Full Court Press

Los Angeles Lakers @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Pace: Okc +0.2

Starting with the Lakers, LeBron James has been shut down for the season which will completely open up this offense. With LeBron off the court this season, Kyle Kuzma seems to be the biggest beneficiary with a usage rate of 23.4% and around 0.9 fantasy points per minute. He’s currently questionable, but he’s my favorite Laker if he plays. JaVale McGee continues to crush, but the Thunder are tough on opposing centers, as Steven Adams is a pest on defense. I would label McGee as a GPP play. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope draws the best matchup on the team, as the Thunder rank 24th in defense against opposing shooting guards. KCP is a GPP play just because he is incredibly shooting dependent. I would look for Lance Stephenson to draw another start, I like him if, and only if, he starts. Rajon Rondo is also a decent GPP play, given the matchup. From the Thunder, Russell Westbrook is averaging 61.6 Draftkings points per game against the Lakers in two games this season, it would be pretty hard for me to talk you off of him. The same can be said for Paul George, as he is averaging 54.1 Draftkings points per game against the Lakers this season. Steven Adams draws the best matchup on the team, as the Lakers rank 24th in defense against opposing centers this season. He’s averaging 43.8 Draftkings points per game against them this season. Jerami Grant and Dennis Schroder are GPP plays only for me.

5-star play: Kyle Kuzma, Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Steven Adams

4-star play: JaVale McGee, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Lance Stephenson (If starting)

Deeper Value/FD Drop Candidate: None

GPP Sleeper: JaVale McGee, Jerami Grant, Dennis Schroder

Atlanta Hawks @ San Antonio Spurs

Vegas Total: 227.5

Vegas Spread: SA -11.5

Pace: SA +5.8

The Research Station loves the Hawks today, it has six of them projected to go for at least 5.4x their Draftkings price tag. My favorite play would be Trae Young, as you probably know, I love targeting point guards against the Spurs. Not only that, but Young has gone for at least 48 fantasy points in four straight games. John Collins is doubtful for this game, which means we can fire up Alex Len. Len has gone over 25 fantasy points in three of his last five games. Kent Bazemore may see a minutes increase, but I see him as a GPP only play. Justin Anderson played 31 minutes last game out and dropped 50 fantasy points. It sounds like Taurean Prince will be out again tonight, so we can go right back to the well here if he is starting again.

From the Spurs, both Derrick White and Jakob Poeltl are projected for over 6x their Draftkings price tag. The Hawks rank dead last in defense against opposing point guards which makes Derrick White a phenomenal play. I’m a little less thrilled about Poeltl, but he’s a decent value play. DeMar DeRozan is in a great spot here as well, this is a massive pace up spot for the Spurs. Do you like Alex Len’s chances of slowing down LaMarcus Aldridge? I certainly don’t, look for Aldridge to stay hot here.

5-star play: Trae Young, DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge, Derrick White

4-star play: Justin Anderson, Alex Len

Deeper Value/FD Drop Candidate: Jakob Poeltl

GPP Sleeper: Kent Bazemore

Houston Rockets @ Sacramento Kings

Vegas Total: 227.0

Vegas Spread: Hou -5.0

Pace: Hou +5.5

This is a pretty good spot for the Rockets, pace up and fairly close spread. James Harden stands out as one of the best plays on the slate, he is averaging 65 Draftkings points per game in three games against the Kings this season. Clint Capela should be able to do whatever he wants down low, as the Kings rank 20th in defense against opposing centers. Chris Paul is averaging 41.8 Draftkings points per game against the Kings this season, which puts him into play here as well. Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker are solid value plays to round out the team. From the Kings, Harrison Barnes is grading out as the best point per dollar play. I don’t love Barnes here, but he is a nice GPP play, as he may get some PJ Tucker defense. Bogdan Bogdanovic and Buddy Hield are both solid plays here, as they should get some extra shots up in order to keep this game close. I don’t love targeting Chris Paul with point guards, as he is one of the best on-ball defenders in the league, but De’Aaron Fox is a secondary play here. Marvin Bagley is also a secondary play given the matchup.

5-star play: James Harden, Chris Paul, Clint Capela

4-star play:

Deeper Value/FD Drop Candidate:

GPP Sleeper:

Denver Nuggets @ Golden State Warriors

Vegas Total: 221.5

Vegas Spread: GS -8.0

Pace: Den +3.0

Starting with the Nuggets, Paul Millsap draws the best matchup, as the Warriors rank 28th in defense against opposing power forwards. Nikola Jokic has struggled a bit against the Warriors this season, averaging less than 40 Draftkings points per game in three games. Jamal Murray has also struggled, averaging less than 20 Draftkings points per game. I don’t have a ton of interest from this team, but you can make a case for Will Barton in GPPs. From the Warriors, there isn’t a huge difference between Kevin Durant and Steph Curry here, play whichever one fits better in your lineup if you want exposure. DeMarcus Cousins draws the best matchup here, as the Nuggets rank 22nd in defense against opposing centers. Klay Thompson ranks as the best point per dollar play and is always a nice cheap way to get exposure to this team. Draymond Green always has triple-double upside, I’ll make him a GPP play.

5-star play: Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, DeMarcus Cousins, Klay Thompson

4-star play: Nikola Jokic, Paul Millsap, Draymond Green

Deeper Value/FD Drop Candidate: None

GPP Sleeper: Draymond Green, Jamal Murray, Will Barton
