MLB Top Stacks for Fanduel and Draftkings August 16th

Welcome back, everyone! This MLB Top Stacks article will be a daily Article here at DFS Army, where I will do my best to highlight my top offenses to target each day for Fanduel and Draftkings. In the list below the MLB Top Stacks, I will also list my Top5 at each position to give you more ideas on how to construct stacks today.

If you have any questions hit me up in the DFS Army VIP chat shoot me a DM @CeeGee and we can chat one-on-one about your process.

I appreciate you taking time out of your day to check out the article 🤟❤💯

I use this sheet daily to help me identify top stacks on each slate

I’ve included the RAW number to show you the number that is being Ranked. This is the resulting number from my formula each day and should help illustrate exactly how much separation there is from team to team on the list. Some days there are very clear teams ranked in the Top 1 or 2. Other days they are grouped much tighter.

I’ve added a new Leverage Column, which is simply the Projection (minus) the Ownership. In theory, this should help us see who we can target at lower ownership and gain leverage on the field.

** NOTE **

Some of this will likely update later in the day when lineups are confirmed.

I will make edits and post them in our DFS Army VIP chat so make sure you get signed up so you have access to all of the latest info before lock.

Let’s see how the rankings shake out below and let’s figure out where we can gain our edge today.

Red Sox

  • Aaron Brooks has been awful this year and he enters tonight’s game with a 5.26 xFIP on the season. Against lefties, he gives up a 380/284 woba/iso along with a 36% fly-ball rate and 42% hard contact rate. His numbers vs righties are equally bad, allowing a 373/258 woba/iso to go along with a 43% fly-ball rate and 38% hard contact rate. Everything sets up here for the Red Sox to go off in Baltimore.
  • In GPPs I’m usually underweight on the most obvious top stacks of the night and tonight will be no different for me. Honestly, there really is no reason NOT to play the Red Sox tonight other than to be different in GPPs. On a 15 game slate, they’ll be high owned and there are some really good teams in good spots that are going to be overlooked because of the obvious elite spot the Red Sox are in.

Rockies

  • Alcantara enters tonight’s game with a 5.79 xFIP and a very low 16.85 k rate. Against lefties, he allows a 342/172 woba/iso along with a 37% fly-ball rate and 36% hard contact rate. When facing righties he’s about the same, allowing a 336/163  woba/iso with a 35% fly ball rate and 35% hard contact rate. Alcantara is not in a position to succeed tonight in Coors. He doesn’t miss many bats at all and he gives up too many fly balls and too much hard contact to have success here.
  • In GPP’s I’m always underweight to Coors (see Red Sox above)

The MLB Research Station is my #1 source for research every single day and is one of the VIP Only tools our members have access to daily. Everything from wOBA and ISO vs the Handedness of today’s starting pitcher, to Average Exit Velocity this tool will cut your daily research time in half. If you’re familiar with Myself and Ben you already know the time we’ve put into the “Sheets” and we’re extremely happy to bring them over here to the DFS Army!

Mets

  • Mike Montgomery has a small sample this season, but, he’s been pretty bad in that small sample. Against lefties, he has allowed a 557/362 woba/iso and a 49% hard contact rate. His numbers vs righties are a little better but not great, as he allows a 329/182 woba/iso and a 38% hard contact rate. The Mets went off last night and I’m going to keep riding them here in a great matchup.

Top Leverage Stacks

Cubs

  • I currently have the Cubs as my 7th highest projected team but my 17th highest owned team. That gives them the #1 leverage ranking for today’s huge 15 game slate. Yesterday, the #1 leverage team was the Indians and they dropped 19 runs, so let’s hope this is a good sign of things to come
  • Joe Musgrove allows a 360/227 woba/iso along with a 39% hard contact rate to left-handed hitters this season. Against righties, he allows a 311/177 woba/iso and a 41% fly-ball rate and a 39% hard contact rate. At very low ownership against a somewhat popular pitcher in Musgrove this is a really solid spot to get big-time upside and leverage vs the field today.

Batter Rankings 08/16

These rankings are not site-specific and are intended to give you a solid pool of players to build your lineups from. I’m going to use the standard positions, Catcher through Outfield in these rankings so be aware of that if you’re constructing teams on Draftkings where some players can play multiple positions.

I will use the 😍 ADORE feature in the MLB Domination Station to increase the projection of each of these players by 15%. Doing this will allow me to get MORE of them throughout all of my lineups.
