Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings March 28, 2019

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 3/28/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching, and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process, or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research Station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 20% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Take a peek at our latest winner.  DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well!  Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike.  Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 8-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men, and goalies in order of my preference.

NHL FORWARDS

EDM 1 – Kassian, McJesus, Draisaitl: They have 11 goals in the last ten games and six in the last three. This stack may go overlooked, because Dallas has played well defensively recently. I am all for attacking the Stars after Ben Bishop got banged up and left last night’s game (He is doubtful tonight).

FLA 1 – Huberdeau, Barkov, Dadonov: You have seen them written up just about every slate recently. They are hot and OTT sucks defensively.

OTT 1 – Tkachuk, Pageau, Veronneau: Florida is scoring at an unbelievable clip, but they are also giving up a ton of goals. Florida’s top 2 lines have given up six goals combined in the last three games, so the matchup doesn’t matter. This stack has slate-breaking ability tonight.

Other stacks

SJ 3 – Sorenson, Thornton, LaBanc
WSH 1 – Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Wilson
CAR 2 – Svechnikov, Staal, Teravainen
WPG 1 – Wheeler, Scheifele, Laine
MTL 1 – Tatar, Danault, Gallagher
OTT 4 – Gibbons, Lindberg, Paajarvi – 3 goals in the last three and will be unowned
MTL 2 – Lehkonen, Domi, Shaw

DFS Studs on DEFENSE

Edler: He is the hottest defenseman on the slate but he will cost you on DK, he is a little more affordable on FD. He is a cash/hybrid lock and absolutely has upside in tournaments.

DeMelo: I love OTT tonight (I know that sounds weird, but that game should shoot out) and Dylan DeMelo is scorching hot. I thought he would cool off when Chabot came back but now they are both viable in all formats. DeMelo is just too cheap to ignore.

Klefbom: He is also extremely hot and I think EDM can have a big game tonight against Khudobin and the Stars. I prefer him in a stack with EDM 1/PP1 stack but he is a viable one-off in all formats.

Honorable Mentions: Weber, Trouba, Heiskanen, Hamilton, Dahlin, Gustafsson, Carlson, Burns, Vlasic

GOALIES Set to Bring Value

**All stats are over the last three weeks unless otherwise noted**

Bobrovsky: 5-2-0/1.30/0.955 He is rolling right now and CBJ is battling for the last Wild Card spot. MTL is middle of the pack in terms of scoring over their last 10 games but they are shooting the puck a ton and CBJ has been playing terrific defense. I think Bob has the safest floor and the highest ceiling on this slate. ALL FORMATS

Hellebuyck: 4-3-1/2.27/0.929 Decent numbers lately,  and it’s no secret that NYI cannot score. The win should be pretty safe here, but I don’t think he has the ceiling to win you a GPP tonight because NYI does not shoot very much. CASH/HYBRID

Crawford: 6-3-1/1.76/0.942 Crow has been playing very well recently but he is going against the Sharks who have the highest ITT on the slate and I’m assuming he will be low owned. Chicago will allow a ton of shots and give Crow a very high ceiling but extremely low floor. GPP

Honorable Mentions: Koskinen, Hutton, Markstrom, Jones

GOAL PREDICTION: Leon Draisaitl

Remember guys, always confirm the starters after Morning Skate.
