Esports – LPL 4/19 3am ET

Notes for Tonight’s 4/19 LPL 3am ET Slate

3 game slate tonight with playoffs coming soon.

LPL

JDG (-550) vs LGD (+340)

JDG are still fighting for that top 2 spot and they are banking on a FPX loss tomorrow. They will try their hardest to win this game and that does not bode well for LGD. LGD have been a good underdog target this season but it is not a great spot for them here. Peanut has shown his ineffectiveness against top junglers and Kanavi is just that. I do not think Peanut can outjungle Kanavi enough for LGD to do their snowball and JDG should be able to control it from there. Typically JDG plays a more objective focused game but since LGD love to fight there is potential for this game to become a high scoring one. JDG are also very cheap on DK and a good starting point for cash games with GPP upside.

Players to watch (JDG): Kanavi, Loken. Zoom
Players to watch (LGD): Peanut, Kramer, Killua

WE (+240) vs EDG (-345)

Everyone is really high on WE again. We saw what happened last time when people overrate WE and I expect a similar result in this match. EDG are subbing in Aodi and Junjia and people immediately think this makes it a close game and WE are now favoured. That is completely incorrect. Aodi and Junjia both played very well when they were in the starting lineup and while I would technically consider it a slight downgrade, it is not a game changer that suddenly make WE extremely attractive as a target. People are just desperately looking for a dog to stack so this substitution is a great way for them to justify playing WE. There is talk about the playoff narrative that WE need to win this game to make playoffs, but that was the same in their last match against LNG. They should have won that one if they really wanted playoffs. Since they are pretty much the best dog available you can use them in GPP since they have good upside when they win. EDG are the better team even with the substitutes and I think Teacherma’s champion pool is a liability for WE. Give me EDG here.

Players to watch (WE): Jiumeng, Missing, Teacherma
Players to watch (EDG): Hope, Scout, Meiko (I am unsure if EDG would sub out Junjia/Aodi)

IG (-1400) vs LNG (+600)

Contrary to popular belief IG has not confirmed 1st seed yet. Both 1st and 2nd get the semifinal byes but the opponents will be different. Being first is still desirable and I think IG should still want to win this game. Maybe they do not however and they just have fun. In this case LNG could win if IG do decide to mess around and try off meta picks. IG are much better in terms of individual skill and maybe even map play compared to LNG. LNG did get a win against WE in their last game but I do not think that is a repeatable performance against an actual good team. IG will roll this game if they take it seriously but even if they don’t the game could become a massive fiesta and IG could score high. Even if IG isn’t playing 100% serious they can still beat LNG just by being better players.

Players to watch (IG): Rookie, TheShy, Puff
Players to watch (LNG): Maple. Xx, Chenlun17

Favourite stacks: JDG > IG > EDG > WE > LNG > LGD
