Welcome again fellow fight fans to a Saturday Night of UFC action. This time we have a 12-fight card taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada. There are several very close matches on this card which will make for some interesting choices in your tournament builds. But, that’s not what this article is about. My goal is to help navigate you through this interesting card and find some solid fighters to begin your cash game construction with.
For you 1st time readers, welcome and I hope you enjoy the article. For all you regular readers, you will notice a change. Moving forward I am going to gear this article for cash games. But a major point we make here at DFS Army is proper bankroll management. A major part of that is, of course, cash games. It may not be the sexiest way to build your bankroll but, over time it can be the most consistent. MMA Cash Game Basics for DFS
In cash games, unlike tournaments, we are trying to build a solid floor with our lineups. Many times that may mean using a fighter with great odds to win a match or taking someone who is severely mispriced in a solid spot. Cash games are often times card dependent. For example, if a fighter is expected to be chalky in cash games and I feel they are in a good spot I have no problem eating the chalk and just rostering him. After all, he’s chalky for a solid reason. One major difference between cash and tournament play is getting past your aversion to play the chalk. Often times, the chalk makes a lot of sense. (I’m going to use the word “chalk” a lot, if new, chalk is slang for “popular player.”) If, you ever have any questions pertaining to cash games feel free to reach out to me on Twitter or if you are a VIP shoot me a dm.
DFS MMA UFC 246 Cash Core Plays
Conor McGregor (-340) 9.4k
McGregor is more than likely going to be 1 of the most if not the highest owned fighter in cash games period. He looks to be in great shape and appears to be extremely focused for this fight. This fight carries a (-675) fight ends Inside The Distance (ITD) prop and Conor is the likely winner in this scenario (-245 to win ITD). He lands at a high rate of (5.75 SS’s per minute) and has shown in the past to have 1 punch KO power. His opponent has been KO’d in his last 2 fights which, leads me to believe he has a deteriorating chin and it could only take 1 punch from McGregor to end this fight. I think Conor is a great cash game play and is someone I am personally locking into my cash game builds.
Maycee Barber (-900) 9.5k
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see why Barber makes for a solid cash game play when you look at her odds to win. Throw in the fact that this fight carries a (-260 Fight ends ITD prop) and Barber carrying a prop of (-237 to win ITD) and it looks even better. I am going to jam in both Barber (and Conor who I mentioned above) into my cash game builds. Barber honestly should destroy her opponent in this match and she is close to a lock for me to win this in rather quick fashion. No need to overthink here, just lock her in your cash builds and move on!
Tim Elliott (+125) 7.5k
In order to fit the higher priced favorites on this card you are going to have to punt with an underdog or 2 on this card. Elliott is my favorite cash punt on this card. Vegas is expecting this fight to go to decision (-130), which means we should get 3 rounds of action. Elliott is a decent striker (3.41 SS’s per minute) and he is a solid grappler (4.26 TD’s per fight). While he may not win this fight, I see no reason for him not to score 40-60 points in a loss and I will take that in cash games at his salary.
Sure, these are MY favorite cash game plays, but maybe you play GPPs or like others. That’s fine…..you need tools, though. Fight To Target In Hybrids/Tournaments
Now that we covered some cash plays. Let’s breakdown 1 fight I really think you should get exposure to in your hybrid and tournament lineups.
Maurice Greene (-130) 8.4k vs Aleksei Oleinik (+110) 7.8k
This fight carries a massive -800 Fight Ends ITD prop. At both their salaries the winner of this fight should on the optimal lineup and both are worth taking some stabs at in your tournament builds. I will personally have very heavy exposure to this fight in tournaments. My lean is with Oleinik only because he is cheaper. Overall this will be a great fight to watch as well as GPP fight to target on Draftkings.
