WNBA FULL COURT PRESS

Los Angeles Sparks @ Connecticut Sun

We get another early rematch this season. With Candace Parker still out, the Ogwumike sisters will continue to lead this team. Both have excellent matchups and upside here. Nneka probably has higher upside in terms of raw fantasy point, but Chiney is arguably the better overall play when you factor in salary and narrative. You can play them together as well. The guard defense of the Sun is great, but Chelsea Gray is a phenomenal player and she can shred any defense when she is on her game. She’ll continue playing around 33 MPG here, making her a top guard option tonight. With the Sparks limited in the frontcourt, Tierra Ruffin-Pratt has averaged 21 MPG this seen and has seen her production rise steadily. She’s in line for similar work today and makes for a good option. Alana Beard remains out, opening the door for Sydney Wiese and Riquna Williams to pick up minutes. Wiese will play around 25 minutes, but she hasn’t done anything with them so far this season. Williams minutes are more inconsistent, but she can heat up in this matchup.

Jonquel Jones is becoming the soul of this Sun team and has dominated so far in this campaign. She’s in place to dominate the Sparks for a second time this season. Alyssa Thomas continues to have a rocky season so far. It’s hard to say how she’ll perform one game to another so far, but she is extremely talented and is always in the mix when the Sun take the court. On the guard front, Courtney Williams finally came to play last time out and she’ll look to keep her form here. Jasmine Thomas on the other hand still hasn’t found her groove. That said, her best game in this young season was against the Sparks. The remaining choices on this Sun team are too inconsistent to write about, with possibly Shekinna Stricklen and Layshia Clarendon being the next best options.

5-star play: Nneka Ogwumike, Chiney Ogwumike, Jonquel Jones

4-star play: Chelsea Gray, Alyssa Thomas, Courtney Williams, Jasmine Thomas

Deep Value: Tierra Ruffin-Pratt

GPP Sleeper: Riquna Williams

Las Vegas Aces @ Atlanta Dream

It begins with Liz Cambage. If she is cleared to play 25+ minutes, she is the top play on this slate, period. The Dream just don’t have the size to stop Cambage if she is a full go. Beyond Cambage, A’ja Wilson and Kayla McBride are the next options for the Aces. Wilson is averaging 36 FPPG in 32 MPG on the season, while McBride is averaging 28 MPG. Both have the necessary upside to pay off their salary here, especially if Cambage is still limited. The only other player who stands put on this Aces team tonight is Dearica Hamby, and only if Cambage is limited to around 15-20 minutes. Apart from these players, the Aces spread out the minutes across their entire roster, limiting the individual impact the other players can have.

For the Dream, they’ll have to rely on Jessica Breland tonight. They’ll need her to stay out of foul trouble for them to have a chance here tonight. Breland gets a good matchup against Wilson here, if she keeps her hands to herself. Brittney Sykes is another player with a great matchup. She has been the best guard for the Dream so far this season, and they’ll need her scoring to stay in this game. Nia Coffey is in an interesting spot here, getting a chance to play against her former team. She makes for a nice sleeper play on this slate, especially on FD where you need to find some value. It’s hard to predict what Tiffany Hayes or Renee Montgomery will do tonight. Both have been horrendous so far this season, but this is a good spot for them to step out of the slump. They make for interesting GPP options.

5-star play: Liz Cambage*, A’ja Wilson, Jessica Breland

4-star play: Brittney Sykes, Kayla McBride

Deep Value: Nia Coffey, Dearica Hamby

GPP Sleeper: Tiffany Hayes

Phoenix Mercury @ Minnesota Lynx

The Mercury head to the Twin city to continue this age-old rivalry. DeWanna Bonner has been a force to reckon with so far this season and will look to keep that going. She has good history against the Lynx and will be relied on heavily here. Brittney Griner didn’t have much success against the Lynx last year, as is to be expected when two of the all-time great centers meet. It’s hard to see this matchup going any different. Sancho Lyttle, on the other hand, could be a beneficiary from the epic battle between Griner and Fowles. I’m not a fan of bigs against the Lynx, but Lyttle’s skill set is suited for this kind of game. On the guard front, there isn’t much to like here. The matchup is brutal, although Essence Carson has made a history of being a pain for the Lynx. However, Carson is an inconsistent player, so be careful there. Briann January continues to be inconsistent and Yvonne Turner gets a tough matchup, that said Turner makes for an interesting tournament option given her form this season.

Napheesa Collier could be in line for a huge game here tonight. With Sylvia Fowles battling down low with Griner, it could fall on Collier to carry this Lynx team tonight. She has a prime matchup against Yvonne Turner tonight, or whoever they put up against her at the SF spot. Sylvia Fowles is 21 pts from joining the 5k club, that said, I don’t expect her to hit that today. This has historically been a tough spot for Fowles. The narrative is a strong one though, so getting some shares of Fowles is the right thing to do. The matchup is tough for the Lynx guards tonight. Odyssey Sims gets her former teammate in Carson, and Danielle Robinson gets Briann January. It’s hard to see either of them doing well here, but if one of them could it is probably Sims. Finally, Damiris Dantas makes for a solid option tonight for the Lynx. She could be another beneficiary of the Fowles/Griner battle and she has shown the kind of upside she carries.

5-star play: DeWanna Bonner, Napheesa Collier

4-star play: Brittney Griner, Sylvia Fowles, Damiris Dantas, Essence Carson, Odyssey Sims

Deep Value: Yvonne Turner

GPP Sleeper: Sancho Lyttle
