NBA Full Court Press Breakdown, Advice, and Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – Feb. 9th, 2020

Welcome to another year of the DFS Army NBA Full Court Press! Members had a ton of success using the Full Court Press along with various articles and tools that DFS Army provides, that said, we are glad to be back with another year of the all-inclusive article. You have to start your research somewhere, and oftentimes going game by game and breaking down every matchup and its key players is the first step in our process. My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the advice in the article. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Before I get started, make sure to check out the latest new DFS website. SuperDraft is an innovative new DFS site that does not have salaries but instead uses a multiplier system and better yet, THEY HAVE LATE SWAP! Check out more on how it works below!

Full Court Press:

Boston Celtics @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

This game is the lone early game so if you want pieces of this one you’ll have to get some showdown action. That said we will get started with the Celtics, who are all sorts of banged up right now. It’s pretty hard to analyze this team until we get some news, but at the moment we have Gordon Hayward, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, and Daniel Theis all questionable. We will have a sheet made for this game so once this news starts to come out go take a look at Mutt’s Showdown Sheet for some deeper analysis! We can breakdown the Thunder side of things however, starting with Chris Paul. He has 40+ DraftKings points in two of his last four and has been the most consistent piece on this team. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is your hybrid type of point guard, he has a GPP ceiling and a fairly decent floor that you can count on. Dennis Schroeder is similar to Gilgeous-Alexander, he has at least 40 DraftKings points in four of his last five games. Danilo Gallinari has been pretty consistent as of late as well, the Celtics can be tough on wings but I’m okay taking a shot on him. Lastly, it looks like Steven Adams has seen his minutes come back up, I like him against a very weak Celtics frontcourt.

5-star play: Chris Paul, Celtics TBD

4-star play: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dennis Schroeder, Danilo Gallinari, Steven Adams, Celtics TBD

Deeper Value: TBD

GPP Sleeper: Dennis Schroeder, Celtics TBD

Memphis Grizzlies @ Washington Wizards

Vegas Total: 241

Vegas Spread: Mem -1.5

This game has a massive 241 game total, so finding DFS production here should be encouraged! Starting with the Grizzlies, Jonas Valanciunas isn’t in the best form lately, but a matchup against the Wizards is more than enough to reverse that. He has an elite ceiling for GPPs. Ja Morant has seen his production fall a little bit as of late, but he scored 35.5 DraftKings points in this matchup earlier this season and in such a fast-paced game he’s hard to ignore. Jaren Jackson is a bit all over the place lately, I do like his price tag for GPPs with that said. Both Brandon Clarke and Dillion Brooks make solid secondary options, while De’Anthony Melton is the highest projected point per dollar play on the team. From the Wizards, it’s hard not to like Bradley Beal right now, especially against a team that plays little defense. He scored 56.5 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season and has played at least 35 minutes in six straight games. Davis Bertans has back to back games with at least 37 DraftKings points, he really needs to shoot well to hit value, but in a good matchup, I like going to him here. It will be interesting to see how they use Ish Smith and Shabazz Napier, I would assume Napier just takes over the McRae role, so I don’t think Ish will be impacted in a negative way, they are both solid GPP options. Lastly, Rui Hachimura has seen his minutes increase since returning from injury, I love the price tag on him here, he’s a great option in all formats.

5-star play: Bradley Beal

4-star play:  Jonas Valanciunas, Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson, Davis Bertans, Rui Hachimura

Deeper Value: De’Anthony Melton

GPP Sleeper: Dillion Brooks, Brandon Clarke, Shabazz Napier, Ish Smith

Chicago Bulls @ Philadelphia 76ers

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Starting with the Bulls, this team is a mess right now, Zach LaVine questionable while Markkanen, Carter Jr, Porter Jr, and Dunn are all out. If LaVine plays, I do like him here as the offense will run through him and has flashed some very big games this season. I don’t love the matchup for Thaddeus Young, this is a big frontcourt for the Sixers and I’ll just wait for a better spot to go after him. I do like Tomas Satoransky with all the injuries that the Bulls have, his minutes should be secure, however, he only saw 23 last game. I expect that to come up, he’s a solid secondary play. Chandler Hutchinson continues to play well and is too cheap for the production that he is getting, he has at least 25 DraftKings points in three of his last four games. Lastly, Coby White saw 31 minutes last game on his way to 35 DraftKings points, I would expect he gets similar minutes and will see an increased usage rate if LaVine is forced to miss. From the Sixers, Ben Simmons is playing great basketball right now and scored 46.8 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, it’s tough not to like him here. Joel Embiid is hard to trust right now, he’s all sorts of banged up but sounds like he’s going to give it a go here. This team is in some trouble right now and it sounds like it’s locker room related and that kind of thing gets to Embiid, from what I believe, he’s more of a GPP option here. Tobias Harris has played well as of late, going for two straight 41+ DraftKings games, I like him as a secondary play here. The same thing can be said for Al Horford, his minutes will continue to be consistent, he is questionable however so keep an eye on that news. Both Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson need to pass their physicals yet before they can play, I still want to see their role on this team before I commit to them in my lineups even if they do get cleared.

5-star play: Zach LaVine, Ben Simmons

4-star play: Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Chandler Hutchinson, Tomas Satoransky

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Coby White, Luke Kornet, Al Horford

New York Knicks @ Atlanta Hawks

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Starting with the Knicks, RJ Barrett has seen his minutes come up in his last game but I would assume is still on a minutes limit here, he’s a fade until he’s back up to full minutes. The other big news on this team is that Marcus Morris was traded to the Clippers which will open up minutes and usage in that frontcourt, here is how the team performs with him off the court this season;

  • Julius Randle – 30.5% usage rate; 1.31 fpm
  • Bobby Portis – 21.1% usage rate; 0.95 fpm
  • Mitchell Robinson – 12.2% usage rate; 0.92 fpm

Julius Randle is the only guy that sees over a fantasy point per minute and is an elite play going forward especially against a Hawks team that will be without Clint Capela here. Taj Gibson and Reggie Bullock picked up Marcus Morris’s minutes on Thursday, but I’m not huge on either of them, I wish they would just run Bobby Portis out there for 30 minutes. Elfrid Payton is in incredible form and has scored 44+ DraftKings points in three of his last four games, he’s a great play here. Lastly, Mitchell Robinson is expected to play here, he’s more of a deep GPP guy as he’s been pretty volatile as of late. From the Hawks, Trae Young is currently questionable, for the sake of this article I will operate under the assumption that he plays, keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed if he gets ruled out for updates. He scored 61 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season and is an elite play if he can go. John Collins has six straight games of 40+ DraftKings points, he’s a great play and would see an even bigger boost if Trae were to sit. Kevin Huerter is playing all the minutes he can handle right now and makes for a great play in all formats against a bad defense. Lastly, if Young sits, Jeff Teague will get the start but I actually prefer Brandon Goodwin who played 28 minutes last game on his way to 31 DraftKings points at a much cheaper price tag.

5-star play: Julius Randle, Elfrid Payton, Trae Young

4-star play: Kevin Huerter, John Collins

Deeper Value: Brandon Goodwin

GPP Sleeper: Mitchell Robinson, Jeff Teague

Utah Jazz @ Houston Rockets

Vegas Total: 233

Vegas Spread: Hou -4.0

Starting with the Jazz, I will likely be streaming big men against this Rockets team until further notice. Houston simply does not have a big man right now and are running extremely small, that said, this formula did work against the Jazz last time out, but I’m willing to overlook it, Rudy Gobert is an elite play here. Donovan Mitchell scored 51.8 DraftKings points in this spot last week, he’s a great option in a pace up spot. Bojan Bogdanovic continues to play consistent basketball and this is the game script where I like to target him, if he can get hot from the field, lookout. Mike Conley has played very well over his last three games scoring at least 32 DraftKings points in each of them, he’s too cheap given his production right now. From the Rockets, James Harden is an elite play every night but is coming off two down performances, if you want to play him I won’t talk you off of him, but it will come down to roster construction for me. Russell Westbrook is currently questionable here so keep an eye on that. If he plays he’s a great option as he is on a heater right now, he has at least 50 DraftKings points in nine of his last ten games. Robert Covington wasted no time getting big minutes for this team, he shot poorly last game, but those shots will be there on this team, I like him here. Lastly, PJ Tucker now has center eligibility on DraftKings… yeah they’re going extremely small… I don’t hate him here but he’s been pretty bad over his last few games.

5-star play: Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Russell Westbrook

4-star play:  Bojan Bogdanovic, Mike Conley, Robert Covington, PJ Tucker

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: PJ Tucker, Joe Ingles, Eric Gordon

Los Angeles Clippers @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Starting with the Clippers, they acquired Marcus Morris at the deadline as another scoring threat, keep an eye out to see if he’s available today. If so, he’s too expensive for what his new role is, although I may have some interest if Kawhi or George sits. Kawhi Leonard has 40+ DraftKings points in all three games since Paul George came back, he’s a nice play in a fast-paced game against a bad defense. Speaking of Paul George, he has back-to-back games of at least 47 fantasy points, I like him here as well. I would expect one of Paul George or Kawhi to sit here on the back end of a back-to-back, if one sits the other is an elite play, if they both sit, look for the ancillary pieces on this team. Montrezl Harrell just has not been in good form and is a fade for me even in a great matchup, he gets a boost if one of the stars sit though. The same can be said for Lou Williams, although if you want to throw a dart at him in GPPs I won’t talk you off of it in a great matchup. From the Cavs, Andre Drummond will make his Cavs debut here and I would expect him to be launched right into big minutes for this team. I have no issue going with him here as the Clippers have struggled with big men this season. Kevin Love is a decent option here, although my guess would be he draws one of those elite defenders from the Clippers, so not my favorite guy on this slate. Collin Sexton continues to play big minutes and perform pretty consistently, I don’t have an issue with him here especially for GPPs. Larry Nance will likely take a hit with Drummond now on board, it will be interesting to see how they use him and Tristan Thompson now, they’re both fades for me until we see their new roles.

5-star play: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Andre Drummond

4-star play: Kevin Love, Lou Williams, Collin Sexton

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell

Miami Heat @ Portland Trailblazers

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Starting with the Heat, Jimmy Butler has been ruled out here, below is how the rest of the team fares with he and Tyler Herro off the court;

  • Goran Dragic – 26.8% usage rate; 1.21 fpm
  • Duncan Robinson – 13.9% usage rate; 0.75 fpm
  • Bam Adebayo – 25.4% usage rate; 1.57 fpm
  • Kendrick Nunn – 23.1% usage rate; 1.06 fpm

I love me some Adebayo here, I have been streaming centers against Hassan Whiteside over the past few weeks and it has been very profitable. Both Goran Dragic and Kendrick Nunn are great plays as well. The new acquisitions are said to be available here but it’s unknown if they’ll play or not. I will be fading them until we know their new roles. From the Blazers, Hassan Whiteside scored 48.5 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season and has at least 50 DraftKings points in three of his last four games, he’s way too cheap here. Damian Lillard scored 62.3 DraftKings points on the Heat earlier this year and bounced right back last game with 66.5 DraftKings points, he’s a great GPP option. CJ McCollum is playing big minutes right now, he makes sense as a secondary option and sees a boost with Butler not defending him. Lastly, I’ll leave Carmelo Anthony for GPPs, as he needs to shoot well to hit value.

5-star play: Bam Adebayo, Goran Dragic, Kendrick Nunn, Hassan Whiteside, Damian Lillard

4-star play: CJ McCollum, Duncan Robinson, Carmelo Anthony

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Carmelo Anthony, Duncan Robinson
