PHI Joel Embiid – Questionable

Tonight’s games switch the landscape from the teams that have home court advantage to the underdog’s home court, and I know that the Nets are excited to be back in Brooklyn after splitting with the Sixers in Philly. They got blown out last game, but I expect it to be a much closer game tonight, especially if Embiid sits out (I think he plays). Most playoff teams tighten up their rotations, but both these teams have guys still playing significant minutes off the bench (especially Brooklyn).

We’ll start with the Sixers. Joel Embiid is questionable again tonight, but given that he loves drama, I expect him to play again tonight. The Sixers have been limiting his minutes as he’s played 24 and 21 minutes in the first two games, so if he plays I expect him to be limited to no more than 25 minutes again which makes it really hard for me to pay up for his price tag. If Embiid sits I’ll be all in on Ben Simmons, as he sees the biggest bump in FPs when Embiid sits. I still really like Simmons here tonight as Jared Dudley called him out for being average in the half court, so I expect him to want to put on a show and with Embiid having his minutes limited it brings a golden opportunity for Simmons. I also have interest in Tobias Harris, but I’d like him more if Embiid sits. Jimmy Butler is actually my favorite play on the night, as he played close to 40 minutes in the first game and put up over 50 FPs, I feel like this is going to be a close, competitive game so I expect him to play huge minutes again tonight with a high ceiling. Not really high on any value plays from the Sixers unless Jonah Bolden is out tonight, only then I’d have interest in Mike Scott.

Now we’ll move on to Brooklyn. Last game none of the Nets starters played over 30 minutes, but I think that had to do with the blowout, I expect most of their starters to play around 30 minutes tonight, but not much more. D’Angelo Russell is going to be your main target here, as he’s likely to see the most minutes of any of the starters, and they’re going to need him to score if they want to win this game. Spencer Dinwiddie is my second favorite play from the Nets as he should see close to 30 minutes off the bench and he is still under 5K on FanDuel which makes him a really good play. I also have interest in DeMarre Carroll as I expect him to see his usual minutes tonight and he plays really well in uptempo games. Joe Carroll is also a decent option as he is cheap and should see solid minutes. Ed Davis is a solid Drop Score play as well, although his minutes are hard to predict.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler, D’Angelo Russell

💥💥 4 star play – Spencer Dinwiddie, Tobias Harris, Joel Embiid

💥 Value – DeMarre Carroll, Ed Davis, Mike Scott

Denver Nuggets 103.3 at San Antonio Spurs 106.3
Vegas – SAS -3.5
Total – 209.5

The Nuggets shift from home court advantage and their high altitude down to the warmer, much closer to sea level San Antonio. This series is going to be a battle through and through, and I expect this game to be no different. This game has the lowest total on the night, but there are still some good plays we can find if we really look hard.

For Denver, if I’m paying up at Center tonight, I’m going to be paying up for Jokic over Embiid, simply based on the fact that he’ll play more than 25 minutes, more opportunity = higher ceiling. Paul Millsap is also underpriced tonight….again, and the Nuggets had success playing at a faster pace, which helps Millsap’s game. He would’ve had a bigger game if he hadn’t gotten into foul trouble, he’s way too cheap for this matchup. I expect Jamal Murray to have another good game tonight, as he finally got it going in the fourth quarter last time out. The Spurs haven’t been great at defending the PG spot all year, but they did improve over the last few weeks of the season. Gary Harris is also a really good value play tonight as he saw 37 and 35 minutes over the first two games, and I expect him to continue to see those minutes for the remainder of the series. None of the Nuggets bench players really interest me, aside from Monte Morris as a drop.

For the Spurs, the first two games they had success with flowing through DeMar Derozan, but I don’t expect him to have as good of a game as he is much better on the road than he is at home. The Spurs started Poeltl again, but he saw only 20 minutes due to foul trouble. He’s a decent value play but once again not my favorite as he’s basically being forced to play to matchup with the Denver bigs. Denver has been pretty solid defensively so I’m not really interested in many Spurs other than Bryn Forbes and Patty Mills for value. LaMarcus Aldridge has the toughest matchup as Millsap has been solid at defending PFs but I expect them to lean on him more at home tonight and expect him to take on the heavy scoring load. Pop will likely try to get him on the floor as much as he can against Plumlee, which really worked to their advantage last game.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Nikola Jokic, Paul Millsap

💥💥 4 star play – Jamal Murray, Derrick White, Will Barton, Gary Harris, DeMar Derozan

💥 Value – Bryn Forbes, Patty Mills, Monte Morris

Golden State Warriors 121.4 at Los Angeles Clippers 112.8
Vegas – GSW -8.5
Total – 235.5

DeMarcus Cousins – OUT
Damian Jones – OUT

The big change in this game is going to be the absence of DeMarcus Cousins, considering he tore his quad and is likely out for a significant portion of time. The Warriors will come out trying to make a statement, considering they blew a 31 point lead last game out, so I expect them to want to make a statement in this game that the Clippers can’t hang with them.

For the Warriors, Steph sees the biggest usage bump with Boogie out, and Bogut will likely slide into the starting 5. He’ll be chalky but he likely won’t play over 20 minutes, so my preferred value play is Kevon Looney, but both are Drop Score worthy. Klay Thompson is also wayyyyy too cheap on FanDuel for this matchup, and he gets a solid boost with Boogie out. I’d rather pay up for Steph than KD in this matchup, and KD hasn’t really shown that ceiling he’s had in the past, so he’s a 4 star play for me. Draymond Green is a really solid play tonight again, as his usage is low but he’s too overpriced on FanDuel for me. That’s who I’m interested in for the Warriors tonight.

On the Clippers side of the ball, Lou Williams is their go to guy right now, and they’re going to continue to rely on him for scoring and he’ll need to continue scoring in bunches if they want to keep this game competitive. The good news is that he should see 30+ minutes off the bench, blowout or not, which makes him safer than a lot of the Clippers. Montrezl Harrell is my second favorite play, as he’ll come off the bench and likely avoid Bogut defense. He should see 30+ minutes off the bench as well and they’ll need him to come up big as well. Danilo Gallinari is a really solid play here again today as well, but his minutes aren’t as safe as Lou and Montrezl. SGA will also be pretty low owned here as has a decent matchup. That’s about all I’m willing to risk with the Clippers as the Warriors can be pretty scary when they’re pissed off.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Steph Curry, Lou Williams, Klay Thompson

💥💥 4 star play – Kevin Durant, Montrezl Harrell, Danilo Gallinari, Draymond Green, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

💥 Value – Andrew Bogut, Kevon Looney
