Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings March 25, 2019

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 3/25/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching, and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process, or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research Station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 20% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Take a peek at our latest winner.  DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well!  Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike.  Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 9-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men, and goalies in order of my preference.

NHL FORWARDS

CGY 2- Tkachuk, Backlund, Frolik: This group is rolling with 10 goals in their last 10 games and three in their last three games. CGY has the second highest ITT on the night at 3.9, so you will need some Flames in all formats tonight. I like the CGY top line as well but the #2 line is where I will focus most of my attention

VGK 1 – Marchessault, Karlsson, Smith: Eleven goals in the last ten games and six in their last three. These guys are scorching hot. For as much as I love the Blues goalies tonight (I hope Allen starts), I will also have some VGK 1 exposure as a hedge.

FLA 1 – Huberdeau, Barkov, Dadonov: They have scored 14 goals in the last ten and have started to cool off but they get a great matchup against TOR who is bleeding goals. I think TOR will carry a ton of ownership, so these guys make a sneaky stack.

Other stacks

BUF 1 – Pominville, Eichel, Skinner – NJ is terrible on defense
WPG 1 – Wheeler, Scheifele, Laine
PIT 1 – McCann, Crosby, Guentzel
BOS 1 – Marchand, Bergeron, Pasta
STL 2 – Schwartz, Sundqvist, Perron  – STL PP1 is a great stack too
TB 2 – Kucherov, Point, Johnson
DET 1 – Athanasiou, Larkin, Mantha, Vanek  – pick a combo and great late night hammer

DFS Studs on DEFENSE

Hedman: He is the hottest defenseman in the league right now, averaging 23+ FD points over his last 5. He is a huge cog in the TB’s electric offense. This is a tough matchup against Boston, but there is a massive ceiling here. I think he is too expensive for cash games though.

Spurgeon: He has been hot too and our RS really likes MIN’s chances tonight at home against NSH. I will not stack the Wild in this game, but if you are looking for a one-off he is your guy.

Vlasic: I love that Pickles is back in our lives and he gets to face off against DET who can’t stop a nose bleed at this point and Pickles’ price has not caught up to his production. I’m going to have a hard time building a lineup without him tonight.

Honorable Mentions: Dunn, Giordano, Trouba, McDonagh, Muzzin

GOALIES Set to Bring Value

**All stats are over the last three weeks unless otherwise noted**

Murray: 6-2-2/2.18/0.935 He is rolling right now and gets a dream matchup against the Rangers who are the worst team in term of scoring over the last ten days. NYR is also struggling with shots and HD chances. I don’t love the ceiling here, but the win is damn close to a lock. DeSmith is in play if he starts too. ALL FORMATS

Hellebuyck: 5-2-0/2.25/0.932 He is our top projected goalie in our research station tonight. I don’t expect a lot of scoring in this game because of both teams defensive prowess and middling scoring. I feel confident in Hellebuyck getting the win here, though. ALL FORMATS.

Allen: 1-1-2/1.71/0.939 He has been playing really well lately and STL is starting to heat back up. This is a tough matchup against VGK but I think he goes lower owned and has a massive ceiling. GPP

Honorable Mentions: Fleury, Dubnyk, Vasilevskiy, Smith

GOAL PREDICTION: Alex Barkov

Remember guys, always confirm the starters after Morning Skate.
