Toronto Raptors @ Miami Heat

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

We kick off Monday with an island game on DraftKings, but this game is on the FanDuel slate, so a reminder that FanDuel will lock pretty early. We’ll start with the Raptors, Pascal Siakam is cheaper than Kyle Lowry on DraftKings and playing nearly 40 minutes. He had a tough matchup last time out but I can’t say it gets a whole lot better here, I still like his upside, however. Kyle Lowry dropped 63 DraftKings points on the Lakers in his first game in the bubble. He’s the most expensive player on the slate on DraftKings but how can you not like his production? Serge Ibaka and Fred VanVleet make sense as secondary options and nice GPP options as they can both get hot from three in a hurry but can also hurt you every now and then. If I’m picking one between the two it’s VanVleet who played 40 minutes last time out. Lastly, Marc Gasol played 25 minutes last game, if he can get near that number again here he’ll make sense as a cheap value option. From the Heat, this is a tough spot for Bam Adebayo who will have to bang down low with Siakam and Gasol. That said, Adebayo played just 28 minutes last game on his way to 40.25 DraftKings points. Jimmy Butler will likely be the guy I want from the Heat, he’s not too overly expensive and I expect him to try and carry this Heat team who people think have a chance to give the Bucks a run for the Eastern Conference. Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn are fine options but neither are guys that I’m prioritizing here. The same thing can be said for Goran Dragic although I would much prefer those first two guys to Dragic here. Lastly, you can always take a flyer on Jae Crowder just in case he has one of those games where he gets hot from three and knocks down five or six.

5-star play: Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam, Jimmy Butler

4-star play: Fred VanVleet, Bam Adebayo, Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Serge Ibaka, Marc Gasol, Jae Crowder

Denver Nuggets @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Starting with the Nuggets, Jamaal Murray, Gary Harris, and Will Barton are all listed as “very questionable” I take that as doubtful, so I’ll operate under the assumption that they’ll be out here. Nikola Jokic was fine last game finishing with 39 DraftKings points, but you need more than that out of him at this price. Steven Adams plays tough defense and I’m not sure if Jokic losing all that weight will have anything to do with his production, he’s more of a GPP guy for me. Monte Morris saw a price jump after last game, as he’ll be the point guard you want with all these guys out from the Nuggets. He was fine last game, but nothing special, he’s a secondary play at his new price tag. Micael Porter Jr. was pretty chalky last game as well and also saw a price increase, he’s a GPP option here after not looking great last time out. Lastly, you can make a case for Paul Millsap as a secondary option here. From the Thunder,  Chris Paul and Danilo Gallinari got off to a hot start last game but both finished pretty moderately. They’re both secondary options here, I can’t say I love this game. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dennis Schroder are similar to me, although I would lean Gilgeous-Alexander for cash and Schroder for GPPs as Schroder only played 22 minutes last game. Lastly, Steven Adams is a fine play in a tough matchup against Jokic, however, I do think this weight drop is a thing for Jokic so I do like Adams a bit more than I usually would.

5-star play: None

4-star play: Nikola Jokic, Monte Morris, Chris Paul, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Michael Porter Jr, Dennis Schroeder, Paul Millsap, Steven Adams

Indiana Pacers @ Washington Wizards

Vegas Total: 227.5

Vegas Spread: Ind -7.5

Starting with the Pacers, Malcolm Brogdon is listed as questionable while Victor Oladipo is listed as doubtful meaning there could be a bunch of minutes open in the backcourt. Aaron Holiday performed very well last game without Brogdon, he played 34 minutes on his way to 37.75 DraftKings points, he’s a nice option again here tonight. TJ Warren stole the show last time out, dropping 53 real-life points on his way to 70.5 DraftKings points. I normally hate chasing big games like this especially from a volatile player like Warren but in a great matchup where the Pacers have some injuries, I won’t ignore him. Big men against the Wizards is something I’ve been targeting all season long and that won’t end tonight. Myles Turner is in a good spot here after playing a pretty poor game last time out, he may come in under-owned and can provide some leverage in GPPs. From the Wizards, Shabazz Napier has been a real disappointment in the Wizards first two bubble games. I’ll let other people play him for now, I’m going to make him prove it to me before I go back to him here. Ish Smith has been the point guard you want from this team, he’s scored 30+ DraftKings points in two straight games and just looks better. Thomas Bryant went bananas last night against the Nets with 59.75 DraftKings points. He played 37 minutes and saw a pretty sizeable price increase, he’s more of a GPP option here. Lastly, Troy Brown went out and played well as well, he dropped a 50 burger on the Nets and looked great. He’s still cheap enough where I would feel comfortable going with him in cash games.

5-star play: Aaron Holiday

4-star play: TJ Warren, Myles Turner, Ish Smith, Thomas Bryant, Troy Brown

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: TJ Warren, Shabazz Napier

Memphis Grizzlies @ New Orleans Pelicans

Vegas Total: 237.0

Vegas Spread: No -4.5

Starting with the Grizzlies, Jonas Valanciunas had a nice bounce-back game last time out but just feels too expensive here, he’s more of a GPP guy due to his massive upside. Ja Morant has back to back 47+ DraftKings point games and I love him here against the Pelicans who play very little defense and play extremely fast. Morant is one of my favorite plays on the slate at this price tag. Jaren Jackson Jr. has looked good in his first two games, but can get handsy causing for some foul issues, I like him here regardless due to the great matchup. The last guys I would have interest in from the Grizzlies would be Dillon Brooks and Brandon Clarke as a mid-range option. From the Pelicans, Zion Williamson was having his minutes monitored last game and I would expect the same here in this game. I just won’t be playing him at this price, he doesn’t have the ceiling with a minutes limit to get where you want in a GPP.  The rest of this lineup is priced about right to me, JJ Redick makes sense as a salary saver at sub $4k after having a big night on opening night, while guys like Lonzo Ball, Jrue Holiday, and Brandon Ingram feel priced about right, Holiday may even be a little expensive. But all three of them played pretty poorly against the Clippers on Saturday, that said, you can certainly go right back to them in a game with the highest total on the slate.

5-star play: Ja Morant, Brandon Ingram

4-star play: Jonas Valanciunas, Lonzo Ball, Jrue Holiday, Dillon Brooks

Deeper Value: JJ Redick, Josh Hart

GPP Sleeper: Jonas Valancunas, Brandon Clarke, Lonzo Ball

San Antonio Spurs @ Philadelphia 76ers

Vegas Total: 228.5

Vegas Spread: Phi -7.0

Starting with the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan is playing all the minutes he can handle right now and getting a good amount of the usage with Aldridge out for the season. That said, he hasn’t done anything overly impressive yet in the bubble. He did see a price bump making him more of a GPP option for me. Dejounte Murray bounced back nicely last night after getting into foul trouble in their first game. I like going right back to him in GPPs on this slate. Jakob Poeltl played just 21 minutes last game and will have his hands full with Joel Embiid and company, he saw a price increase and just isn’t a guy I want to get to here. Lastly, Derrick White is probably the guy you want in the backcourt over Murray for cash games, he’s scored at least 35 DraftKings points in two straight. One side note, if Patty Mills is out again here, Lonnie Walker becomes a great value play as well after dropping 25 DraftKings points last time out. From the Sixers, Joel Embiid is priced right where he should be here after dropping 81 DraftKings points in his first game in the bubble. He should be able to do whatever he wants against a Spurs team without Aldridge, he’s a great play here. Ben Simmons came out and played well in their first game and targeting point guards against the Spurs is something I’ve done all season song. I love this spot for Simmons. Al Horford doesn’t seem like he’s going to get the minutes to be worth the price tag that he’s got right now, he’s a full fade for me until he shows some consistency. I do however like the price on Tobias Harris and will get to him a decent amount, he did see a pretty decent price bump though. Lastly, Shake Milton looked horrendous on Saturday, he’s a hard sell on this slate in anything other than a GPP. The same can be said for Josh Richardson.

5-star play: Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons

4-star play: DeMar DeRozan, Dejounte Murray, Derrick White, Tobias Harris

Deeper Value: Lonnie Walker

GPP Sleeper: Dejounte Murray, Al Horford, Shake Milton, Josh Richardson

Los Angeles Lakers @ Utah Jazz

Vegas Total: 217.5

Vegas Spread: Lal -6.0

This game has the lowest implied total on the slate by a good amount, so keep that in mind when you’re building your rosters. Starting with the Lakers, Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and Kyle Kuzma are all probable here so we shouldn’t need to sweat out Lakers news prior to lock which is a wonderful feeling. Both James and Davis are elite plays again here even with the stellar defense that the Jazz play. The Lakers will be without Avery Bradley for the rest of the season as he as decided to sit out due to Coronavirus concerns. He was playing 24.2 minutes per game this season and played 27.6 minutes per game over their last ten games. He was a key part of their rotation and will open up minutes for the ancillary pieces. Danny Green has killed me in the past two games, I’m going to make him prove it to me before going back to him again. The rest of this team is pretty much just deeper GPP plays due to the usage that LeBron and Davis command. From the Jazz, Jordan Clarkson finally saw a price boost after being chalk for their first two games. He’s their bench scoring guy who can come in and put up points in a hurry, but he’s a lot harder to play at this price tag. He’s more of a GPP guy now. Donovan Mitchell is averaging 42 DraftKings points per game in two games against the Lakers this season. He’s struggling a bit without having that secondary scoring option with Bojan out, but he’s priced nicely here. Rudy Gobert has struggled a bit in this spot this season, it’s a tough matchup for him, but similar to Mitchell he’s got a nice price and makes sense for cash games. Royce O’Neale and Mike Conley have looked pretty solid to start this restart, both are solid secondary options if you fall on them. Lastly, Joe Ingles is getting the minutes but he’s just not producing all that much, he’s more of a GPP guy.

5-star play: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Donovan Mitchell

4-star play:  Kyle Kuzma, Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, Royce O’Neale

Deeper Value: Danny Green

GPP Sleeper: Joe Ingles, Kyle Kuzma

NBA Lock of the Day: Ja Morant (DK – $7.3k; FD – $7.5k)

My lock of the night last night was Giannis and he came in at around 80% owned on DraftKings but did not disappoint. Tonight I’m going with the young kid in Ja Morant. I love the matchup with New Orleans. The Pelicans are playing incredibly fast and not playing a ton of defense. Not only this but Ja has scored at least 47 DraftKings points in two straight games. He’s too cheap here and my favorite play on the slate, go get yourself some Ja! Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 6.5x I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
