Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article, where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In DFS we define the Free Square as a player to build your lineups around. Generally, this player represents the closest we can find to a sure thing for the slate.
This column is all about trying to identify the free square for a particular slate. Often times, this will be a low-cost player who is thrust into a starting role and sure to make or exceed value. The type of player that allows us to load up the rest of our lineup with high salary studs. Occasionally it will be a high priced stud in a great spot. Each slate we will take a look at three or four players which represent great value on the day’s slate of games and choose the one which best represents the top value and floor play to earn the title of the slates Free Square
My NBA Free Squares for Today 🇺🇸 December 6th 🇺🇸
This is a tough slate because a lot of these plays are speculative at the moment. We don’t really have any official injury news yet so I’m giving my best guess here on some of these.
🇺🇸 Ish Smith $3,600 / $4,300
With news that Isaiah Thomas will be out tonight, we get a chance for some great value in Ish Smith. He’s priced at only 3.6k on DK while a little more pricey at 4.3k on Fanduel tonight. He played 34 minutes last night and scored 33.25 DK Points. He will be mega chalk across the industry so just lock him into your cash games and move on. On Fanduel there are at least players within his price range we can pivot to in GPP’s, but, on Draftkings it will be very difficult to get off him unless you force yourself to be different.
🇺🇸 Rui Hachimura $5,700 / $5,800
He’s been playing monster minutes recently and with Thomas Bryant sidelined for awhile I don’t see his minutes coming down any time soon. In his last 3 games he has played 42, 38 and 38 minutes, and in those games he has scored 39.25, 28 and 48.75 fantasy points. I’ll be loading up on him again tonight for an affordable price tag on both sites.

Kings
The Kings are listing Bogdan Bogdanovic and Cory Joseph as questionable tonight. If they are both out we’ll be able to pluck some value from their roster in Trevor Ariza and Yogi Ferrell. Ariza played big minutes the other day vs the Blazers and scored 26 fantasy points. He’s only priced at 3.3k on DK and only 3.9k on Fanduel.
Another King that could get serious minutes in this situation would be Yogi Ferrell. He has scored 20+ fantasy points in back to back games in under 20 minutes each game. He could push 30+ minutes tonight if this situation plays out to keep an eye on the DFS Army NBA Breaking News Channel as we get closer to lock.
WHAT IF? 🤔🤔🤔
Karl Anthony Towns and Jeff Teague are being listed as questionable for tonight’s game. If Towns is ruled out, Gorgui Dieng is going to be an ELITE value on every site. He is priced at 3.3k on Draftkings and 3.5k on Fanduel tonight and would play 25-30 minutes without Towns.
