Welcome again fellow fight fans to a Saturday night of UFC action. This time we have a 13-fight card taking place in Moscow, Russia. There are several very close matches on this card which will make for some interesting choices in your tournament builds. But, that’s not what this article is about. My goal is to help navigate you through this interesting card and find some solid fighters to begin your cash game construction with.
For you 1st time readers, welcome and I hope you enjoy the article. For all you regular readers, you will notice a change. Moving forward I am going to gear this article for cash games. But a major point we make here at DFS Army is proper bankroll management. A major part of that is, of course, cash games. It may not be the sexiest way to build your bankroll but, over time it can be the most consistent. I am a firm believer in the 80-20 rule. Which is 80% of your allocated bankroll for the night in cash games and 20% in tournaments. MMA Cash Game Basics for DFS
In cash games, unlike tournaments, we are trying to build a solid floor with our lineups. Many times that may mean using a fighter with great odds to win a match or taking someone who is severely mispriced in a solid spot. Cash games are often times card dependent. For example, if a fighter is expected to be chalky in cash games and I feel they are in a good spot I have no problem eating the chalk and just rostering him. After all, he’s chalky for a solid reason. One major difference between cash and tournament play is getting past your aversion to play the chalk. Often times, the chalk makes a lot of sense. (I’m going to use the word “chalk” a lot, if new, chalk is slang for “popular player.”) If, you ever have any questions pertaining to cash games feel free to reach out to me on Twitter or if you are a VIP shoot me a dm.
DFS MMA UFC On ESPN+ 21 Cash Core Plays
Alexander Volkov (-270) 9.2k
Volkov is a very high output striker (6.28 Significant Strikers per minute) and a decent grappler (1.2 Takedowns per fight). The big thing I like about this match-up is his opponent. I am not impressed with what Hardy has shown me in his UFC career and Volkov is by far the superior. On a card with so many uncertainties I think Volkov makes for a solid cash game play.
Zabit Magomedsharipov (-175) 9.1k
Zabit is a relentless grappler and he has the ability to rack up draftkings points in a hurry. He lands a ridiculous (6.23 TD’s per fight) and is a solid striker as well (4.53 SS’s per minute). With Vegas picking this fight to go to decision (-175). I see no reason Zabit doesn’t score 100+ DK points in a win and he has a safe floor even in a decision loss. I am personally locking him into my cash game builds and highly suggest you consider doing the same.
Dalcha Lungiambula (+355) 6.8k
When constructing your cash lineups you are going to find that you will need to target an underdog in your lineups. Now, they don’t need to necessarily win the fight to be considered a solid play. All we are looking for is a decent floor here in a loss. Let me point you in the direction of Dalcha. The line in this fight seams off to me. His opponent hasn’t been very impressive, while Dalcha looked great in his UFC debut. This is one of those scenarios where I will take a chance on the dog to open up more salary in my cash lineup. For that reason I think he makes a good punt.
Sure, these are MY favorite cash game plays, but maybe you play GPPs or like others. That’s fine…..you need tools, though. Fight To Target In Hybrids/Tournaments
Now that we covered some cash plays. Let’s breakdown 1 fight I really think you should get exposure to in your hybrid and tournament lineups.
Khadis Ibragimov (-140) 8.7k vs Ed Herman (+120) 7.5k
This fight carries a -325 Fight Ends ITD prop. This fight screams all-in exposure to me in tournaments. I think it’s a good idea to get exposure to both because the winner has a strong chance to be on the optimal lineup. My lean is with the younger more athletic fight in Ibragimov.
