 60 point fantasy nights, I have no issue riding the hot streak in a great matchup, but his price has come up a ton, so more of a tournament guy. Michael Porter Jr. finally looked good last game going for 32.75 DraftKings points, his minutes should continue to be secure here with Paul Millsap, JaMychal Green, and Gary Harris all out for the Nuggets. Lastly, Will Barton should see pretty big minutes as well with those guys out, but he’s a bit too volatile for me, you can make a case for him as a secondary tournament option if you want more pieces of this game. From the Hawks, Trae Young is back to getting his 50 burgers on a regular basis, but this is a pretty tough matchup for him. He’s not a priority, but his ceiling will always keep him in play for GPPs. Clint Capela has looked great as of late and they’ll need his size in this one to battle with Jokic down low, that said I don’t love the price tag, so more of a tournament option on him as well. We kind of know what John Collins is at this point, he’s going to be a volatile piece but has a nice ceiling for GPPs, but too unpredictable for cash games. I’m not sure why I don’t get to Kevin Huerter all that much, I just have a hard time stomaching this price tag on DraftKings, he’s been really volatile as of late so more of a tournament guy than anything if you’re wanting to get here. Danilo Gallinari just hasn’t impressed me this season and doesn’t really pass the eye test, but he’s a guy I’m willing to go to at this price tag while De’Andre Hunter is still out. Then Cam Reddish is more of a GPP option if you’re looking to get more pieces on this team.

5-star play: Nikola Jokic, Trae Young

4-star play: Jamal Murray, Clint Capela, John Collins

Deeper Value: Danilo Gallinari

GPP Sleeper: Will Barton, John Collins, Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter

Brooklyn Nets @ Los Angeles Clippers

Vegas Total: 236

Vegas Spread: Lac -6.5

Starting with the Nets, Kevin Durant will remain out for this one, so the main targets on this team will be James Harden and Kyrie Irving. Harden has at least 60 DraftKings points in three of his last four games while Kyrie has at least 50 in two of four. They’re both nice options here and I have no issue with getting to either of them. Neither are really priorities, but solid options nonetheless. The rest of this team is just tournament options with my favorite being Joe Harris, but guys like DeAndre Jordan and Jeff Green just don’t feel like a must for me here. From the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George returned last game. George played 27 minutes while Leonard was supposedly under a minutes restriction but ended up playing 38 minutes. I would prefer Leonard here due to George being out for so long, but you can make a case for him GPPs, this is a game they should get up for. With Leonard and George back I’ll wait for the price tags on the rest of these guys to come down, I’m not paying $6.4k for Lou Williams with all that usage back on the court. I do like the price tag on Serge Ibaka however, and we’ve seen this Nets team give up big games to opposing big men.

5-star play: James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard

4-star play: Joe Harris, Paul George, Serge Ibaka

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Joe Harris, DeAndre Jordan, Jeff Green, Serge Ibaka, Marcus Morris

Sacramento Kings @ Milwaukee Bucks

Vegas Total: 238.5

Vegas Spread: Mil -10.0

We end the slate with an implied total of 238.5, the highest on the slate. Starting with the Kings, I like the price tag on De’Aaron Fox, in a fast-paced game I like his chances of producing here. The Bucks have struggled on defense with Jrue Holiday out, so he should see a nice boost here. Buddy Hield continues to show why he’s a tournament-only option, his game logs over his past four are 16.5, 33.75, 13, and 35.5. Tyrese Haliburton continues to look great coming off a 31.75 point fantasy outing last time out, his price has come up a big, but still a guy I like for all formats. We will need news on Harrison Barnes and Richaun Holmes before we can breakdown the rest of this team, so keep an eye on that Breaking News Feed for updates. From the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing massive minutes right now and has at least 70 DraftKings points in 4 of his last 6 games. The Kings don’t play any sort of defense so he should be able to do what he wants in this one. Khris Middleton bounced back nicely last game going for 37.5 DraftKings points and gets another great matchup here, I have no issue getting to him in this spot either. Donte DiVincenzo has picked up the slack a bit with Jrue out, I like him again with Jrue continued to be listed as out. Then guys like Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, and DJ Augustin are all GPP options to round out the team. I will touch on Augustin quickly, he drew the start for Bryn Forbes while they fill the Holiday gap last game and played 32 minutes. If he’s going to see that type of run I like him as a value option.

5-star play: De’Aaron Fox, Giannis Antetkounmpo

4-star play: Tyrese Haliburton, Khris Middleton

Deeper Value: DJ Augustin

GPP Sleeper: Buddy Hield, Donte DiVincenzo, Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis

NBA Lock of the Day: Dennis Smith Jr. (DK – $4.0k; FD – $4.6k)

I mentioned this with the Detroit breakdown, but Delon Wright is going to be out for a few weeks which gives this Pistons team a chance to see what they have in newly acquired Dennis Smith Jr. here. He’s always been a nice point-per-minute guy in his career and saw 23 minutes last game with Wright in for the most part. He makes for a pretty elite value option whether he starts or not, but I’m expecting he gets the start in this one. The Research Station has him projected for 24.85 DraftKings points which would put him over 6x his price tag. Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 5x tonight I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
