Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings March 27, 2019

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 3/27/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching, and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process, or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research Station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 20% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Take a peek at our latest winner.  DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well!  Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike.  Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 4-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men, and goalies in order of my preference.

NHL FORWARDS

BOS 1 – Pastrnak, Bergeron, Marchand: They have scored four goals in their last three games. This group picked up right where they left off before Pasta’s injury. I think with the massive total in PHI tonight, this line goes a little overlooked….don’t be a fish, play the Bruins.

COL 1 – Kerfoot, MacKinnon, Compher: MacKinnon is absolutely on fire right now, but his linemates aren’t doing much to help him but they are offering a 2-3 BSSOG floor and should pick up a couple of assists on Nate’s goals tonight. I don’t think many people will be on this line because Vegas is flying off the page in every offensive category. VGK 1 is beatable, so I am willing to go heavy on this line and watch the money roll in with the low ownership.

TOR 2 – Johnsson, Matthews, Nylander: They will not be sneaky. They are hot and PHI sucks at defense….blunt, yes; but also true. This line should draw the matchup against PHI 1 which has given up three goals in the last three games. Philly is worst in the league in terms of goals allowed and second to last in the league in shots allowed over the last ten games.

Other stacks

VGK 1 – Smith, Karlsson, Marchessault
DAL 1 – Dickinson, Seguin, Benn – SNEAKY-ISH
CGY 2 – Tkachuk, Backlund, Lindholm – Watch CGY’s line combos, they’re top 3 lines are all jumbled according to DailyFaceOff
PHI 1 – Giroux, Patrick, JVR – Patrick is cold, so he is fadeable (maybe use Ghost instead)
VGK 2 – Stone, Stastny, Tuch
TOR 3 – Marleau, Kadri, Kapanen – I’m all aboard the Tavares fade… I’m not sure if I like it, but I’m doing it
CGY 4 – Hathaway, Jankowski, Mangiapane

DFS Studs on DEFENSE

Chara: The ageless wonder is rolling right now. Torey Krug is expected back tonight, but he is useless unless he’s on the powerplay. Chara has been playing really well with BOS 1 lately and I expect that to continue tonight.

Gostisbehere: This makes for an interesting GPP play for me. PHI is struggling but if they are going to get to a very beatable Andersen, Ghost will be a big part of it.

Rielly: He is rolling and will be very chalky along with as many Leafs as people can jam into their lineups. He can be a one-off but I prefer to make him part of a TOR 1 or TOR 2 stack.

Honorable Mentions: Giordano, Erik Johnson, Barrie, Heiskanen, Klingberg, DeAngelo, Theodore, Engelland, Cole, Muzzin

GOALIES Set to Bring Value

**All stats are over the last three weeks unless otherwise noted**

Grubbauer: 5-1-1/1.13/0.965 First of all, he is not confirmed yet. I really hope he starts. Vegas is elite offensively, there’sno doubt about that, but something weird will happen on this short slate. Grub has been elite and his defense has actually been decent lately which should help him reach his ceiling tonight. GPP

Bishop: 6-1-0/0.93/0.966 Our Research Station loves him tonight and I truly think DAL gets the win here despite CGY being a -166 favorite. Bishop is on another planet right now and can shut everyone down. His ceiling is massive in this game with the shot volume he will see, tonight. GPP

Hart: 2-3-0/2.41/0.937 This pick makes me nervous, I won’t lie to you. I love the ceiling here, the floor is also -923 because TOR can score 10. Baby Shark will see a ton of shots and he has been playing well since coming back – he’s not getting a lot of help from his team, however. This is a hedge against how badly Freddy Andersen has been playing for the last month or so, more than anything. This is an MME only option.

Honorable Mentions: Fleury, Rask (chalk, but not playing well recently)

GOAL PREDICTION: David Pastrnak

Remember guys, always confirm the starters after Morning Skate.
