Race Info

For the race this week the Cup Series heads to Texas Motor Speedway. The teams will be utilizing the 2019 rules package with high downforce, low horsepower that was run in the spring. In the Spring race we did see teams have the ability to use the draft to make some passes that they weren’t able to make in the past here. Of course this was all the way back in March and teams have made massive gains over where they were back then. The weather should also play an interesting factor as temps are expected to be in 50s all weekend. We have seen more passing with this rules package under cooler temps so far in 2019. In an effort to also increase passing NASCAR and TMS have added the traction compound to all four turns. Obviously, passing will be a hot topic for this race. Long runs will be incredibly important as we see very few cautions here. As always you can get track history and all practice speed info inside our Research Station.

Inspection at Texas: Cars will be impounded after qualifying at Texas on Saturday. The starting lineup is official at the conclusion of qualifying.

The DFS Army destroyed DFS in October with double digits 1st place wins $5,000+. This is simply down to the unbelievable content provided by our top flight coaches and research tools. Come join the winning culture with access to elite content for EVERY DFS sport.

Dominator / Top Tier

The Spring race which was the first here under new rules package saw numerous leaders but no true dominators. After a full year using this package I believe teams have made lots of improvements and certain teams to have separated themselves from everyone else. The team who have done that the best is Joe Gibbs Racing who went from a team who ran 10th-20th on 1.5 mile tracks early on to crushing the field the last few races on this track type. That being said I expect to see a more standard 2 dominator race with a chance of 3 doms if pit strategy shakes things up.  Martin Truex has to be the clear favorite heading into this week. He has had the fastest car in ALL FIVE standard oval race since the start of the playoffs. Of course, JGR teammates Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin should be top contenders as well. Hendrick Motorsports teams have been fantastic on the intermediate 1.5 mile tracks this year so if we are looking for a surprise winner I believe it could come from that group. Also, we can not ignore the fact that Kevin Harvick has won this race in the last two years and has been the biggest threat to the JGR teams all year.

Mid to Low Tier

This area always offers fantastic opportunities under this rules package. So many teams are able to compete for top 10s and offer some great place differential in the process. I full expect to see the downforce game being played this week with some teams trimming the cars out for short run speed and others adding extra downforce for more stability and long run speed. Byron and Bowman are probably two of the best plays with numerous top 10s on this style of track this year. There is also great value in guys like Erik Jones and Aric Almirola this week.

The DFS Army members are crushing every sport due to our awesome coaches, Domination Station and Research Station. If you aren’t a member yet now is the time to join!! Punts

This is going to be a difficult week for most drivers under the $5,500 price point. There are so few DNFs and these low end teams will struggle to even stay in touch with the lower tier teams. Likely smart to avoid punts and look for more value in the mid to lower tier to pair with the elite top tier doms.

I will be giving my Fanduel Top Plays in a VIP article prior to the race.

I will also answer any questions you may have in the VIP Slack!
