NBA Full Court Press for Tuesday, April 17th

— MAIN SLATE (3 Games) 7:00 pm est LOCK —

Indiana Pacers 98.0 at Boston Celtics 105.4
Vegas – BOS -7.5
Total – 202.5

BOS Marcus Smart – OUT
IND Victor Oladipo – OUT

There’s no way around it, the way the Pacers play defense this isn’t going to be a high scoring series, which makes finding FPs in this game tough to find. You’re going to need to have the right plays from this game in order to hit, I’m mostly looking for value here as there’s really no reason to pay up for studs in this game when it is more than likely going to be low scoring.

On the Pacers side of the ball, there really isn’t much to like, as they really haven’t tightened up their rotation like most teams do when they get to the playoffs. The only starter to play over 30 minutes was Bojan Bogdanovic, but he really hasn’t been scoring like he was the last few weeks over the season. Thaddeus Young splits minutes at the 4 with Domantas Sabonis, of the two I’d prefer to play Sabonis as he actually saw more minutes than Young last game. Myles Turner is always a GPP option, as we know Boston is soft inside, but Horford and Baynes really did a good job on him last game out. The only guy I’m really considering rostering from this team is likely Cory Joseph as a value play, as he saw over 20 minutes and value is going to be tough to find throughout the playoffs.

For the Celtics, they got an ugly win last game out, and I expect this one to be similar in style, it’ll be slow paced and more of a defensive battle than anything. With Smart out, the C’s moved Aron Baynes into the starting 5, which helps out with their toughness down low as he is a banger. Jaylen Brown also moved into the starting 5 and didn’t do squat. I really don’t roster him unless Irving is out, so he’s really only in play as a long shot GPP play as the Pacers are really good defensively. Kyrie Irving gets the best matchup of anyone, but if I have to choose between paying up for Kyrie or getting James Harden in a faster paced game, I’m going to go with Harden every time. My favorite play here is going to be Gordon Hayward, as he will now dominate the second team usage with Brown moving into the starting 5. Marcus Morris is also a decent play as he saw 29 minutes off the bench and is the spark for this Celtics offense. My favorite starter from the Celtics is going to be Al Horford, as they’re going to lean on him and Kyrie to score and Horford is actually decently priced.

💥💥💥 5 star play – None

💥💥 4 star play – Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Gordon Hayward, Myles Turner, Domantas Sabonis

💥 Value – Cory Joseph, Marcus Morris, Jaylen Brown

Detroit Pistons 99.0 at Milwaukee Bucks 114.0
Vegas – MIL -15
Total – 212

DET Blake Griffin – OUT
MIL Tony Snell – OUT

There’s really not much to say about this series as it was pretty much over before it began. The Pistons will be without Blake Griffin again, and that really kills any chance they had at keeping this game competitive (it was already slim before that) as you saw the Bucks win by 35 last game out. I don’t expect it to be that bad tonight, but it is still going to be ugly.

For the Pistons you’re really going to want to be looking for value plays here, because without Blake Griffin I highly doubt this game is going to be competitive. My favorite play here is going to be Ish Smith, as I think he will play the whole 4th quarter blowout or not, as that has been the trend recently because he is more of a true PG whereas Reggie Jackson is more of a scorer. Luke Kennard also sees a nice usage boost with Griffin out, and his minutes are blowout proof as well. Langston Galloway also saw 24 minutes off the bench last game, and if his shot is falling he can be a great Drop Score play as well. I’m likely not playing a ton of Andre Drummond here as he’ll be matched up with Brook Lopez who will pull him away from the basket which lowers his rebounding ceiling, but the offense will likely flow through him as long as he doesn’t get ejected again. Other than that I really don’t have much interest in the Pistons.

For the Bucks, the payup option is going to be Giannis, and it really just depends on whether or not you think he plays in the 4th quarter when deciding whether or not to roster him. The Pistons really don’t matchup well at all with the Bucks, as show by the blowout last game, so I’m leaning towards him not playing the 4th, but he can still put up plenty of FPs through 3 quarters and he’ll be lower owned than other stars on the slate because of the blowout factor. Here I’m looking for value again as Pat Connaughton played 28 minutes last game and is a great spark plug on this Bucks second unit. George Hill also saw significant minutes off the bench and is another really solid value play. My last value play here is Sterling Brown as he still saw over 20 minutes last game and contributed in several categories.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Giannis Antetokounmpo (if you think he plays all 4)

💥💥 4 star play – Luke Kennard, Andre Drummond, Eric Bledsoe

💥 Value – Ish Smith, Langston Galloway, Pat Connaughton, George Hill, Sterling Brown

Utah Jazz 103.4 vs. Houston Rockets 109
Vegas – HOU -6.5
Total – 212.5

UTA Kyle Korver – Questionable
UTA Thabo Sefolosha – Questionable

Finallyyyyyy some fantasy goodness! This is my favorite game of the night FP wise as the other two really just didn’t do it for me. This game will be close and I’ll likely be stacking this game in the majority of my lineups and hopefully watching them climb to the top by the end of the night.

For Utah, my favorite play here is Rudy Gobert, especially on DK where I think he is underpriced, as he’s going to have to play a ton of minutes. They’re using him to try to keep Harden out of the paint as he is really effective at effecting the Harden floaters from inside 10 feet and they need him to matchup with Capela. Donovan Mitchell also had a rough game last time out, but I expect him to bounce back in this one, as they’ll need him to score a bunch if they want him to win this game. Ricky Rubio also makes for a decent play, as he had a solid game last time out, but CP3 is still no slouch on D so he’s a 4 star play for me. Derrick Favors is also underpriced for this matchup, as he is a really solid player for them, I just wish they would up his minutes, they might need to tonight which makes him a really solid play. Joe Ingles also had a down game last time out, so I like him to bounce back in this one as well. They’re going to need him to be more effective on the offensive end if they want to hang in these games.

For Houston, James Harden is my favorite pay up option on this slate, and given how I expect the first two games to go tonight, you’re really playing with fire if you decide to fade him tonight. He’ll be in the majority of my lineups. Chris Paul also had a down game but he gets the best matchup against Ricky Rubio who is really bad at defense. Eric Gordon also can always fill it up if he gets hot, and he played over 30 minutes last game as well. Rudy Gobert is one of the premier defensive players in the league, so I’m still hesitant on Capela, but given how much switching Gobert did last game, it really opened up some easy lay ins and dump offs for Capela when Gobert had to fill in to stop penetration. So Capela gets a bump for me tonight as well as I see him posting a similar stat line as the first game. For value, the only spot I’m really looking is Kenneth Faried as a Drop Score because he is a solid FPPM player and saw 16 minutes last game out and had 6 boards and 11 points in that time frame.

💥💥💥 5 star play – James Harden, Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell

💥💥 4 star play – Chris Paul, Ricky Rubio, Clint Capela, Eric Gordon, Joe Ingles, Derrick Favors

💥 Value – Kenneth Faried
