Las Vegas

We have both the Truck Series and Xfinity Series racing in Las Vegas for the second time this season. Both series ran here in February before even COVID was a concern for delaying and impacting the season. Now both series return in the midst of the playoffs. Vegas is a 1.5 mile track with progressive banking. It traditionally has really favored the elite teams and the races usually consist of long green flag runs. In terms of strategy, these are usually very straight forward races.

Xfinity Series

The big 3 drivers in the series should be the top 3 to win this week. For me, Cindric, Allgaier, and Briscoe are the best drivers in the series and they will have the most speed heading into this weekend’s race. That speed has been there all year for these drivers on 1.5-mile tracks especially here at Vegas earlier this year. They combined to lead 191 of the 200 laps here. I believe we will look to run a two dominator lineup for every lineup with two of these drivers included. Your pivots would be to the Gibbs cars of Burton and Jones due to the JGR historical speed here even though the drivers aren’t the same level talent-wise.

RACE INFO

AVG. # of Cautions: 5 excluding stage breaks

AVG DNF’s: 9 per race

Favorite Xfinity Series Play: Michael Annett

I feel like we now who the top 3 plays are in terms of doms this week so picking one is a little too obvious. The area I am looking for is that #3 stud who can get close to scoring 50 points to pair with our doms. Annett has finished top 10 in 13 of his last 15 races in 2020. 1.5-mile tracks are his specialty and he has finishes of 5th, 5th, 8th, 8th, and 8th in his last 5 on this intermediate track type. Starts 13th so he offers some place diff points with his top 5 upside and I would expect he could grab a handful of fast laps as well.

Truck Series

The Truck Series race this week is a very interesting one. Austin Hill may be the “favorite” but there have to be nearly 10 drivers who are real threats to dominate or win. Thosport had 3 drivers finish inside the top 5 here in Feb. Crafton and Enfinger have been really strong at times this year as well. Then you have the GMS trucks who seem to be good absolutely everywhere. Zane Smith, Moffit, and Creed I believe are all contenders. And then there is the race winning team from February, KBM. We are probably looking for at most two dominators but trying to get as many of these top drivers as possible is a smart game plan. On the fun side of things, Travis Pastrana is back driving the #45 for Niece and IndyCar driver Conor Daly will make his NASCAR debut in the #42. Ryan Tuex is back in the #40 for the team as well.

Quick Facts

Date: September 25th

Race: Friday 9:00 pm ET.

Laps: 134  Stages: 40/80/134

Drivers: 38

Defending Champion: Brett Moffitt

Favorite Truck Series Play: Spencer Davis

Pricing is the only thing that can hold Davis back this week for me. He starts 32nd which means he has tons of place diff upside. His team runs best on 1.5 mile tracks especially Vegas where he finished 18th last fall and 12th earlier this year. Seem like a great shot at 50+ points this week.
