Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article, where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA Slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs.
NBA Free Squares for Today March 22nd
💥 MEM – Delon Wright – SG – $5,100 / $4,900
The Grizzlies will be without Avery Bradley tonight and currently, Mike Conley is being listed as questionable as well. I’m expecting Delon Wright to get the start he and play as many minutes as he can handle tonight vs the Magic. The Magic have not been a bad defensive team this season as they’ve allowed 3% fewer fantasy points to shooting guards than the league average. However, over their last 10 games, they have been struggling and they rank 26th in the league against shooting guards. Wright has been playing more and over his last 5 games he is averaging 30 minutes and 22.9 fantasy points per game. He’s going to be mega chalk across the industry so don’t expect to be sneaky with this play.
Bonus Play:
Justin Holiday is in a similar spot here for the Grizzlies. He may not get the start but he’ll get plenty of run with Bradley and Conley likely out. His price is much cheaper than Wright across the industry and while he doesn’t have the same type of upside, he’s been playing pretty well in limited minutes. Over his last 5 games, he is averaging 27 minutes and 17.9 fantasy points per game.
💥 TOR – Fred VanVleet – PG – $5,600 / $5,300
Kyle Lowry is out again tonight for the Raptors as they work on getting everyone 100% for the Playoffs. This should push Fred VanVleet into the starting lineup and he gets a fun matchup here tonight. The Thunder have been a solid Defensive team all year but have recently been struggling since the all star break. VanVleet has been playing very well recently averaging 31 minutes and 32.4 fantasy points per game over his last 5 games. The Thunder play at a quick 106 pace so this is a good spot for VanVleet tonight. He’s too cheap for the level of production he’s been giving us so we need to take advantage of this tonight.
Bonus Play:
If you’re going to pay up, it’s usually a good idea to target Kawhi Leonard when Kyle Lowry is out. With Lowry off the floor Leonard has a 31.8% usage rate and averages 1.33 fantasy points per minute. He’s a top target on tonight’s slate and he’s priced well under the other superstars on the slate.

💥 LAC – Patrick Beverly / Shai Alexander – PG – $6,000 / $5,300
Both Clippers point guards are in a fantastic spot tonight vs the Cavaliers. Colin Sexton is one of the worst defensive point guards in the league this year and the Cavs defense overall isn’t much better. On the Season they a have a 114 defensive efficiency rating and they allow 7% more fantasy points to point guards than the league average. Beverly and Alexander have each been playing 30 minutes per game over their last 5 games. And they have each been scoring right around 30 fantasy points per game. In a matchup like this, I’ll have plenty of exposure to these two.
Game Stack?
I love the Clippers here, Gallinari, Harrell and of course Lou Williams are in play here as well. If you’re playing the Clippers guys It’s a good idea to bring it back with Colin Sexton, Larry Nance, Ante Zizic and Jordan Clarkson. Kevin Love is back but I’m not super interested here as I don’t think the team will push him too hard.
