Full Court Press Breakdown for NBA DFS:

Utah Jazz @ San Antonio Spurs

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Luckily this game isn’t on the main slate on DraftKings because it’s going to be a bit of a mess. The Jazz have already ruled out Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, Royce O’Neale, and Mike Conley for this game to go along with Bojan Bogdanovic who is already out. We don’t have a big sample size on what to expect in terms of usage but we can at least get an idea. With all these guys off the court, it looks like Jordan Clarkson will benefit the most and would be one of the two guys that I’m most interested in. In a 41.7-minute sample size, he has a 31.1% usage rate and 1.58 fantasy points per minute on the season. I would expect him to get the start and put up as many shots as the Spurs allow him to. The other guy that I’ll have a good amount of interest in is Tony Bradley who should get the start at center with Gobert out. he’s got a 19.2% usage rate and 1.23 fantasy points per minute on the season. Joe Ingles would also be a guy that I would have a good amount of interest in, but after that, it’s a bit of a dart throw on guys like Emmanuel Mudiay and Georges Niang. From the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan has been a pretty consistent 40 DraftKings point scorer in the bubble which aligns pretty well with what he’s done this season. I don’t love him but I also don’t hate him in what should be a weaker Jazz defense. Dejounte Murray will always be closer to a GPP play than anything due to his volatility, he had a rough game last time out but will look to bounce back here. Rudy Gay of all people had a big game last time out going for 42 DraftKings points in 26 minutes. That would be about the ceiling for him, as Pop isn’t going to run him out there for 35 minutes. Jakob Poeltl hasn’t done anything that’s impressed me so far and I don’t want to pay that price tag for him. Lastly, Derrick White is probably the guy you want in the backcourt over Murray for cash games, he’s scored at least 35 DraftKings points in three of his last four games.

5-star play: Jordan Clarkson, Tony Bradley, Joe Ingles, DeMar DeRozan

4-star play: Emmanuel Mudiay, Dejounte Murray, Derrick White

Deeper Value: Georges Niang

GPP Sleeper: Dejounte Murray

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Memphis Grizzlies

Vegas Total: 223.0

Vegas Spread: OKC -5.0

Starting with the Thunder,  Dennis Schroeder left the bubble and won’t be back for this game meaning a boost for the other guards in this backcourt. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hasn’t exactly set the world on fire since Schroeder’s departure but he’s doing what he needs to do. I like the price on him and think the upside is still there in what should be a good matchup against the Grizzlies. Chris Paul is averaging 44.5 DraftKings points per game in two games against the Grizzlies this season, I don’t love the price tag but he’s certainly in play. Lastly, both Steven Adams and Danilo Gallinari are fine plays but they’ve both had some minutes volatility as of late that I’m not in love with. From the Grizzlies, Jonas Valanciunas got to 34 minutes last game which makes me feel good about his minutes going forward with Jaren Jackson out for the rest of the season. It’s a tough matchup with Steven Adams, but Valanciunas has proven to be an elite per-minute producer in his career. Brandon Clarke was massive chalk last time out and did nearly nothing in 27 minutes. I still like his talent and upside going forward if he’s going to keep getting starts for the injured Jackson. Ja Morant has been all over the place in the bubble, but for the most part he’s been very solid going for at least 44 DraftKings points in three of four games, he’s a nice GPP option here. The last guy I would have interest in from the Grizzlies would be Dillon Brooks who is seeing 30+ minutes on a nightly basis

5-star play: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ja Morant

4-star play: Chris Paul, Steven Adams, Danilo Gallinari, Brandon Clarke, Dillon Brooks

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks

Sacramento Kings @ Brooklyn Nets

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Starting with the Kings, De’Aaron Fox is on a heater right now, he’s gone for at least 49 DraftKings points in three of his last four games and is still under $8k, it’s tough not to like him in an elite matchup against the Nets. Buddy Hield got 31 minutes against the Mavericks and then 11 minutes yesterday… Luke Walton is honestly clueless. You can’t play Hield in anything other than GPPs until these minutes get solidified. Both Nemanja Bjelica and Richaun Holmes have been very below average to start this bubble, they’re GPP guys that I’m not trusting in cash until they prove it to me. Lastly, Bogdan Bogdanovic has been playing well and would make sense as a cash option in this spot. From the Nets, both Jarrett Allen and Joe Harris are questionable for this game so keep an eye on our Breaking News Feed for updates on them, but for now I’ll operate under the assumption that they’re playing. Caris LeVert played only 27 minutes last game but was able to put up nearly a fantasy point per minute. He’s more of a GPP play simply because we don’t know how many minutes he’ll see, but it’s a nice matchup. Jarrett Allen’s price has finally come up and is really the only true center on the team so the minutes will be there if he’s active, I like him for GPPs as well. Tyler Johnson is a no from me as long as LeVert and the rest of these guys are active, he just doesn’t do enough to produce. Lastly, Joe Harris is a guy that I’ll have GPP interest in as well if he’s active.

5-star play: De’Aaron Fox

4-star play: Nemanja Bjelica, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Buddy Hield, Richaun Holmes, Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen Joe Harris

Orlando Magic @ Philadelphia 76ers

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Starting with the Magic, Nikola Vucevic has been one of the more consistent options at center in the past few games. He gets a matchup against Embiid and the Sixers today, a matchup in which he’s averaging 44.5 DraftKings points per game against this season. I like him at a nice price tag under $8k. Aaron Gordon is listed as doubtful here after straining his hamstring last game which is a boost to Vucevic as well as he sees a 30.6% usage rate and 1.36 fantasy points per minute. Terrence Ross should see some extended run and extra shots with Gordon and Isaac out as well, he’s got a 25.2% usage rate and a fantasy point per minute as well. Evan Fournier is a solid cash option as well if you need a guard in that price range. Guys like Khem Birch and James Ennis should pick up a chunk of Gordon and Isaac’s minutes, if I had to play one it would be Ennis as he saw 28 minutes last game. From the Sixers, Ben Simmons will be out here; below is how the rest of the team grades out with Simmons off the floor this season…

  • Joel Embiid – 37.3% usage rate; 1.68 fpm
  • Tobias Harris – 25.6% usage rate; 1.08 fpm
  • Al Horford – 18.9% usage rate; 1.05 fpm
  • Shake Milton – 20.9% usage rate; 0.99 fpm

These are the four guys I would have the most interest in, with Embiid being the runaway favorite with a massive control of this offense, he’s an elite play. I do think this makes Al Horford more playable than he’s been recently, as he’ll pick up some of those power forward minutes that Simmons was playing.

5-star play: Joel Embiid, Nikola Vucevic

4-star play: Terrence Ross, Evan Fournier, Tobias Harris, Al Horford, Shake Milton

Deeper Value: Khem Birch, James Ennis

GPP Sleeper: Shake Milton, Josh Richardson

Washington Wizards @ New Orleans Pelicans

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

This should be a fun one, as both defenses are, well… bad. I’ll start with the Wizards, Shabazz Napier was moved to the bench against the Pacers and looked good but then played just 18 minutes last game, he’s a deep GPP option if anything for me. Ish Smith has been getting the bulk of the point guard minutes and is looking decent. I do like the matchup and the price is alright with a little upside left on the bone, I’ll take some shots with him GPP. Thomas Bryant has been playing great basketball as of late and a matchup with the Pels doesn’t necessarily scare me, he still feels too cheap. Rui Hachimura just hasn’t shown enough of a ceiling for me to have a whole lot of interest. Lastly, Troy Brown has played well in his last three games and still feels slightly underpriced as well. From the Pelicans, Zion Williamson was having his minutes monitored last game and I would expect the same here in this game. I just won’t be playing him at this price, he doesn’t have the ceiling with a minutes limit to get where you want in a GPP.  The rest of this lineup is priced about right to me, JJ Redick makes sense as a salary saver, while guys like Lonzo Ball, Jrue Holiday, and Brandon Ingram feel priced about right, Holiday is actually way too expensive on DraftKings, I’m not sure what he’s done to deserve a $9.3k price tag but yikes. That said, Ball and Ingram are both playable in a phenomenal matchup, targeting the Wizards normally turns in to DFS gold.

5-star play: Thomas Bryant, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram

4-star play: Ish Smith, Rui Hachimura, Troy Brown

Deeper Value: JJ Redick

GPP Sleeper: Jrue Holiday, Shabazz Napier, JJ Redick, Josh Hart

Boston Celtics @ Toronto Raptors

Vegas Total: 218.5

Vegas Spread: Tor -3.0

We round out the day with what should be a fun game to watch against these two Eastern Conference teams, I don’t love the total for DFS purposes, but it will be a fun one regardless. From the Celtics, Jayson Tatum has finally seen his price tag come down below $8k and to a point where I would feel good playing him. He’s averaging 35.1 DraftKings points per game in three games against the Raptors on the season. Kemba Walker will return here and after playing 27 minutes before resting last game, I would think he’s close to a full go here and should see at least 30 minutes. At this price tag, I think he’s very playable unless we hear his minutes come down. Guys like Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, and Marcus Smart are all solid GPP options. Lastly, Daniel Theis makes sense for GPPs as well although his minutes came down last game that could be due to the massive blowout against the Nets. From the Raptors, Pascal Siakam has been less than impressive to start this restart and saw a price bump since his last game. He’s a fine option for GPPs because he has the upside, but he’s too expensive for cash games for me. Kyle Lowry came back down to Earth last game but has played 35 minutes in three straight games, he’s going to continue to see big minutes like this, he’s hard not to like. Fred VanVleet is on a heater right now, he’s gone for at least 40 DraftKings points in three straight games and makes sense here as well considering all the minutes he’s getting. Serge Ibaka hasn’t been getting big minutes or doing a ton with the minutes that he’s gotten, can’t say I’m confident in going with him here. Lastly, OG Anunoby has been getting big minutes as well and you could do worse in this price range.

5-star play: Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker, Fred VanVleet

4-star play: Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, Marcus Smart, Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Daniel Theis, Serge Ibaka, OG Anunoby

NBA Lock of the Day: Joel Embiid (DK – $10.5k; FD – $9.8k)

Well, Bam Adebayo was a massive disappointment yesterday, but I love today’s lock. Joel Embiid gets a matchup with the Magic and as mentioned above, the Sixers will be without Ben Simmons meaning this offense will run through Embiid. He has a 37.3% usage rate and 1.68 fantasy points per minute with Simmons off the court this season. The DraftKings price is fair on him but that FanDuel price is far too low. I’ll be overweight on him on both sites as he has legit 85 point upside in this spot. Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 6.5x I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
