Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article, where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In DFS we define the Free Square as a player to build your lineups around. Generally, this player represents the closest we can find to a sure thing for the slate.
This column is all about trying to identify the free square for a particular slate. Often times, this will be a low-cost player who is thrust into a starting role and sure to make or exceed value. The type of player that allows us to load up the rest of our lineup with high salary studs. Occasionally it will be a high priced stud in a great spot. Each slate we will take a look at three or four players which represent great value on the day’s slate of games and choose the one which best represents the top value and floor play to earn the title of the slates Free Square
My NBA Free Squares for Today 🇺🇸 November 20th 🇺🇸
Today we get big 11 game Wednesday slate. Currently, the highest implied team totals belong to the Bucks (120.75), the Spurs (119.75) and the Wizards (117.75). While the three lowest totals belong to the Knicks (100.5), the Magic (102) and the Cavs (102).

🇺🇸 Spencer Dinwidde $7,200 / $7,300
His price has risen but his opportunity has risen along with it in tonight’s matchup with the Hornets. Caris Levert and Kyrie Irving will be out for the Nets and with those two players off the floor, Dinwiddie has a 38% usage rate and scores around 1.25 fantasy points per minute. On Fanduel Dinwiddie is listed as a Shooting Guard so we have a unique opportunity to roster three Point Guards today since that’s where he’ll play tonight. Even with an increased price tag he’s one of my favorite targets on tonight’s slate.
🇺🇸 Luka Doncic $10,400 / $11,500
He’s not “free” by any means, and this is a Draftkings specific play for me here tonight because of his price. Despite having a $10,400 price tag he ranks as one of the best point per dollar plays on the slate in my own personal model. I’ve got him projected for just over 60 fantasy points in this one and that puts him in the 6x value range for me. The Hornets allow 4% more fantasy points to point guards than the league average so this should be a spot where Luka can do some damage tonight. His last 5 games have been pretty remarkable as he has scored 78.3 – 57.8 – 74.5 – 56 – 59 fantasy points. Look for another 60+ from Luka tonight.

Spurs
Derrick White is out tonight for the Spurs so their value point guards should be able to get some extra run. Patty Mills and Bryn Forbes could give us some salary relief on a slate that doesn’t have much of it honestly. DeJounte Murray still has a minutes cap so we can’t count on him for much more than 24 minutes. I would rank Forbes just slightly ahead of Mills, only because his minutes are a little more secure around 30 per game. They both have some appeal in GPPs for me, and we’ve seen them both flash big upside in the past. Mills may be more popular because of his price, only $4.0k on Dk and 3.6k on FD
Kendrick Nunn $6,100 / $5,800
Justise Winslow and Derrick Jones Jr are out tonight for the Heat so Kendrick Nunn should be locked into some big minutes here vs the Cavs. The last 3 games he has played 39, 37 and 36 minutes against the Pelicans, Cavs, and Pistons. His best game in that stretch came against the Cavs where he dropped 23 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals on his way to 45 fantasy points. The Cavs are one of the worst defenses in the league again this year, and with the extra minutes Nunn has been locked into this is a really solid spot for him tonight. He’s not dirt cheap like he was earlier this year but I still like him here in this matchup.

Giannis Antetokounmpo leads the slate today with a 30.0 AND1 Rating in his matchups against the Hawks. We don’t see AND1 Ratings hit the 30 mark very often so we need to jump on this when we see it.
