Daytona Road Course

The Xfinity and Truck Series teams will be racing in Daytona for a second straight week, however this time it will be on the 3.61-mile road course. This week will mark the 2nd time both series have raced on the road course layout. For both series, the starting order will be decided by NASCAR’s wonderful formulation. This means many drivers who had bad finishes last weekend will start in the back of the field offering big place differential upside. There really isn’t much in terms of changes from last year for these races. Everything should be rather straightforward. Definitely would recommend doing a lot of research on last year’s race to help you navigate things for this weekend.

Xfinity Series and Truck Series Preview

There is very little I can do to spice this article up creatively. Both series set up very similar and should be played basically the same. Both races from last year were extremely straightforward and simple. There were a couple of incidents in both series and a handful of mechanical DNF’s. The drivers who were expected to win did and that even goes for the Cup Series race. If we get a timely caution in the middle of the stages we could get a shake-up in the running order but outside of that, I expect these races to be easy to predict. Each race will offer tons of great place differential plays. It will be important to try and find some lower owned leverage plays to try and separate your lineups from the pack. Unfortunately, because these races are so straightforward the chalk is very likely to hit and be in the optimal lineup. Cash games should be a great area to attack this week.

Favorite Xfinity Series Play: Miguel Paludo

I am super excited for Miguel Paludo to make his return to NASCAR. For backstory sake, Paludo runs a Brandt sponsored Porsche in the Porsche GT3 Carrera Cup Series. He is a 4 time champion of that series including winning the championship last year in 2020. Paludo raced 3 full-time Truck Series seasons and a couple of Xfinity road course races in the past. He will be starting in the back and should offer huge upside driving for one of the best teams in the series. I fully expect him to end up on the optimal lineup and he will be a cash must for me.

Favorite Truck Series Play: Todd Gilliland

Based on the formula NASCAR uses to set the starting lineups, Gilliland should start rather deep in the field. This will give him decent place differential upside. He had an electrical issue in the race last year so he will show a poor track history as well. I think people are off him as a driver which should hold his ownership down some which is a good thing. He has top 10 upside and I expect he starts somewhere around 25th-28th. Should have a solid price tag as well.
