Kentucky Speedway

This week the Cup Series heads to the 1.5-mile cookie cutter of an intermediate track that is Kentucky Speedway. The track was repaved a few years ago and has been relegated to a one lane track since that time. Due to this NASCAR and the track officials determined that it would be best to put down the PJ1 traction compound in the upper grooves of the track. This was done in an effort to produce more side by side racing. This is yet another track where track position is vital and we should see pit strategy be very important this weekend. We will not have practice or qualifying so we will focus on history to help build lineups. The DFSArmy Research station is the best place to find past track history as well as recent history on a particular track type.

DraftKings

I like a 2-3 dominator strategy for this week unless you are trying to play Bell. I think we see 2-3 different drivers lead large chunks of this race. There are enough laps for these drivers to separate from any place differential plays. I also do not expect much carnage so I expect the top tier drivers to finish towards the front. Most of the best place differential plays are going to be in the mid to low price tier which should set up well for lineup construction. This feels like a fairly straight forward race for DraftKings. The biggest question I have for this race is whether or not the Hendrick cars continue to have the most speed on 1.5 mile tracks or if we see the likes of Hamlin and Harvick continue their domination.

Favorite DK Play: Ryan Newman

Newman is going to be one of the best place differential plays available. He will start 23rd and has an upside in the 8th-12th range. He has finished 18th or better in 75% of the races since returning. A clean race should net him mid 30s in DK points but if he can get track position then I believe he can get well into the 40s. He also will carry a very favorable price tag.

FanDuel

We have 26.7 dominator points this week for FD. This will get me on a two dominator strategy for the site. I will look to build lineups using 2-3 top tier, dominator threats, and then round it out with the high place differential value plays starting deep in the field. This feels like a very stars and scrubs kind of week. Most drivers are starting close to where their expected finish will be so we don’t have many with clear cut place differential points to add to their totals. This means it is all about picking the right combo of high finishers. We should see ownership spread out more as a result.

Favorite FD Play: Denny Hamlin

Hamlin is good everywhere right now. His speed doesn’t appear to be specific to any particular track type. He will start 12th on the race so even if he never leads but gets into the top 5 he should score really well. I like when top tier drivers can have an easier path to points instead of relying on the to lead like we will with his teammate Kyle Busch.

NASCAR on SuperDraft

DFS Army members took 16 of the top 20 spots in the big $12 contest on SuperDraft this past week. Stinger scored over $6,000 in winning alone. We have proven to have the best SuperDraft content available for NASCAR. For this week SuperDraft really adjusted the multiplier for the elite drivers. While I still believe you will want to have at least one of the top dominators if not two of them, it will certainly be harder for those drivers to deliver the scores needed to be optimal. The mid tier multiplied drivers also had a shake up which should give some of the high multiplier drivers even more viability for this race. Of course, we will have our best in the industry notes and projections available for the slate to help show exactly who the best plays are.
