Race Notes

This week the Xfinity Series makes it’s way to Bristol Motor Speedway. Bristol is an ultra high banked, fast half mile track with tight racing action. This race has the most laps of any other throughout the year which means tons of dominator points are available.  This race can have long green flag runs with the leader running into laps traffic after just 10-15 laps. Nobody is safe including the leaders and things happen in an instant. The outside lane is a massive advantage here especially on restarts. Due to this NASCAR applies the PJ1 traction compound to the bottom groove. There are 42 cars on the entry list which means 4 cars will not qualify for the race. Make sure to pay attention to who the DNQ’s are so you don’t have any in your lineups.

As always the DFS Army Research Station will be available and the Domination Station will be available AFTER starting lineups are set.

The DFS Army will be bringing you tons of NASCAR coverage this weekend and throughout the rest of the year!! VIP members get elite coverage not just for NASCAR but for every sport. Be sure to check out all the NASCAR Cup Series VIP articles available on a weekly basis!!

Lineup Building

Dominator / Top Tier

For the most part we typically see one major dominator here leading over half the race. This driver is normally named Kyle (either Larson or Busch). Outside of the main dominator we tend to see either one or two additional doms that lead around 50-100 laps. With the leaders getting trapped dealing with lap traffic early and often the fast laps end up getting spread around the top few cars more than normal. Of course the most obvious threat to dominate will be Kyle Busch who is back in the #18 this week. Joey Logano is returning to the #12 is definitely a strong contender to compete for the win and Kyle as the main dom. Other potential doms are Christopher Bell and Justin Allgaier both of which have led a bunch of laps over the last couple years. Lastly, Erik Jones will be driving the #81 for XCI Racing. XCI is affiliated if Joe Gibbs but has only ran a couple of races. Jones is fantastic here and if the car is right can certainly have a strong showing.

Mid Tier

Due to the addition of guys like Busch, Logano and Jones other drivers have dropped a bit in price giving them great value. Chase Briscoe who has 16 top 10s in 21 races this year including a 4th in the spring Bristol race cost $8,000. Noah Gragson cost $8,200 and a returning Jeb Burton to the #8 will cost $7,800. Drivers like Gaulding, Brandon Brown and Clements all come in under $7,000 and offer great value. Of course you will look for the drivers who offer both place differential upside but can also score solid top 15 or even top 10 finishes.

Low Tier/Punts

There are tons of DNFs here based off recent history which gives solid potential to almost everyone in the field. Drivers who may start deep in the field can work their way up to 30+ points simply through attrition. Joe Graf is in the #21 for RCR this week and Landon Cassill is in the #4 for JDM. Both come in under $6,000 and can offer top 15 upside. Ronnie Bassett is back in the #90 and Mason Diaz is driving the #68 for Brandon Browns team. There are plenty of good plays throughout the field this week. For more info on every driver check out the VIP article called The Inside Line: Xfinity Series for this weeks race.

I will also answer any questions you may have in the VIP Slack!
