UW81 here. I’m a contributor over at DFS Army with a focus on playing on Draft. Give me a follow on Twitter to catch the latest news on Draft for MLB, PGA, and NFL.  As always, your best compliment is retweeting and/or sharing this information across social media.  Thank you!

This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.

Sorry for the 4-week break. Our VIPs got the notes but traveling and writing can be a bit too time-consuming.

Quick Trends (50 game sample)

  • This is the average ADP of all players drafted over the course of 50 3-man contests. 28 players were drafted this week.
  • Mahomes was the highest QB to be drafted with an ave ADP of 5.6, but squarely in the 4th position meaning on ave. he went on the turn in rd 2.
    • His two main pass catchers however fell considerably to an ADP of 9.7 and 10.71 giving more cadence he’s going to be the highest scoring QB on the slate, but not necessarily correlated with his targets.
  • The drama around Julio Jones dropped him to an ADP of 8 making him a great early rd 2 grab if you’re confident he plays.

6th place finish in the milly by our member Adrocks!

Exposure trends

  • 5 players we’re owned 100% of all 50 drafts: Barkley, CMC, Elliot, Kelce, and Mahomes.
  • With Winston being drafted in ~ 90% of drafts, it leave the QB position the chalkiest spot this week.
    • This is a great position to pivot to another QB this week to get some differentiation in your line ups versus the field.

Draft Projections & Rankings

The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in-house at DFS Army where to take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our research station, and coaching notes, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Player Fades for Week 1

Chris Godwin: While he’s very viable in DFS this week on DraftKings, Fan Duel, and Fantasy Draft, there’s no reason to go to a WR2 on Draft when there are better candidates available this week including three tight ends. Godwin had an ave ADP of  12.25 meaning he was a last pickup for someone generally. Pivots include: Zach Ertz, Tyler Boyd, and Tyler Lockett.

David Johnson: Draft is generally a chalk fest for a reason; there are no salaries. David Johnson is a high variance GPP play this week with nearly no floor, but a very high ceiling. I prefer taking a stab at a lower owned quarterback this week and locking in production at running back. Alternatives include Nick Chubb who on ave was 30% owned and had a lower ADP versus DJ.
