Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article, where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In DFS we define the Free Square as a player to build your lineups around. Generally, this player represents the closest we can find to a sure thing for the slate.
This column is all about trying to identify the free square for a particular slate. Often times, this will be a low-cost player who is thrust into a starting role and sure to make or exceed value. The type of player that allows us to load up the rest of our lineup with high salary studs. Occasionally it will be a high priced stud in a great spot. Each slate we will take a look at three or four players which represent great value on the day’s slate of games and choose the one which best represents the top value and floor play to earn the title of the slates Free Square
My NBA Free Squares for Today November 8th
Today we get a huge 11 game Friday slate. Currently, the highest implied team totals belong to the T’Wolves (121), the Blazers (120.25) and the Wizards (118.5). While the three lowest totals belong to the Grizzlies (100.25), the Pistons (210.5) and the Knicks (215.5).

🎃 Raul Neto $3,400 / $3,700
Ben Simmons is out tonight so Raul Neto is going to start at point guard and likely play close to 30 minutes at near min price. He played 30 minutes last game against Utah, he took 11 shots, scoring 11 points, dished out 4 assists, grabbed 3 rebounds and had 3 steals on his way to 25.25 fantasy points. Neto is a great salary saver today and should be the top Value play in everyone’s model today.
PIVOT – Michael Carter Williams – He will surely be lower owned than Neto on both sites.
I expect Josh Richardson to handle the ball a little more as well with Simmons out so I’m going to make sure I have plenty of him in my lineups. He’s not quite a “Free Square” but he will get a significant bump tonight without Simmons.
🎃 Jarrett Culver $5,000 / $3,800
Jeff Teague is out tonight and Shabazz Napier is doubtful, so Jarrett Culver is going to start at point guard again for the T’Wolves. He played 30 minutes last game and scored 32.75 fantasy points. He’s is a tremendous play on Fanduel where he is only $3,800 but his Draftkings price of $5,000 is a little tougher for me. I’ll have most of my exposure on Fanduel for sure, but, he’s a solid value on both sites against the Warriors.

🎃 Jarrett Allen $5,000 / $5,200
DeAndre Jordan is out tonight for the Nets so Jarrett Allen is going to have the paint all to himself against the Blazers. Allen played 30 minutes last game and scored 34 fantasy points. The Nets have a 116.75 team total today which is the 5th highest on the slate vs the Blazers. With the extra run I expect Allen to pay off his salary rather easily in this matchup.
