Charlotte Roval

The Cup Series is back in Charlotte for the final road course race of 2020.  For those unfamiliar with this race, the Roval is a track layout that combines both the standard NASCAR oval as well as the infield road course. Surprisingly, minus a couple of instances, both the first two Roval races have been rather straight forward with long green flag runs. The most difficult part of this race seems to be turn one on restarts but if they make it through there things seem to get spread out and go green. Since we have will again have no practice for this race you should lean on last year’s race here as well as the recent Daytona road course race to help with lineup making.

DraftKings

Without variance, Chase Elliott and Martin Truex will be the two drivers to beat. Plain and Simple they are not really touchable on the road courses. SO naturally we will look to play 1 or both of them in nearly every lineup we make. With the low number of dominator points at our disposal plus the fact that pit strategy will shake things up a couple times throughout the race, I am less worried about how many dominators and simply trying to play the race winner. There are a handful of place differential plays that I find are much more important for this race. This race feels very chalky so I would recommend getting tricky with your 5th and 6th drivers in your lineup. To be different will be hard this week.

Favorite DK Play: Jimmie Johnson

HMS cars are the best on the road course currently and Jimmie starts 30th. I expect him to posses top 5 upside this week. ANything inside the top 10 will put him in the optimal lineup. Just too good of a play to pass up.

FanDuel

I do not care one bit about who leads any laps. If Chase and Truex are the drivers to beat then they will be our dominators. I doubt anyone leads enough for it to really matter otherwise with the low lap count. I am focusing on trying to get the two or three biggest place diff plays like Jimmie Johnson plus two or three of the best finishers. Truex, Chase types. I think there are several plays starting 5th-20th that can score really well who I may ignore on DK but will go heavy on FD. Alex Bowman, Kurt Busch are great examples of plays who I think can finish really well and score fantastic on FD but may not score enough on DK due to their lack of place diff points. For example, on DK a play like McDowell finishing 14th scoring 47 would outscore a 6th place finishing Kurt scoring 42. On FD Kurt outscores him by 4 points

Favorite FD Play: William Byron

I feel like absolutely nobody is going to play Byron this week. He will simply go over looked for starting too high or costing too much or simply not being a sexy enough play. He finished 8th at the Daytona road course and 6th in this race last year. Starting 13th he can add a few place diff points and anything inside the top 8 should get him right in line for the optimal. LOVE this spot
