Zadelstein’s Friday Night College Football Breakdown (October 4)

QB

Dillon Gabriel (DK $7,500/FD $10,000)

Gabriel has had a great start to his UCF career averaging over 20 fantasy points a game and not having less than 15.  He is going up against a great Cinci defense though that has not given up more than 10 fantasy points to any QB outside of Justin Fields.  I think Gabriel could be in for a good day as UCF thrives on big plays but I don’t think this will be as big of a day as normal against AAC opponents.  On a 2 game slate though he is great in all formats.

Josh Love (DK $6,900/FD $8,700)

New Mexico has given up at least 300 passing yards to every FBS school they have faced.  Love is not the most consistent QB but this is by far the worst pass defense he has faced all season.  He should be able to move the ball at ease and have a similar performance to the 20+ fantasy point game at Arkansas a few weeks ago.

RB

Michael Warren II (DK $7,300/FD $9,700)

Warren was the only capable RB on Cincinnati last year and was the bell cow but with the emergence of Tavion Thomas, Warren’s runs have been cut in half.  That being said, he is capable of putting up huge numbers and is a very talented back.  This is a game for Cinci where all hands will be on deck and I wouldn’t be surprised if Warren got a few more carries than his 11.5 average over the last 3 games.  At his price, he will be GPP only for me.

Greg McCrae (DK $5,700/FD $8,200)

McCrae is the lead back for UCF in an RBBC yet has a lower price than fellow back Killins.  While Cinci has been good against the run, RBs have gotten nice points against the Bearcats in the passing game.  This is a slate that does not have a ton of great places for RBs but I think McCrae could see a few targets as well as get his normal 12-14 runs.  If he can punch in a TD or 2 he will be a great value play!

WR

Tre Walker (DK $6,700/FD $9,200)

Walker has been back just 2 games and he already has 31 targets and 230 receiving yards.  He has yet to see the end zone which will just add to his value.  This New Mexico team is giving up over 40 fantasy points to opposing WRs which should make for a great situation for all SJSU receivers.  I love Walker to have a huge game.

Alec Pierce (DK $6,100/FD $7,700)

Pierce is the big play receiver for Cinci and he could have to have a big game against the high flying UCF team.  He has 3 receptions over 45 yards on the season and is averaging 5 targets a game over the last 3 games.  He could see that number increase as UCF has the ability to put points on the board quick and I love using Pierce as a stack with the UCF offense.  He is GPP for me with his boom or bust potential but he is a great option on this 2 game slate.
