DFS Madness’s Draftkings MLB Core 4 – Sep. 25th, 2019

Welcome to the Core 4! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article throughout the day as news breaks and lineups come out. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Purpose of the Core 4: These four players are guys that I want to get high exposure to in my cash game lineups and if doing multi-entry, using the Domination Station to either lock them in or set high exposure percentages to them. These are players that I see as underpriced, in great matchups, good conditions, or simply just have a hunch. I also need to mention that these plays are normally geared toward Draftkings pricing and scoring, however, the stats and reasoning behind liking them stay true no matter the site. Be sure to compare this article with the players mentioned on our Coaches Notes/Player Picks every night to get a sense of where you stand and to get multiple coach’s outlooks on the slate. With that said, let’s jump in!

While you’re here, go check out all the NFL strategy we have at DFSArmy, which has you covered for all of your NFL fantasy needs. BobbyWow1 took home $1,000,000 last weekend, go check out his interview here!

CORE 4:

Shane Bieber (SP) – $11,800

At this point in the season, I want to target pitchers on teams that have something to play for and the Indians certainly do as they fight it out with the Tampa Rays for the final AL Wild Card spot. That said, the Indians will let Bieber go as long as he possibly can here, as he is probably the best pitching option on the team. He gets a matchup with the Chicago White Sox who have an implied run total of 3.5 runs in Chicago. The wind looks like it will be blowing out here which isn’t ideal, but it’s not as massive of a factor as it is in Wrigley. Bieber has been lights out this season with a 3.24 era and a an elite 30.3% strikeout rate. The White Sox are no strangers to strikeouts either as they are striking out at a 25.6% rate on the season. He’s also in good form as he is averaging 24.4 Draftkings points per game over his last ten games. Finally, he will likely come at lower ownership to deGrom here as he is just $200 cheaper and deGrom gets the Marlins. deGrom has a great matchup as well, but I like Bieber’s upside at lower ownership at slight savings. Nilly’s Carnage Report isn’t out at the time I’m writing this, but be sure to give it a look and check out where he ranks!

J.D. Martinez (OF) – $5,000

We went pretty expensive with our SP1 with Bieber so I hate to go super expensive here but this is too good of a spot to pass up, we’ll find the savings elsewhere. Martinez and the Red Sox travel to Texas and have an implied run total of 6.7 against Kolby Allard. Run totals are normally high in Texas because of the heat making the ball fly, which works to the advantage of Martinez. He has absolutely crushed lefties this season and is probably the best hitter in baseball against left-handed pitching with a .884 slugging percentage, .562 wOBA, and a .493 ISO. Not only this but Allard has been terrible at home this season scoring just 4.3 Draftkings points per game at home. This is a great spot to attack JD, don’t overthink this.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (3B) – $4,000

Alright, so Vlad didn’t quite work out last night, but he was the only guy that really dudded last night so we’re going to go right back to the well. This is actually an even better spot than he was in last night. He draws a matchup against Gabriel Ynoa and this Baltimore bullpen that has a 4.78 era. The thing I love about this matchup is the home run potential here. Ynoa is known for being susceptible to the long ball in his career. He is giving up an insane 2.28 HR/9 to opposing hitters this season and this is one of the best ballparks for home runs in the majors which comes as a surprise to most people. Toronto ranks as the second in the league in home runs this season with 1.29 per game. If that wasn’t enough for you, Vlad has some heavy reverse splits on the season. Against righties, he has a .481 slugging percentage, .361 wOBA, and a .184 ISO. This feels like a very sneaky spot that I think we can get an edge on this slate with a value guy like Vlad Jr.

I’m going to continue to drive home the coaches notes/player picks here, these are something you need to look at before submitting your lineups! Often times we don’t have enough time to write big long write-ups on every single player on our coaching sheets, but trust me the research is there behind every pick! The Coaches Notes have a little bit of everything no matter what type of player you are. They have Draftkings notes, FanDuel notes, Showdown slate notes, and CashKeg’s Main Slate cash notes (see results below). Take these and compare them to the rest of the tools we offer on the site and you have already strengthened your chances of doing something like bobbywow did here when he won $50,000.

Brad Miller (2B/3B) – $3,300

Alright, so we spent a good amount of money with our pitcher and the first two bats of the core, so let’s go all the way down to Brad Miller here. Miller should hit in the middle of this Phillies lineup that has an implied run total of 4.5 runs against Anibal Sanchez. Miller is smoking hot at the moment going for two home runs and 32 Draftkings points against Max Scherzer last night and has hit right-handed pitching well all season long. Against righties this season he has a .513 slugging percentage, .347 wOBA, and a .269 ISO. The cherry on the top with Miller is that he has multi-position eligibility, so if you’re making a ton of lineups with both Miller and Guerrero Jr. with high exposure, it won’t cause for many issues. The value is great here for Brad Miller to round out the core.

Simple Coaching = Simple Results

Our coaches build their sheets with their own “Core” plays in them (blue in color).  You can use these to form your own foundations, or as a consensus across coaches to solidify your own thoughts.  However, I definitely recommend upgrading to a Full VIP member so you can access our coaching discussions in rooms like, #cash-keg-allsports where our coaches explain when and why they change some of their thoughts based on late lineup confirmations.  These pivots dramatically increase your edge as a player!

As always I appreciate everyone who gave the article a read! Feel free to mix it up with me in our coaching forums as news breaks and lock approaches. Let’s win some cash, whaddya say?!
