The iRacing Pro Invitational race this week will be at Dover International Speedway.
Dover Race Info
- We will see a 36 car field including newcomer Regan Smith
- Top 3 finishers from Talladega will start from rear of the field (Alex Bowman, Corey LaJoie and Ryan Preece) Hopefully they get this sorted this week and force every other driver to qualify.
- Top 10 qualifiers will be inverted. 1st will actually start 10th, 2nd starts 9th.. etc 10th place qualifier will lead the field to the green flag. (iRacing has fixed issue that occurred last week and expect to do the field invert this week)
- Draftkings will now score based on the official iRacing qualifying results. Whatever it says post qualifying is where the driver will be scored from.
- 150 lap race with manual cautions and three Green-White-Checkered attempts
- 1 fast repair available
- Qualifying scheduled for 12:50 with DFS lock scheduled for 1:10. Both subject to change
Things are picking back up in the sports world in the next couple weeks. UFC is returning with 3 cards from May 9th-16th. NASCAR is returning with SEVEN races between May 17th-27th. eSports and eNASCAR are still active as well. DFS Strategy
Play the elite drivers. Byron, Hill and Cassill continue to finish up front every week because of the work they put into iRacing. Dover is a technical drivers track with a turn two wall that jumps out at you and cars that get fairly loose off both turns 2 and 4. With such a large field I would expect numerous wrecks. If the field gets spread out then a wreck should only involve 1-3 cars. However, a wreck directly after a restart is the perfect situation for a 8-10 car pile up. If for some reason they manage a long green flag run then tire management will be important. After 20 laps or so the car will start to push on exit forcing more off throttle time. Realistically you need a green flag run of 40-50 laps for this to really matter, something I don’t anticipate we see.
