Phoenix

Phoenix raceway is a flat, one mile track with two completely different sets of corners on either end of the track. The races here see multiple long green flag runs with very few cautions overall. Speed is speed at Phoenix. Single lap speed translates well into long run speed. The elite teams absolutely dominate here. Practice speeds are great to utilize to determine who the top plays will be. 25 of the last 27 winners started inside the top 5 and 12 of the last 15 from inside the top 3. When looking for potential winners you won’t have to look far. The track will apply the PJ1 traction compound this week in the upper grooves. Weather is expected to be sunny with temps in the 80’s.

There are 39 cars on the entry list but only 36 cars will make the race. There will be 3 DNF’s

Top Tier/Dominators

For dominators at Phoenix we usually look for at most two. However, with Kyle Busch in the field it often becomes a one dominator race. In his last nine races, Kyle has 7 wins and has led 75% of the laps in that span. The two races Busch didn’t win were won by Brad Keselowski who is also in the race this week. These two will be the main threats to dominate and win this week and will see most of our attention. If there is to be an Xfinity Series regular to challenge it will likely be Justin Allgaier doing so. Allgaier has finished 4th in 7 of the last 10 including two wins. Guys like Briscoe, Cindric, Gragson, and Jones will see their value likely diminished based on the likelihood they will not be able to get much in terms of fast laps or laps led.

Mid/Low Tier Value plays

It is no secret that Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski are going to be priced rather high. To offset the pricing we have to get really clever and find the best value plays. There are a few plays like Josh Williams, Brandon Brown and, Tommy Joe Martins who have already shown to be good value options. This week though we have a few driver changes that could offer some good pricing value. Jeff Green is in the #93, Dillon Basset will be in the #90, and Timmy Hill is back in the #61 this week. These are the type of plays that should be under priced and offer great value. Of course, once qualifying is over we will have a better idea of who the best plays will be.

Cheat Sheets

For the 2020 NASCAR season the DFS Army is now post qualifying cheat sheets for both the Xfinity & Truck Series. These cheat sheets will pinpoint core plays, gpp main plays, cash plays & fades with drivers specific notes. Cheats Sheets are only available with a DFS Army VIP memberships!!! These notes were a huge hit for the Daytona Speedweeks with multiple members hitting big on the Truck and Xfinity Series. Absolutely nobody else offers this kind of up to the minute DFS coverage on these series. Join today and use promo code LARKIN for 20% off membership.

NASCAR NEWS

Some fun news came out in the past week that Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and, Erik Jones will enter Truck races in the next couple races to attempt to win the bounty put on Kyle Busch by Kevin Harvick. Elliott will race a GMS truck at Atlanta and Kansas while Larson will race the same truck at Homestead. Erik Jones will race at Homestead as well with a Toyota prepared by some old school NASCAR owners, Billy Ballew and James Finch, who are looking to have some fun. Also, we found out that Tony Stewart will race the Xfinity Series race on the Indy road course in July. These should be some exciting storylines to follow.
