Race Notes

Iowa Speedway is a 7/8th of a mile short track with speedway characteristics. It has multiple grooves which allows for consistent side by side action. Passing is still difficult however as the drivers on the top are able to prevent fast cars from completing the pass by using the momentum of the top lane. This makes for some really exciting battles all over the track especially on restarts. We typically see long green flag runs with the leader rattling off many laps led due to the passing difficulty. Long Run speed will be important and the cars who are good over a 50 lap run will most likely move their way into the top 10. This is the second Iowa race of the year so there is plenty of info to be had from our Xfinity Series Research Station for this race.

Check out our VIP article called The Inside Line: Xfinity Series featuring Driver/Team notes, news, as well as stats and my own personal viewpoints for every driver involved in the Xfinity Series race. This article will be available to DFS Army VIP members for every Xfinity race.

Lineup Building

Dominator / Top Tier

Plenty of laps this week. Most lineups should look for 2 doms and 1 stud. We see ultra long green flag runs especially early so don’t be afraid to play the pole sitter as an early dominator. Last Year in the two Iowa races the pole sitter led 58 laps and 41 laps respectively before falling deeper into the top 10 by race end. Christopher Bell and Justin Allgaier have absolutely dominated this track the last five races and I expect that to continue. Bell absolutely obliterated the field here earlier this year so he will be the obvious first choice for everyone.

Mid to Low Tier

With most the dominator potential coming from the highest price guys finding good mid tier plays will be important. As always when trying to find the best value position differential is ultra important. Be sure to check out practice and qualifying info in the Research Station to find the best plays. Drivers like Riley Herbst, Zane Smith and Brandon Jones are guys who can offer great value from this range. Drivers like Gaulding, Brown and Clements continue to deliver solid performances week after week and have made for great plays under $8,000.

The level of domination the DFSArmy has experienced this year in NASCAR has been unbelievable. Jump into the VIP Slack for great insight from ALL the NASCAR coaches.  If you aren’t already a part of  the winning culture then sign up to become a VIP Member and use code Xfinity to save 20%!!

Punts

As with most weeks there are a few drivers under $6500 who offer top 20 potential and end up scoring 30+ points. This week is no different. Based on the entry list there are a couple more drivers than normal to are potential start and park teams so that will be something to pay close attention to throughout the weekend. With the expectation being most lineups needing 2-3 top tier drivers this area will be a must play.
